Job Purpose: 
The Talent Acquisition Compliance Sr. Specialist ensures recruiting and hiring activities comply with employment and immigration laws, internal policies, and audit standards. This role monitors compliance controls, maintains accurate documentation, and identifies risks or process gaps across the Talent Acquisition lifecycle. As a trusted partner to Talent Acquisition, HR, and Compliance teams, the specialist promotes consistent, equitable, and compliant hiring practices. This position serves as a subject matter expert within I-9 hiring compliance, exercising broad independent judgment, providing strategic oversight, influencing policy and process design, and supporting enterprise risk mitigation efforts. 
Key Accountabilities:
•    Talent Acquisition Compliance
o    Oversee governance and monitor recruiting and hiring activities for compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations (e.g., EEO, OFCCP, I 9, background screening, data privacy) acting as the SME for I-9 hiring compliance
o    Apply established compliance controls and identify deviations, trends, or potential risks
o    Partner with TA and HR stakeholders to address compliance findings and drive effective counter measures
o    Interpret policies and procedures to ensure consistent application across hiring practices

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
•    Minimum of 3 years of experience in HR, Talent Acquisition, Compliance, or a related professional role with experience of employment law
•    Foundational knowledge of employment laws and compliance principles
•    Strong attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive, confidential information within HR Systems

Job Summary:

Position Overview

The Human Resources and Talent Management Manager will report directly to the Director of Operations and will work closely with leadership across Equity Union and its sister companies. This role is fully in-person and full-time, requiring collaboration with multiple leadership teams, occasional travel, in person office visit and direct engagement with staff across different regions.


Key Responsibilities


Recruitment & Talent Acquisition

• Develop and manage job descriptions and postings

• Actively source candidates through warm and cold outreach, including LinkedIn, indeed and other platforms

• Conduct interviews, background checks, and reference checks

• Prepare and manage offer letters and employment contracts

• Host recruiting workshops at universities and industry events

• Oversee onboarding for W2 employees and 1099 agents, including document processing


Policies, Compliance & Employee Records

• Build, update, and enforce company policies, guidelines, and employee handbooks

• Maintain accurate personnel records, contracts, tax forms, and certifications

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws

• Manage I-9 documentation, work authorization, and audit readiness


Payroll, Benefits & Administration

• Coordinate payroll with finance to ensure accuracy

• Manage health insurance and employee benefit programs

• Oversee PTO, vacation, sick leave, and timekeeping

• Support workers’ compensation and disability claims


Employee Relations & Engagement

• Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee concerns and questions

• Support conflict resolution and employee relations matters

• Drive retention initiatives and recognition programs

• Assist with company-wide meetings, agendas, and staff events


Performance, Development & Strategy

• Implement performance review and feedback processes

• Support leadership with coaching and development practices

• Lead workforce planning and succession initiatives

• Advise leadership on compensation strategy and culture alignment


Leadership Collaboration & Strategic Initiatives

• Manage company holiday coverage schedules strategically

• Oversee systems such as WIN and CRM access management

• Host and facilitate a monthly 20–30 minute leadership meeting covering legal updates, HR issues, and Q&A

• Partner with leadership across all companies to align HR strategy with business goals


Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of full-time experience in Human Resources roles (required, no exceptions)

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred

• Proven experience supporting multi-entity or growing organizations

• Strong knowledge of employment law, compliance, and HR best practices

• High energy, people-first leadership style with strong execution skills

• Ability to travel occasionally and work with geographically dispersed teams


Compensation & Work Environment

• Full-time, in-person position

• Base salary range: $110,000 – $130,000, commensurate with experience plus benefits

This role focuses on driving and closing deals brought in by originations, including underwriting, structuring, negotiating and closing equity investments on Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) affordable housing communities throughout the nation for a recognized leader in the field.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze projects to determine feasibility and run and manage projections that ensure project’s yield is maintained at closing
  • Assess market conditions, review and analyze all third party data (e.g. market studies, construction plan and cost reviews, Phase ones, appraisal, etc.); and other DD provided for underwriting guidelines
  • Underwrite transactions by addressing strengths/weaknesses of a transaction, including identifying how risks are managed
  • Oversee Underwriters who provide support in the closing of the LIHTC equity investment;
