- Full Time Bell Hospital Position Summary / Career Interest: The Specimen Processing Technician is a position within the clinical laboratory and microbiology that is responsible for managing specimens once they arrive in the department and handling multiple pre-analytical variables.
Depending on the area of the lab, this may include, but are not limited to: positive patient identification, correct tube types, specimen conditions and integrity and how they affect laboratory results.
The Specimen Processing Technician accepts samples in the laboratory and performs tasks including releasing orders out of the Hospital Information System (HIS), receiving specimens in the Laboratory Information System (LIS), and processing specimens to include aliquoting and preparation for the automation line.
The specimen Processing Technician troubleshoots specimen and order issues and communicates with care providers across the Health System.
The Specimen Processing Technician working in Microbiology is responsible for performing pre-analytic functions such as: specimen receipt, sterile processing, specimen manipulation including sonication and tissue grinding, determination of appropriate culture media for different specimen types and plating.
The Specimen Processing Technician follows regulatory, accreditation, safety and hospital standards, policies and procedures, and participates in quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions Creates Registration encounters, releases orders out of HIS when indicated; receives samples in LIS; prints barcode labels and affixes labels to specimens.
Completes order entry functions or paperwork as required.
Ensures proper container type, centrifugation, specimen sterility, and transport conditions for specimens.
Ensures positive patient identification, correct specimen collection and handling/transport; performs specimen processing duties and prioritizes based on urgency Ensures the specimen and orders received are appropriate for requested testing.
Prioritizes specimens based on clinical urgency.
- Performs specimen processing duties including but not limited to: aliquoting urine and body fluid samples, supply storage, Kanban supply, inventory monitoring and storing patient samples appropriately.
In Microbiology, uses sterile techniques to handle, manipulate, and inoculate specimens on to culture media, including but not limited to determination of selecting the correct culture media based on specimen, order and protocols, sterile aliquoting, sonification and tissue grinding.
Assists in pathology specimen preservation, by adding formalin to specimens, and/or paging residents or providers as needed.
Fields inquiries and communicates information in written and verbal formats.
Answers the phone and provides customer service to internal and external customers following established standards.
Consults Specimen Processing Coordinator, supervisor or lab leadership when appropriate.
Assists other staff with processing questions or automation line issues.
Assists with training new hires, students, or medical students, if applicable.
Disposes of bio-hazardous materials, chemical waste, sharps and other potentially hazardous materials according to policy and strictly adheres to safety and infection control procedures.
Uses and wears PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as necessary to perform job duties safely and minimize risk.
Other duties as assigned.
Must be able to perform the professional, clinical and or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

The scholar would be a part of a research program funded by Meta at the intersection of neural engineering, human-machine interaction, ethics, and privacy. The project focuses on next-generation bio signal-driven interfaces for long-term use, emphasizing adaptability, robustness, and human-centered design with special focus on ethics and privacy.
Responsibilities:
This position is ideal for candidates who enjoy working across theory, experiments, and systems-level thinking, and who want their work to shape how humans interact with intelligent machines responsibly.
What You'll Work On
You will contribute to the development and evaluation of ethics-centered adaptive brain/muscle-machine interface technologies using physiological signals (primarily sEMG). The work spans:
Close collaboration with researchers in neuroscience, engineering, and ethics.
Human-in-the-loop brain/muscle-machine experimentation focused on learning pedagogy for adaptive neural systems.
Design and implementation of gamified environments for incorporating user feedback into system design.
Research design around the ethics of privacy and sense-of-agency in system design.
Longitudinal analysis across time and conditions
Algorithm design and modeling.

- The SPT I is responsible for general support functions within the Specimen Processing Department. This position requires a data entry background.

- The SPT I must have to the ability learn and understand the compliance regulations related to test ordering which may change on a daily basis. This position is critical to quality for customer satisfaction.
- Additionally, since many changes do occur from day to day, great flexibility on the part of the SPT I is required. The SPT I will be exposed to many different demands made by the customer.
- Majority of SPT I work on the night shift but based on staffing needs, weekends, holidays, on call and overtime availability is a requirement.

- Edit draft proposals to create highly competitive submissions and review proposal feedback for potential re-submission opportunities and/or submission to other grant agencies.
- Connect scientists to resources.
- Track and coordinate participation in ongoing funding opportunities.
- Assist various department staff in writing periodic reports to comply with grant requirements.
Compliance
- Coordinate annual renewal applications, protocol amendments, and prepare expedited IRB notification of protocol violations and ensure adherence to IRB, regulatory and institutional requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration, Business Administration, or related field is preferred.
- 2 + years of related experience. IRB submission background and understanding of the different types of research preferred.
- Ability to translate complex scientific information into practical communications.
- Ability to provide guidance and instruction to residency coordinators and program directors.
- Must be skilled at problem solving and diplomatically handling problems of a sensitive and/or confidential nature.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

The School of Psychology at the Georgia Institute of Technology places a strong emphasis on scientific research, discovery & innovation, and interdisciplinary education. Housed in the beautifully renovated J. S. Coon Building, a historical landmark in the center of campus, the School is a member of the College of Sciences. Job Summary
The Hybrid Intelligence Lab at Georgia Tech is seeking a postdoctoral fellow with a strong background in human factors and machine learning.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will lead research on team performance prediction and the multi-modal data fusion and modeling.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in a related field by the start date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong theoretical knowledge of human factors and assessment methods (including performance, physiological, and subjective assessments)
- Experience in machine learning.
- Experience in developing and applying computational techniques to analyze bio-behavioral data (e.g. neural, conversational, physiological, behavioral, or eye tracking)
- A strong track record of peer reviewed publications and presentations.

Monitors and evaluates completeness of patient intake. Selects, approves, and documents treatment priorities through a treatment plan. Reviews level of care for appropriateness. Evaluates and approves referral sources. Prepares and delivers briefings and presentations. Conducts meetings, conferences, etc. Establishes cooperative agreements among various treatment providers. Monitors, evaluates, and approves use of community resources. Provides reports and approves consults.
2. ADMINISTRATION: Executes performance initiatives (PI) through revision of clinical standards and procedures; performs special actions and a variety of program administrative duties; and performs a wide variety of quality management/quality assurance (QM/QA) duties to meet Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) requirements, using expert knowledge of the general and specific concepts, principles, procedures, and practices relating to psychological counseling; expert knowledge of psychodynamics, psychopathology, and therapeutic techniques; ability to analyze clinical assessments of patients; skill in written communication; and skill in oral communication. Monitors, maintains, and secures test instrument inventory. Approves selection of various tests. Interprets various complex tests. Provides consultation regarding testing and interpreting issues. Qualifications
Who May Apply: US Citizens
Degree: Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology.
Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes performing psychological evaluations, developing behavioral health treatment plans, and providing psychological counseling services. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
License: The Clinical Psychologist position requires a current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice Psychology independently, offered by a U.S. State, District of Columbia, commonwealth, territory or jurisdiction.
Must be Basic Life Support (BLS) certified.
