POSITION OVERVIEW


We are seeking an energetic, driven, and experienced Shop Foreman to lead our production floor. This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our operation — the person who keeps all the moving parts in sync. You will serve as the primary liaison between the shop floor and our engineering, project management, finishing, and shipping/receiving departments, ensuring that every project is executed to the exacting standards our clients expect.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES


Production & Scheduling

•       Oversee and manage end-to-end production schedules from project award through final delivery, ensuring on-time completion across all active projects.

•       Coordinate manpower allocation, assigning work based on production schedules, available labor, and individual skill sets.

•       Monitor project progress daily, identify bottlenecks or risks early, and adjust plans proactively to keep projects on track.

•       Serve as the central hub of communication between the shop floor, engineering, project management, finishing, and shipping/receiving departments.


Leadership & Team Development

•       Lead, motivate, and inspire the fabrication team to perform at their best — setting the tone for a professional, positive, and high-accountability shop culture.

•       Champion strong attendance, adherence to company policy, and a sense of shared pride in the work we produce.

•       Identify and develop talent within the team; help build individual skill sets and career paths for shop staff.

•       Address performance concerns directly and constructively, implementing clear corrective action plans when needed.

•       Develop and maintain a comprehensive shop training program to ensure all staff are proficient on all equipment and production processes.


Quality Control

•       Develop, implement, and continuously improve a quality control program that ensures all work meets Traditional Woodworks’ exacting standards and project specifications.

•       Inspect products and processes at every stage of production to maximize both efficiency and quality.

•       Instill a culture where quality is everyone’s responsibility — not just a final check.


Safety & Compliance

•       Enforce all safety procedures and policies on the shop floor, including proper PPE usage, equipment operation standards, and environmental exposure protocols.

•       Develop and implement safety training programs and incident reporting procedures.

•       Lead a proactive safety culture — identifying and addressing hazards before they become incidents.


Equipment & Facilities

•       Develop and manage a weekly shop maintenance program to ensure all equipment operates safely and at peak performance.

•       Coordinate equipment repairs, preventive maintenance, and the acquisition and integration of new machinery or tooling.

•       Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient shop environment.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS


•       Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience in a professional woodshop setting, with a high level of proficiency in woodworking techniques, materials, and construction.

•       Minimum 3 years of direct supervisory or management experience, preferably in a woodworking or custom manufacturing environment.

•       Deep knowledge of wood species, engineered materials, sheet goods, hardware, joinery methods, and millwork assembly techniques.

•       Demonstrated ability to operate a wide variety of woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and skillfully.

•       Proven ability to read, interpret, and work from architectural drawings, shop drawings, and technical specifications.

•       Strong organizational skills with experience managing complex, multi-project production schedules.

•       Excellent communication skills — clear, honest, direct, and respectful.

•       Strong problem-solving ability; able to think on your feet and find practical solutions to technical and logistical challenges.

•       High level of accountability, integrity, and a genuine passion for quality craftsmanship.

A key component of our Reentry Program is employment experience and training in our Machine Shop Social Enterprise. Our 18-month program provides on-the-job training for our members to become DOL and DAS certified CNC machine operators. 


Responsibilities:

·        Works with the machine shop manager and the other supervisors to efficiently run the machine shop and training program.

·        Work in a hands-on role in all machine shop functions, including programming and running CNC mills & lathes.

·        Communicate instructions in a training atmosphere for the members of our program.

·        Ensure the timely and accurate production of parts to meet the shop output needs.

·        Use Master-Cam and Fusion 360 or other cam systems to produce CNC mill & lathe programs.

·        Maintain workflow and follow quality control system using E2Shop.

Qualifications:

·        Solid understanding of basic and advanced machining principles of mill & lathes primarily

·        Ability to teach machining skills to program members.

·        Effective communication skills, including fluency in English.

·        Ability to work well in a team environment

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

As a Shop Mechanic, you will work on all makes and models of agriculture equipment in the shop ensuring equipment repairs are done accurately and timely. All your hard work is geared toward supporting our customers and maximizing their uptime.

Each day, you will be analyzing and diagnosing agriculture equipment malfunctions or failures. You will then repair, replace or rebuild engines, transmissions, carburetors, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components including pump motors, valves, and all related components, electrical systems, and air systems. Additionally, you will assist with pre-delivery setup and installation on all makes and models of John Deere equipment and allied products.

WHAT YOU NEED:

  • 2 or more years of working knowledge of small engines and agricultural equipment including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic systems, and air conditioning systems.

  • Must provide own tools.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of 8 employees, consisting of 6 shop employees, 1 driver, and 1 salesperson
  • Complete and maintain paperwork of material received, produced and shipped
  • Oversee inventory management and adjustments
  • Assist with recruiting and interviewing for vacant positions
  • Ensure safety work protocols per OSHA Industrial Safety Standards
  • Plan, assist and oversee maintenance of shop equipment so that downtime is minimized and equipment functions as safely as possible
  • Oversee and perform quality inspections of completed work so that the correct quantity of correctly fabricated and correctly tagged material will be shipped to the proper customer’s destination
  • Perform various jobs such as operation of shear line, bender, crane operator and fork-lift operator among others, so the shift work is done efficiently and on time
  • Performs and/or assist on other duties as assigned


Experience and Skill Requirements:

  • Previous Rebar Fabrication experience preferred
  • Forklift and overhead crane operation knowledge
  • Previous experience with aSa Rebar System
  • Must meet attendance standards
  • Able to interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required
  • Strong mathematical skills are required
  • Strong customer service orientation
