The Role We Want You For
As a Project Cost Engineer, you will assist in the development and management of the project financial strategy. You will be working directly with the project management team to manage the project budget, costs, change orders, pricing requests, billings, and forecasts. You will be responsible for generating and maintaining reports that provide information to different groups, work with the management team to identify variances, risks and maintain quality control processes to improve project cost procedures and ensuring conformity with management's strategy.
The Specifics of the Role
- Works with all project disciplines to ensure understanding of total project cost budget allowances and targets.
- Review project documents and specifications to accurately identify, develop and track request of change orders (owner and subcontractor related), baseline estimates, potential risk exposures while communicating potential impacts to the financial targets, schedule, and overall project management process.
- Works closely with the accounting department to ensure the correct integration of all information needed to ensure accuracy in billings, payment applications, change orders, direct cost, labor cost, etc.
- Works closely with the project management team, executive management personnel, subcontractors, as well as occasional contact with clients.
- Responsible for cost engineering, cost estimation, cost analysis, and control activities for projects with significant non-routine requirements or for proposal estimating activities which require a moderate degree of technical skill and experience.
- Ensuring quality, accuracy, consistency, spend profile, performing change management, and transparency in all cost management deliverables.
- Take ownership of the cost control function and ensure integrity of the cost and forecast reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or Construction Management, or related degree.
- 0-3 years of Project Cost experience.
- Preferred 1 year of experience in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of project development stages, procurement, project controls, and construction execution practices is required.
- Working knowledge of applicable computer software such as PMWeb or similar project portfolio management software, DataServ, Excel, JD Edwards, or related software programs.

The Role We Want You For
As the Project Manager (Mechanical Procurement), you will lead HVAC/mechanical procurement from award through closeout—executing the buyout strategy, managing vendor performance, and ensuring equipment and materials arrive on time and per contract. You will partner with Clayco project teams, design partners, and field leadership to coordinate submittals, releases, logistics, and change management while maintaining strong supplier relationships and driving favorable commercial outcomes.
The Specifics of the Role
- Develop and execute project-specific mechanical procurement strategies from award to closeout, aligned to schedule, budget, and project standards.
- Lead vendor sourcing, qualification, and negotiations; establish and maintain relationships with OEMs, reps, distributors, fabricators, and service partners.
- Manage contracts/purchase orders for mechanical scopes (equipment, materials, services); track compliance to terms, insurance, and deliverables.
- Coordinate and manage the submittal process (equipment, specialties, controls, startup requirements), including review cycles and release milestones.
- Own order management and expediting: monitor lead times, manufacturing progress, FATs (when applicable), shipping, storage, and just-in-time deliveries.
- Drive coordination with field teams on access, rigging/setting plans, sequencing, and site constraints; resolve delivery and installation conflicts early.
- Manage changes: evaluate impacts, price change orders, document scope, and coordinate approvals with vendors and the project team.
- Approve invoices as required; verify received quantities, freight, tax, and alignment to progress/billing terms.
- Support closeout: warranties, O&M manuals, as-built documentation handoff inputs, spare parts, training/startup documentation, and final supplier reconciliation.
- Assist in seeking, exploring, and securing new revenue and procurement opportunities across the mechanical supply base (volume agreements, preferred vendors).
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of mechanical construction and HVAC systems/equipment; able to interpret plans/specs and manage procurement deliverables end-to-end.
- 5+ years of procurement experience preferred with demonstrated success managing buyout through closeout; strong mechanical/HVAC background required.
- Proven ability to manage multiple vendors and schedules simultaneously, including long-lead equipment and logistics constraints.
- Strong commercial acumen: contract terms, negotiations, escalation, freight, warranty/service provisions, and risk management.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills; proficiency with Excel and common PM/procurement platforms.
- Experience supporting large-scale commercial/industrial projects and major HVAC equipment procurement (AHUs, RTUs, chillers, boilers, pumps, BAS/controls) preferred.
- Experience building or administering volume purchasing agreements / preferred supplier programs preferred.

About Clayco Systems and Equipment Innovations (SEI)
As part of our integrated service offerings, Clayco’s Systems and Equipment Innovations (SEI) offers a turnkey solution to execute complex building systems and process systems. Clayco SEI provides preconstruction, design, purchasing, and installation of mechanical, electrical, and process scopes of work.
The Role We Want You For
As a Project Manager with SEI, you will be based on the construction project site. In this role you will be responsible for project staff to lead the project in overall project execution, quality, safety, and schedule of various scopes. These scopes may include structural, mechanical, electrical, and other trades related to building and process systems on highly complex projects nationwide., These responsibilities will cover the full life cycle of the project including planning, construction, start up, testing, commissioning, and turnover. The Field Administrative Assistant takes the lead in providing comprehensive support to Clayco Project Managers, Project Engineers, Superintendents, Mission Control and Technical Services, as assigned. Prepare daily and monthly reports, checks outboxes and distributes mail. Assist Clayco in document management by entering and processing of subcontracts, purchase orders, letters of intent, change orders, safety audits, submittals, bid packages, entering punch-list items and updating the information thru the completion of the job and other paper work processing. Follow up with subcontractors and suppliers if executed documents are missing. Acts on own initiative, with a minimal amount of supervision, and yet is a team player. This person is assigned to project teams and will need to be organized, focused and a quick learner.
The Specifics of the Role:
- Prepares correspondence (typing).
- Readily assists with whatever is needed to accomplish the company’s objectives. This includes typing, filing, copying, binding, scanning, and whatever else is necessary. This will also include document retrieval for auditing and litigation as needed.
- Retrieves, scans, transmits and electronically (or physically) distributes executed subcontracts, change orders and other documents associated with projects. This is an extremely important responsibility.

The Role We Want You For
The primary function of the Miscellaneous Metals Estimator, Steel Procurement is to provide accurate bid proposals for Miscellaneous Metals and scope analysis for potential construction projects.
The Specifics of the Role:
- Responsible for accurate material quantity take-off
- Develops comprehensive, detailed proposal for the project estimated
- Maintain project budget throughout each project, with profit and loss accountability
- Identify opportunities for change orders and establish cost where applicable
- Prepare, issue and track change order status for material above and beyond the original contract
- Develop options and recommend best value solutions based on cost, engineering, quality, or availability of materials
- Additional responsibilities include quote review, project management, and material purchasing
- Ensure department achieves goals through management and leadership mentality
- Functions as Lead Estimator
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience
- Bachelors degree in Construction management or Engineer recommended.
- Knowledge of construction principles/practices required
- Problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
- Project set up, budget planning, buy out, and cost reporting experience is a must
- Good understanding of critical path scheduling.
- Energetic and highly motivated with a strong sense of urgency
- Entrepreneurial and self-motivated, with the ability to work equally well on own as well as in a team environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of building construction combined with steel design concepts presented on architectural and engineering drawings
- Ability to understand construction drawings and specifications.
- Ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite, On-Screen Estimating software and ACC Build
- Knowledge of Miscellaneous Metals

- Candidates must have a strong understanding of detailed estimating, estimating techniques and cost control
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Candidates should be able to clearly articulate bid inclusions, exclusions, and proposal clarifications with owners and subcontractors
- Must be able to multitask and prioritize responsibilities
- Review proposals, specifications, drawing, attend pre-bid meetings, etc…to determine scope of work and develop quantity take-offs
- Develops and maintains relationships with general contractor
- Responsible for buyout process with Project Manager.

The Role We Want You For
The Senior Project Engineer will be based on the construction project site and will provide high level support to the project staff to ensure quality and timely execution of design-build projects from design to completion. These phases include: Scheduling, subcontractor buyout, cost reporting, preparation of subcontracts, the handling of owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closeout. You may run smaller projects on your own, mentor Project Engineers, Summer Construction Interns, and take on the additional responsibilities to become a Project Manager.
The Specifics of the Role
- Participate with project team and preconstruction services in development of a Project Chart of Accounts.
- Coordinate with Project Superintendent in development of a project site logistics plan.
- Assist Superintendent in the management of subcontractors.
- Maintain understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract.
- Oversee the submittal, change order, and pay request process.
- Assist in generation of project costs and Job Cost Report.
- Contribute to the analyzing and forecast of quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
- Monitor and record training of all staff personnel.
- Monitor project labor.
- Report and track equipment needs.
- Assist preconstruction services in bidding projects.
- Implement applicable safety, EEO, and Affirmative Action programs.
- Participate in the project’s quality process.
- Contribute to schedule and project close-out processes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related.
- 3-7 years of experience managing construction projects ($5+ million) ideally design-build.
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction principles, practices, and technology.
- Previous experience leading a successful project management team.
- Ability to walk a job site, climb ladders, and scale multi-floor scaffolding.
- Ability to lift objects of at least 50 lbs.
