Job Summary and Qualifications

The Patient Safety and Risk Management Specialist is responsible for coordination and resolution of complaints and grievances made by patients and their representatives according to CMS and TJC guidelines and assisting with the quality and risk management functions of the hospital with a specific focus on patient safety.

You will:

  • Assist with data collection, data entry, analysis of data, and compilation of reports in various computer systems and databases.
  • Be involved with medical record review, chart reviews, data analysis and compilation of reports as assigned.
  • Assist with the execution of the Quality, Risk, and Patient Safety hospital plans and the development of performance improvement projects or tasks as assigned.
  • Have a working knowledge of all Performance Improvement initiatives, Quality Dashboards, Patient Complaints and Grievances, Risk Management and Patient Safety activities.
  • Assist with preparation for regulatory surveys and action that may result from those surveys.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current State of Utah Registered Nurse license, compact license accepted, must obtain Utah RN license within 90 days of employment.
  • BSN or equivalent degree
  • Skills relating to data collection and statistical analysis, process improvement process and the ability to work well with patients/families, nursing, and ancillary staff, and physicians are required by the position.
  • Needs good computer skills, communication skills, writing ability and experience with database software i.e. Microsoft Excel.
  • RN with at least 5 years acute care experience required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)(R) certification

  • Radiologic technologist license in state of practice

  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS) for healthcare providers

  • May be required to complete the Medical Assistant (MA) Competency Checklist and perform the function of an MA in a clinic or InstaCare setting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-2 years radiology experience

  • IV Certificationam

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
  • Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc.)
  • May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

This role involves a consistent 40-hour weekly schedule, where you will be primarily responsible for the administration of anesthesia, patient monitoring during surgical and medical procedures, and comprehensive pre and post-anesthetic evaluations. Responsibilities and Duties

  • Provide competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.
  • Deliver safe, quality, age-appropriate anesthesia following established clinical privilege guidelines approved by the Anesthesia Department Chairman.
  • Administer anesthesia and monitor patients during surgeries and other medical procedures.
  • Provide and document pre and post-anesthetic evaluations.
  • Obtain informed consent for anesthesia.
  • Provide induction, maintenance, emergence, and post-anesthesia care.
  • Consult on airway management and participate in codes under the direction of a supervising anesthesiologist.
  • Offer supportive assistance to residents and medical students on anesthesia rotations.
  • Report to and be accountable to the nurse manager/director/clinical leader, coordinating and delivering patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.
  • Foster a learning environment for patient/families, nurses, and other members of the healthcare team, including students.
  • Be accountable for safety, identify and correct problems, and integrate evidence and best practices into nursing care.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development.
  • Lead and coordinate teams, appropriately delegate, coordinate care, and collaborate with others as equal members of the inter-professional care team to integrate nursing knowledge.
