Director of Engineering – PLM & Data Governance
Location – Evansville, IN
The Director of Engineering – PLM & Data Governance is responsible for the strategy, architecture, governance, and operational reliability of the organization’s digital engineering ecosystem. This role oversees Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), CAD configuration management, and engineering data infrastructure.
This leader ensures that engineering artifacts such as CAD models, bills of materials, specifications, requirements, revisions, and engineering change records are accurate, secure, compliant, and accessible across the organization. The role also supports the development of a consistent digital thread connecting product development, manufacturing, and lifecycle support.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Systems Ownership
- Provide strategic direction and lifecycle management for PLM, CAD configuration management, and related engineering platforms.
- Define system architecture, configuration standards, lifecycle schemes, and long-term system roadmaps.
- Ensure system reliability, scalability, security, and performance.
Data Governance Leadership
- Establish policies, standards, and controls for engineering and product data.
- Define naming conventions, metadata structures, and data ownership models.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, traceability, and audit readiness.
- Lead master data governance efforts for product-related information.
Digital Thread Integration
- Drive integration between PLM and enterprise systems such as ERP, MES, QMS, analytics platforms, and other business systems.
- Ensure accurate and automated transfer of key product data including:
- Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Item master data
- Revisions
- Engineering change information
- Enable visibility into engineering utilization and product lifecycle performance.
Change and Configuration Management
- Standardize and automate engineering change workflows including ECR, ECO, ECN, and deviation processes.
- Establish structured and configurable BOM management practices.
- Maintain synchronization between Engineering BOM (EBOM) and Manufacturing BOM (MBOM).
- Implement centralized configuration rules and variant management.
- Ensure automated workflow notifications and task assignments for stakeholders.
Team Leadership and Organizational Development
- Lead and develop the data management team, including PLM administrators, data engineers, and system architects.
- Coordinate activities across distributed or global teams.
- Establish clear process ownership and accountability across engineering data domains.
- Strengthen capabilities in systems administration, governance, and analytics.
Continuous Improvement and Modernization
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements, automation, and workflow improvements.
- Lead multi-year initiatives including:
- PLM platform upgrades
- ERP integrations
- Data governance programs
- Enterprise system integrations
- Reduce manual work, rework, and data errors through process and system improvements.
Training and Capability Development
- Define and standardize training approaches for engineering systems and data management processes.
- Develop documentation and knowledge transfer practices to support system adoption and long-term sustainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in PLM, engineering systems, or product data management leadership roles
- Experience administering and managing PLM platforms (Autodesk Vault Professional preferred)
- Strong understanding of CAD data management, BOM structures (EBOM and MBOM), and engineering change processes
- Experience integrating PLM with ERP or other enterprise systems
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing technical teams, including distributed or global teams
- Experience establishing data governance standards and improving engineering data systems and processes
Overview
The Sr Design Engineer will work in a cross-functional that designs, develops, manufactures, and services tankless water heaters, boilers, and other products. Knowledge of building the entire system as well as individual components is preferred.
Build, assemble, test prototypes, and put together the entire system. Hands-on work and prior exposure to castings, sheet metals, O-rings, water & gas manifolds are necessary. Identify, develop, and manage select suppliers with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

Job Overview
- We are seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to support, maintain, and enhance automation systems within our Injection Molding facility.
- The role involves developing, troubleshooting, and optimizing control systems for injection Molding machines, auxiliaries, and related automation to ensure high efficiency, quality, and reliability of production.
- Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain PLC/HMI/SCADA-based control systems for injection Moulding machines and auxiliary equipment (robots, dryers, chillers, conveyors, etc.).
- Troubleshoot electrical and automation issues to minimize downtime.
- Program and modify PLCs (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, etc.) and HMIs to improve cycle times, efficiency, and safety.
- Vision systems (Cognex, Keyence, Omron, Sick, Basler, OpenCV-based solutions) for inspection and defect detection.
- Integrated vision inspection systems for in-line defect detection, dimensional accuracy, and traceability.
- Integrate new machines, robotics, and automation equipment into existing systems.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, electrical codes, and company policies.
- Collaborate with maintenance, production, and quality teams to resolve automation and process-related issues.
- Provide documentation (wiring diagrams, control logic, program backups, change logs).
- Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities for automation systems.
- Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives such as Industry 4.0/IIoT integration, data acquisition, and energy optimization.
- Train technicians and operators on control system functionalities and troubleshooting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in automation/controls engineering, preferably in plastics or injection Moulding industry.
- Hands-on experience with PLC programming (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, or similar).
- Familiarity with robotics (Fanuc robot, SCARA robot or similar) and integration with Moulding machines.
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, OPC-UA).
- Experience with SCADA, HMI development, and data logging systems.
- Solid understanding of electrical schematics, motor controls, VFDs, and safety circuits.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced production environment.
- Good communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Preferred (Nice-to-Have)
- Experience in injection Moulding process optimization (cycle time reduction, scrap reduction).
- Knowledge of Industry 4.0, MES, or IIoT platforms.
- Exposure to vision systems and quality inspection automation.

Position Summary:
The CAD Designer will be responsible for creating and modifying 3D models and 2D drawings of automotive headlamp components and assemblies using PTC Creo.
This role will also involve managing and organizing design data within the Windchill Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of mechanical design principles, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively within a team to support the development and production of our lighting products.
Position Duties:
- Develop detailed 3D models of automotive headlamp components and assemblies using PTC Creo based on engineering specifications, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Generate accurate and comprehensive 2D engineering drawings, including GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) in accordance with industry and company standards.
- Manage and maintain CAD data within the Windchill PLM system, including part creation, document control, and workflow adherence.
- Collaborate closely with product engineers, tooling engineers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs are feasible for production and meet all functional and aesthetic requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, providing input and proposing solutions to design challenges.
- Implement engineering change orders (ECOs) accurately and efficiently within Creo and Windchill.
- Ensure all CAD models and drawings adhere to company standards and best practices.
- Maintain a strong understanding of automotive industry standards and regulations related to lighting products.
- Assist in the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) and other related engineering documentation.
- Continuously improve CAD skills and knowledge of Creo and Windchill functionalities.
- Troubleshoot basic CAD-related issues and seek assistance from senior team members when necessary.
