GENERAL SUMMARY

The Manufacturing Engineering Supervisor is responsible for providing leadership to the Manufacturing Engineering team to advance manufacturing by reducing cost, improving quality, expanding safety, and increasing on-time delivery. This position functions as a working supervisor and is expected to both lead the team and directly perform hands-on manufacturing engineering activities as the business needs require.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

  • Leading project teams to acquire, integrate and implement technologies into manufacturing and production processes.
  • Ensure appropriate procedures and support documentation are maintained properly and efficiently. Includes: Manufacturing processes, NC programming, tooling, and tool design documentation.
  • Manages capital equipment requisitions, ensuring competitive cost, process fulfillment, and quality needs are satisfied.
  • Supports new product development to ensure manufacturability, cost, and quality from design concept to production release.
  • Manages shop floor tooling and facility operating expenses.
  • Assist and support plant and facility maintenance and improvements.
  • Serve as a player-coach by executing hands-on manufacturing engineering tasks in addition to supervisory responsibilities.
  • Manage the design/build of tooling and fixtures to support production and launch new parts in production.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE


  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Industrial Engineering preferred.
  • 10 years' experience in an Engineering/Operations environment with 3-5 years in a Managerial position.

Job Summary

The School of Aerospace Engineering ( ) at the Georgia Institute of Technology invites applications for multiple tenure-track faculty positions. Applicants will be considered at all ranks and in any technical areas of relevance to aerospace systems, interpreted broadly. These areas include artificial intelligence and dynamical systems.

Typically reporting to the School Chair, the Professor is a tenured/tenure-track faculty member who performs a combination of teaching, research, and service. Professors may hold administrative appointments as long as the majority of their time is dedicated to teaching, research, and service. Professors hold a terminal degree and have normally spent three or more years at the rank of Associate Professor. The position is located at the Atlanta Campus, Atlanta Georgia.
