Senior / Principal Environmental Engineer – Remediation Design Leadership (Seattle, WA)

This is a hands-on technical leadership role for a Senior or Principal Environmental Engineer who wants autonomy, long-term ownership, and the opportunity to mentor the next generation of remediation professionals.

The Role:

This position is focused on technical delivery first, with gradual business development responsibility over time. You will lead remediation and cleanup projects while helping develop junior engineers into strong design and consulting professionals.

Summary:

The Sr. Project Engineer will collaborate with the Company Project Managers, Superintendents, Field Staff, and Executive Staff to ensure the successful completion of construction projects. In addition, the Sr. Project Engineer will act as a liaison with Owners, Architects, Engineers and Tenants regarding project feasibility, cost, scheduling, completion, and close-out on assigned construction projects both public and private.This position is also responsible for design development participation pre-construction/estimating activities.The Sr. Project Engineer is responsible for maintaining constant and effective communications with team members, both internal and external as well as customers.

Responsibilities for the Sr. Project Engineer will include the following:

Estimating/Pre-Construction (assist estimators with the following when required):

• Send projects to sub-contractors for bids.

• Assist in obtaining and tracking project permits and inspections.
• Obtain all required close-out documents including record drawings, O&M’s and warranties.

Supervision (collaborate with Superintendents to assist with the following):

• Coordinate with Site Superintendents
• Create and assist Superintendent in tracking completion of punch list and warranty work.

Knowledge and Experience:

• Four-year Construction Management degree required.
• Three years’ experience as a Project Engineer.
• Knowledge of project management principles for building construction; theory, principles and practices of engineering and architecture related to design and construction.
• Knowledge of fundamentals of mechanical, electrical, structural and civil engineering systems.
• Knowledge of all applicable local and international codes.

As a Senior Structural Design Engineer, you’ll oversee multiple structural projects from start to finish—designing anchorage, seismic bracing, and vibration isolation systems for HVAC, plumbing, and piping equipment. What you will do

• Manage multiple structural projects that vary in complexity, owning design execution from inception to delivery.
• Review incoming design requests, prioritize workload, and delegate design tasks to junior engineers based on skill and capacity.
• Mentor and coach Design Engineers I and II, providing guidance on design best practices, code interpretation, and field challenges.

• Create and compile detailed anchorage and bracing calculation packages, including CAD-generated details, with clear and consistent presentation.
• Stamp design packages with a current PE license where required for permit submissions or code compliance.

Education, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Architectural, or Structural Engineering required.
• 8+ years’ of structural design experience with a minimum of 3+ years designing structural components for HVAC & Plumbing projects/systems required.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in California or Nevada required.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-engineers required.
• Proven ability to support multiple projects with shifting priorities and fast-paced schedules required.

Position Responsibilities:

• Participate and/or leads in developing air vehicle requirements for aeroelasticity including flutter, divergence, freeplay and rigidity
• Collaborate with the airframe & subsystems design and analysis engineers to generate integrated aero and structural models for flight vehicle analysis consistent with a Model Based Engineering (MBE) environment
• Perform analysis for flutter, divergence, aeroservoelasticity, freeplay and rigidity to support air vehicle design and stores integration
• Define allowable flight envelopes and operational limits
• Develop flight flutter test and ground vibration test plans
• Create finite element models and correlate to test results
• Perform ground and/or flight test programs, by the development of test requirements, providing data for pre-test analysis, monitoring testing, data analysis anddocumenting results, in order to support design and verification of vehicle and components
• Review and approves airframe and subsystems hardware packages for flight worthiness and to ensure the air vehicle meets the service environment
• Provide data to support the definition and documentation of structural design requirements for the service life of the product, to ensure company, customer and regulatory requirements are met
• Present engineering data and results to management and customers during program level reviews and other technical meetings

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

You will be creating automated test stands to replicate extreme flight conditions on our hardware and mechanisms that will serve as the backbone of our qualification testing. You will help to break our development hardware, help root-cause the failure modes, and provide critical input in redesigning it. You will be writing the software and building the hardware platforms for the command, control and data collection systems that will test our systems to rigorous aerospace standards.

• Full ownership of the design, build, and maintenance of mechanical or electrical test stands for development testing, production acceptance testing, functional and environmental qualification testing

Manage projects for the purchase of machines/equipment for the testing departments. Follow Michelin project approach through the project stages including:

• Opportunity Study, Feasibility Study, Risk Analysis, Solution Selection & Development, Installation and Startup, Homologation & Qualification, ROI

Study, select, and purchase equipment and components from outside suppliers which will provide solutions to problems (or desired outcomes) presented by the testing departments.

Collaborate with personnel from various departments including operations, maintenance, test engineers, tire design engineers, purchasing, IT, and management.

Use 3D modeling software (SolidWorks) for developing parts, assemblies, and drawings. Use SolidWorks Simulation tools as required to guarantee integrity of parts and assemblies.

Occasional travel to outside vendors for equipment evaluation/acceptance and to other Michelin sites for equipment startup/installation.

Select and manage contractors and outside vendors performing on-site work.

Analyze data from tire test equipment as required to troubleshoot problems or to improve confidence in test results. Develop an understanding of how tire behavior and measurement can affect the final results. Consider and apply these findings in the development/ procurement/ modification of test equipment.

In your role as a Displays Software Engineer, your primary focus will be designing, architecting, and building a variety of real-time user interface applications for controlling our automated aircraft systems. Position Snapshot/A Day in the Life:

This Associate Engineer position will be within the Traffic Division of the Public Works/Engineering Department. With a team of 11 (7 of whom are primarily responsible for signal operations and maintenance), we are responsible for overseeing the City's transportation system, including supporting Capital Improvements Projects, Land Development projects, Street Maintenance, Planning, and others.
