Salary range:
The UC academic salary scales set the minimum pay at appointment. See the following table for the current salary scale for this position: . TSP hourly rate $65. The current full-time salary range for Lecturer positions is $75,301 - $199,722. Starting salary is commensurate with highest degree, teaching experience, and equity within the department.

Position description
We are generating an applicant pool of qualified temporary instructors to teach regular and Summer Session courses, should an opening arise. In addition to lecturing responsibilities, general duties for these positions include laboratory teaching, holding regular office hours, assigning grades, advising students, and preparing course materials and exams.
We are also seeking applicants for Teacher Special Programs (TSP), should an opening arise. TSP instructors will be responsible for overseeing capstone projects in the Master of Engineering (MEng) program in the Department Mechanical Engineering. This includes: design and propose capstone projects and help match students into suitable projects. Meet with each capstone project team on a regular basis to review results, manage interpersonal aspects, and maintain efficient progress. Provide critical, constructive feedback on students' written reports and oral presentations. Coordinating and participating in the MS Plan II exam of each student at the end of the capstone project period. This pool encompasses engineering science and technology specializations relevant to both mechanical engineering and aerospace engineering.

What's the role? We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead our Models team. In this role, you will manage a team of motivated ICs to build the next generation of Etsy's models platform, which in turn will enable your customer teams to improve the quality of search, ads, recommendations, and other ML applications for nearly 100M buyers and over 5M sellers. What's this team like at Etsy? The Machine Learning Enablement Initiative builds and maintains a complete ecosystem of ML systems including our feature & embeddings store, model training, serving, orchestration and testing infrastructure. The Models team is responsible for the model catalog, APIs, and serving infrastructure that runs our online models at high scale (millions of inferences per second). It is a small team historically focused on operations, but transitioning to play a more direct role in the application layer. The team is presently leading Etsy's migration from Tensorflow to Pytorch, building upon an innovative architecture designed in-house and based on KServe, NVIDIA Triton, Apache Arrow, and Ray. We are using this opportunity to fill in historical gaps in automation, integration, and standardization across the ML platform. We aspire to unify modeling approaches across all major ML development teams at Etsy. What does the day-to-day look like? Meet with customers to understand their latest use cases. Work with your team and partners to translate those use cases into concrete requirements. Offer an informed point of view on engineering, system design, and machine learning considerations. Keep track of ongoing issues (stability, performance, cost) with models on the platform, and identify short-term fixes and long-term platform improvements. Maintain a product roadmap, lead agile processes and plan workstreams for a team of 4 ICs. Occasionally lead multi-functional \"tiger teams\" for dedicated projects. Coach your ICs and support their career development trajectories. Own and maintain the team's customer-facing surfaces: documentation, code examples, metrics, dashboards, UIs, launch announcements, etc. We are proud of our engineering culture that encourages career growth and learning in a blameless environment. Qualities that will help you thrive are: A strong track record of developing and serving machine learning models at scale, with at least 4 years in a leadership capacity (tech lead or EM) and 2 years as an engineering manager. You like to be deep in the technical work, but you can also build partnerships across teams in a highly collaborative environment. Passion for building platforms that don't just work, but that are easy to maintain and extend, and are delightful to use. You are a strong collaborator, communicator, and coach and you are passionate about helping the engineers around you grow and learn. You have 5+ years of experience building, iterating and solving complex problems with a significant backend component. Background and hands-on experience with Cloud technologies (Google Cloud, AWS, Kubernetes) is a plus.

Manage client communications and expectations

A minimum of ten years of relevant project management and engineering experience executing capital projects covering design development and coordination, specifications development, cost estimation, budget management, change control management, plan check and permit acquisition, creation of construction and contract documents, CQV, and construction administration
Experience with pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device projects (preferred)
A working knowledge of a broad range of engineering disciplines including civil/site work, structural, architectural, mechanical systems (refrigeration, chillers, cooling towers, boilers, hot water, domestic water, compressed air, plumbing, HVAC), and electrical power distribution
Plant engineering experience (preferred)
Project execution experience of projects within an A/E/C design firm
Experience with facility utility design projects for manufacturing and distribution clients

Solid computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Project
