About the Role

We’re looking for a motivated and skilled HVAC Controls Technician to join our growing team! An HVAC Controls Technician is responsible for programming, troubleshooting, startup, checkout, and servicing of Building Automation Systems (BAS). Key duties include configuring and optimizing system performance, diagnosing and resolving issues, and ensuring proper integration of HVAC controls. The technician will also work closely with project teams, contractors, and clients to ensure seamless operation and functionality of the BAS. Strong technical expertise in control systems, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in field environments are essential for this role. What You’ll Do

• Program, configure, and optimize Building Automation Systems (BAS).
• Perform startup, checkout, and commissioning for new projects.
• Troubleshoot control issues and resolve HVAC system integration challenges.
• Conduct point-to-point verification and ensure systems meet design specifications.
• Assist with field service calls during project and warranty phases.
• Guide and support electrical subcontractors on project sites.
• Deliver materials, monitor installations, and maintain communication with the project team.
• Update and correct manual drawings for engineering and documentation accuracy.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and assist with support agreements.
• Collaborate with management to develop a personalized professional growth plan.

• Technical school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 5-7 years' experience with Mechanical / Electronic part inspection in a manufacturing or production Environment.
• Experience in quality with machined / mechanical parts using GD&T interpretation, able to do programs for automatic inspection with Optical Vision Systems and CMMs. plus. Able to use Profilometers and special Microscopes for visual characteristics with other measuring tools and instruments.
• Knowledgeable with AS9102 FAIR (First Article Inspection Report) documentation and Inspection.

Senior Automation & Controls Engineer - Food & Beverage Description:

• Responsible for compliance with company and project site safety policies
• Design responsibility for all Automation and Controls scope on the project
• Leads a team of Automation and Controls Engineers, Specialists, and Designers in the execution of design
• Interfaces with a multi-faceted project team internally consisting of project manager, electrical, controls, estimating, procurement, construction, and other engineering disciplines
• Responsible for leading and developing software design deliverables including PLC and HMI programming design deliverables as well as Batch, MES, servers and virtualization
• Responsible for commissioning and startup of those design deliverables
• Lead and prepare controls design deliverables, including instrument/device list, I/O list, controls narratives, control panel and controls hardware design, device location plan drawings and installation details
• Lead the specification, design, and procurement activities for control panel and equipment vendors, manage vendor progression, and lead the Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs)
• Lead and prepare electrical design deliverables including 480VAC and below equipment and motor power design, installation plan drawings, and conductor schedules
• Determine process instrument measurements protocols, such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, analyzers, and control valves. Utilize knowledge of various technologies for selecting the appropriate controls application

• Responsible for updates, upgrades and maintenance of the following systems: Rail Operations Control System (ROCS); Predictive Arrival and Departure System (PADS), Positive Train Control (PTC) back-office systems, Traction Power Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System and Rail Scheduling.
• Perform Quality Assurances and system engineering support of all back off systems including PTC office systems, Back Office Server (BOS), Rail Operations Control System (ROCS), Network Management System (NMS); Interoperable Train Control Message Server (ITCMS); Wayside Status Relay Service (WSRS), and the interfaces to all other operational systems.
• Develop, document, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), technical standards, and best practices for all train control and related systems to ensure consistency, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and implement training programs to upskill staff, mentoring team members at all levels on train control systems, operational procedures, and project management to strengthen technical capacity, foster skill development, and ensure succession planning. 
• Ensure Caltrain systems meet Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) mandated interoperability requirements with all tenant railroads; ensure Caltrain train control systems are compatible with Association of American Railroads (AAR) standards; follow the ITC guidelines that Caltrain must maintain ?N-2? backwards compatible software versions.
• Manage complex and large-scale train control engineering projects as the Technical Lead for Caltrain. 
• Manage the work of outside contractors and assist higher level Caltrain Directors and Executives in planning and evaluating the quantity and quality of work performed by subordinate staff.
• Supervise staff.  Hire, mentor, and take appropriate corrective and/or disciplinary action.  Ensure EEO policies and procedures are followed. • Establish and maintain work relationships with internal and external stakeholders to develop consensus on capital project work plans.

• Manage technical elements of the office systems warranty and long-term maintenance support service agreements.
• Review and approve operating manuals and procedures developed by various systems providers or vendors.
• Manage all technology refresh and software upgrades/updates and associated testing without interrupting regular railroad operations.
• Establish and lead a knowledge management framework to systematically capture, update, and share institutional knowledge through structured documentation, training programs, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
• Participate in the preparation and administration of the train control engineering program budget (Operating & Maintenance, and Capital); submit budget recommendations; monitor expenditures.
• Review consultant proposals and designs; recommend awards; conduct or participate in the pre-bid conferences prior to system contract awards.

• Bachelor?s degree in electrical/electronics, computer science, or a related field.
• Five (5) years of railroad industry experience in Train Control System and SCADA system development and maintenance.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Process Control Technician Specialist to provide hands-on support for the process control systems that drive our metal, alloy, and component-making facility. This role is designed for a skilled technician with experience in troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs, HMIs, and industrial process control systems.The ideal candidate will support daily plant operations, lead equipment-based improvements, and contribute to the implementation of OPEX projects and continuous improvement initiatives across a complex, high-tech manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties:

• Provide hands-on technical support for plant process control systems, including routine checks, basic maintenance, and troubleshooting equipment or system faults.
• Provide daily technical support for plant process control systems, including troubleshooting and maintaining PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, sensors, and safety systems to ensure smooth and safe operations.
• Respond to process control-related issues as part of an on-call rotation,including after-hours support as needed.
• Assist in implementing and maintaining standard operating procedures for process control systems and support response protocols.
• Support troubleshooting efforts led by engineers to minimize downtime and ensure continuous improvement of system performance.
• Document and report system issues,maintenance actions, and resolution outcomes to engineering leadership.
• Perform routine inspections of process control equipment to identify and report wear,potential failure points, or improvement opportunities.
• Support continuous improvement (CI) and OPEX projects by implementing changes to process control systems, improving equipment functionality, and reducing downtime.
• Perform hands-on installation, testing, and calibration of process control components—such as instrumentation, control panels, and field devices.
• Read, interpret, and redline electrical schematics, P&IDs, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams for existing or modified systems.
• Support the programming, configuration, and maintenance of process control platforms including Rockwell (Studio 5000), FactoryTalk View, and Siemens TIA Portal.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance of process control systems; perform software backups, maintain change logs, and document all control system activities.
• Interface regularly with operators, maintenance, engineering, and EHS teams to ensure process control systems meet operational and safety requirements.
• Assist with commissioning and startup of new or modified process control systems, ensuring compliance with performance specifications.
• Use diagnostic tools (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes, network analyzers) to test and troubleshoot control signals and communications.
• Collaborate with other technicians, operators, and engineering staff to support safe, efficient plant operations.
• Support training efforts for maintenance and operations staff to improve system knowledge and troubleshooting capabilities.

Basic Qualifications:

• Associate degree or equivalent technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Automation, Mechatronics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience working with PLC and HMI-based process control systems in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in reading, interpreting, and modifying control system documentation such as electrical drawings and schematics.
• Hands-on experience with Rockwell (Allen-Bradley), Siemens, or similar process control platforms.
• Familiarity with industrial communication protocols: EtherNet/IP, Profinet, Modbus TCP.
• Comfortable working in an industrial environment with chemical,mechanical, and thermal processes.
• Experience using diagnostic tools such as multimeters, loop calibrators, and signal simulators.
