This position is welding‑adjacent and fabrication‑focused, with an emphasis on inspection planning, supplier oversight, and corrective action, rather than serving as a full‑time welding inspector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead product and project quality execution for fabricated and welded equipment
- Develop and implement Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and quality monitoring strategies
- Support fabrication shops and suppliers with welding quality expectations, inspection readiness, and process controls
- Partner with Engineering to translate drawings, specifications, and standards into executable quality plans
- Lead root cause analysis, nonconformance resolution, and corrective/preventive actions
- Conduct and support supplier audits, qualification, and quality oversight
- Serve as a technical quality interface with internal teams and external customers
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across fabrication, inspection, and supplier performance
Required (Day‑1)
- Foundational / working knowledge of welding and fabrication environments
- Practical awareness of AWS welding standards (AWS D1‑level familiarity)
- Experience supporting welded fabrications, inspections, or supplier quality, even if not a certified welding inspector
Developable / Trainable
- Deeper application of AWS D1.1 / D1.6 and related welding codes
- Advanced welding inspection authority (training and mentorship supported)
Note: This role does not require Day‑1 CWI certification. Candidates with strong quality leadership and fabrication exposure who are trainable to higher welding depth are encouraged to apply.
Additional Qualifications
- Experience in industrial fabrication, welded assemblies, or engineered equipment
- Strong background in quality execution, inspection planning, and corrective action
- Supplier quality, audit, and oversight experience
- Ability to work cross‑functionally with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Project teams
- ISO 9001 experience in practical, shop‑floor environments preferred
- Lean / Six Sigma experience a plus
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline (Master’s a plus).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Quality, Project Quality, or Manufacturing Quality roles within pulp & paper, power, metals, chemical, process industries, or large fabrication environments.
- Foundational / working exposure to welding and fabrication environments, with familiarity to AWS welding standards at a practical (AWS D1‑level) awareness.
- Advanced welding code expertise can be developed with training and mentorship.
- Strong working knowledge of machining, surface preparation, and mechanical testing methods.
- Demonstrated ability to perform dimensional inspections, interpret drawings/specifications, and verify compliance across multiple stages of fabrication.
- Experience supporting or participating in supplier audits and supplier quality oversight (preferred).
- Experience with failure analysis, nonconformance resolution, and root cause analysis (RCA) (preferred).
- Familiarity with pulp & paper or other heavy industrial equipment is a plus.
- Ability and willingness to travel internationally (occasional travel to Asia and Europe as required).
Work Environment
This role requires daily cross-functional interaction with vendors, Sales, Engineering, Production, Quality Control, and Materials. Overnight travel by air or ground is required.
Why ANDRITZ
- Work on complex, engineered products in an industrial environment
- High visibility role with direct impact on product quality and supplier performance
- Opportunity to grow welding expertise within a strong quality organization
- Collaborative culture with long‑term career development
