Summary/Objective of Role

The Technical Director is responsible for the performance and stability of our plating chemistry and wastewater treatment (WWT) systems.

This role ensures chemistry and WWT processes operate safely, consistently, efficiently and within defined operating parameters so production reliably meets customer specifications. The role focuses on building and maintaining disciplined process control systems so plating chemistry and wastewater treatment operate predictably and support stable production.

The Technical Director leads the company’s chemistry teams across all facilities, establishes strong process control systems, and drives continuous improvement.

We operate facilities in Ashtabula, Ohio; Jefferson, Ohio; and El Paso, Texas, each with a chemistry and wastewater treatment team reporting to the Technical Director.

Essential Functions

Process Control

  • Define operating targets and specification limits for plating chemistry and WWT systems
  • Ensure plating baths remain within optimal operating parameters
  • Review titration, Hull cell, and lab data to detect and correct issues
  • Lead root cause analysis when plating results fall outside expectations

Wastewater Treatment & Compliance

  • Ensure wastewater treatment systems consistently operate within permitted limits
  • Troubleshoot treatment issues and restore process control
  • Maintain compliance with EPA and environmental regulations

Leadership

  • Lead Chemistry Managers and Chemistry Technicians across all facilities
  • Set clear expectations and hold teams accountable for performance
  • Coach and develop team members to strengthen technical capability

Continuous Improvement

  • Reduce process variation, scrap, rework, and chemical consumption
  • Work with suppliers and industry experts to evaluate new chemistries and processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve plating efficiency and reliability

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Quality, and Procurement to improve process performance
  • Support troubleshooting, product development, and operational improvements

Systems & Metrics Ownership

  • Training of applicators to properly and efficiently install Sika Sarnafil roofing and waterproofing systems in an effort to ensure quality and contractor profitability. Provide training to others as needed.
  • Overseeing the application process by attending job starts and performing in-progress project visits to monitor and enforce proper installation. Assure that application is in accordance with good roofing practices and Sarnafil specifications through documentation with field reports. Help to resolve installation problems and issues as they arise.
  • Conducting final inspections for technical acceptance for warranty issuance.
  • Act as the liaison between the applicator, General contractor, consultant, architect, building owner, and Sarnafil during the installation process.
  • Advising Technical Manager concerning progress, issues, problems project needs.
  • Assist Sales and others with pre-job meetings, roof surveys, and warranty claim issues.
  • Following up on leak and warranty claim calls, and complete necessary Sarnafil repairs as needed.
  • Inspection of existing Sarnafil roofs for warranty transfers, warranty extensions, and annual inspections.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, preferably Associate degree
  • 2-5 years of work experience in the roofing industry
  • Technical knowledge of single-ply roof membrane installation, ideally Sarnafil
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel extensively within the region, some overnight travel (via car, train and plane)
  • Computer literacy

About the Role:

Refactor Games is a AAA sports video game studio. We are developing the next generation of professional football (soccer) video games using Unreal Engine 5.


We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Game Designer to design, implement, and iterate core game systems that define how our AAA European football video game feels, behaves, and engages players — across gameplay, modes, progression, and meta structures. You’ll work hands-on within Unreal Engine (Blueprints and scripting) to prototype, tune, and ship systems while bridging the gap between creative design vision and engineering execution.


In this role, you’ll collaborate closely with designers, engineers, animators, UX, and production to ensure our football systems, from player mechanics to match-level logic, are robust, reusable, well-documented, and optimized for performance.

Experience:

  • 3+ years of professional game design or technical design experience.
  • Including work on at least one shipped title (AAA or high-quality).


What You'll Work On:

  • Implement gameplay systems using Unreal Engine Blueprints and gameplay scripting, ensuring fidelity, performance, and scalability across content.
  • Prototype new systems and features rapidly in editor and iterate based on feedback from design reviews and playtests.
  • Collaborate with engineering to define architecture, data flow, and scripting standards for game systems.
  • Tune system behavior for balance, player experience, and performance, using telemetry and designer instinct.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams (AI, animation, UX, economy, live ops) to ensure game systems integrate cleanly across features.
