A&Z is seeking a full-time, on-site Purchasing Manager to join our team in Hauppauge, NY. The Purchasing Manager/Sr. Manager is responsible for the day-to-day requirements of purchasing goods and services for the company in an efficient and economical manner following established policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
- Issue purchase orders and tracking material and information requests.
- Source materials for new projects as requested, identify alternate sources for the new products based on price reduction strategies, any potential compliance issues, leading supplier evaluations, and leveraging market intelligence
- Manage all requests from various departments for their current and future project
- Procurement of API, excipients, and search for possible suppliers for their new projects
- Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating favorable terms and managing performance.
- Develop and enforce procurement policies, optimize processes, and utilize technology for efficiency.
- Manage departmental budgets, analyze costs, and drive total cost reductions.
- Coordinate timely delivery and manage inventory levels
- Enter purchase requisitions, purchase orders and generate receivers in JDE
- Create electronic copies of PO/Receiver in the system central folders
- Ensure that PO acknowledgements details are correct and update promise dates
- Follow up PO delivery dates, order discrepancies or quality issues
- Attach pertinent documents to POs in JDE including quotes, proofs, specs
- Update reports, savings/increase, part/vendor master files.
- Sample requests and tracking to support new product development
- Report and track competitive bids.
Education, Experience & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years purchasing/industry experience - required
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Knowledge of JDE software a plus
- Organized and self-motivated. Ability to multi-task.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, financial acumen, leadership, communication, and risk management skills.
- Market trends, industry best practices, relevant laws, and procurement software.

Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager or designee, will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. He or she may advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications.
Core Job Responsibilities- Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, reviews orders and prescriptions for appropriateness and patient safety
- Ensures that medication profiles are accurate and up to date
- Checks for drug interactions, incompatibilities and optimum drug therapy

- Accountable for investigational drug study integrity
- Ensures that non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous medications are prepared in accordance with USP 795, 797, and 800 regulation

- Participates in the department's in-service education program.

This position is 100% onsite. The pharmacist in this position will provide clinical and operational support at our locations in Weymouth, Milford and Foxborough, MA.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Practices in accordance with all federal and state regulations, DFCI policies and Joint Commission standards.
2. Responsible for designated daily operations and/or clinical activities of assigned area.
3. Appropriately dispenses pharmaceuticals, including sterile products, chemotherapy, biologics, controlled substances, and investigational medications.
4. Evaluates all providers’ medication orders for completeness and appropriateness prior to dispensing; consults with providers and nurses to clarify orders as needed.
5. Performs quality control on medication orders and prepared medications and additional quality control activities as necessary (e.g., refrigerator temperature, compounding logs, hood cleaning, emergency cart, and controlled substance inventory, etc.).
6. Reviews and compares investigational protocols to medication orders for completeness and appropriateness prior to dispensing.
7. Oversees pharmacy technicians and students as assigned.
8. Participates in the training and orientation of newly hired pharmacists and technicians.
9. Other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Job Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited college of Pharmacy. 3 years of hospital pharmacy, ambulatory care, sterile compounding experience or 5 years retail pharmacy experience with 2 years oncology experience required. Or completion of a PGY1 residency.
License/Certification/Registration Required:
Must be licensed to practice pharmacy in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Some satellite locations require additional licensure.

Operational Duties and Responsibilities
Pharmacy Technicians perform ONLY non-judgmental technical duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Prepares drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures, and protocols - Verifies computerized patient medication records accurately. Maintains, accurate, complete patient drug record. Compounds non-sterile pharmaceuticals. Provides services efficiently and in a timely fashion.
Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law and institutional policies.

Maintains current technician license. Ensures applicable CE records and licensure are maintained in department files. Attends staff meetings.

Retail - Performs outpatient distributive functions related to entering prescriptions orders, selecting the correct medications for new and refilled prescription orders, and coordinates delivery of medications for patient pick-up or delivery.

Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective drug therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
Reads, extracts, and interprets information in patient medical records accurately.
Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
Coordinates pharmacist drug education to patients and their families per institutional protocol.
Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department. Collects data, conducts monitors and inspections, and maintains logs, records and other documentation as assigned.

Responsibilities:

* Pharmacy Technicians perform ONLY non-judgmental technical duties under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
Operational Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist Pharmacists with Medication Histories.
* Train Tech I associates.
* Prepares drug orders per physician request according to established policies, procedures and protocols.
* Verifies computerized patient medication records accurately.
Maintains, accurate, complete patient drug record.
* Compounds pharmaceuticals including non-sterile and sterile products, chemotherapy and parenteral nutrition products accurately.
* Issues controlled substances to patient care areas and maintains records as required by law and institutional policies.
* Provides services efficiently and in a timely fashion.
* Verifies the daily activities of the department are complete and recorded.
* Maintains competency required for current job title/position
* Maintains current technician license.
Ensures applicable CE records and licensure are maintained in department files.
Attends staff meetings.
* Maintain IV certification and competencies.
* Completes all competency/skills assessment requirements.

* Serves as the technician in specialty areas such as the operating room, IV room, or pharmacy work areas outside the central pharmacy.
* Ambulatory care
* Provides ambulatory pharmaceutical care services as assigned such as but not limited to: anticoagulation clinics, intensive medical home, transition of care, Discharge Medication reconciliation, etc.
* Retail
* Performs outpatient distributive functions related to entering prescriptions orders, selecting the correct medications for new and refilled prescription orders, and coordinates delivery of medications for patient pick-up or delivery.
Clinical Duties and Responsibilities
* Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective drug therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures, and protocols.
* Reads, extracts and interprets information in patient medical records accurately.
* Detects and reports suspected adverse drug reactions accurately and in a timely manner.
* Sustains the hospital drug formulary, minimizing non-formulary procurements, utilizing therapeutic substitution protocols and promoting rational drug therapy selection.
* Provides accurate, adequate and timely drug information to the hospital's pharmacy associates.
* Coordinates pharmacist drug education to patients and their families per institutional protocol.
* Participates in the quality improvement and medication use review activities of the department.
Collects data, conducts monitors and inspections and maintains logs, records and other documentation as assigned.
* Conducts designated interventions as defined in department Clinical Intervention activities (IV to PO, Renal Dosing, Pharmacokinetic dosing support, Anticoagulation)
* Baseline departmental standards for reporting interventions for clinical productivity as defined by departmental goals.
* Provides services efficiently and in a timely fashion Occupational Hazards

Job Requirements: Education/Skills
* High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Experience
* 3-5 years of pharmacy technician experience preferred
* Meet all criteria of Pharmacy Technician I Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
* Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of practice required
* Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred
* ACPE accredited IV certification program, including hazardous (minimum 40 hours); or meet minimum State requirement.
