Position description

The Interdisciplinary Social Sciences Program (ISSP) is the administrative unit that oversees the interdisciplinary majors, minors and graduate programs within the Social Sciences Division of the College of Letters and Sciences at UC Berkeley.



Housed in ISSP, the Master of Computational Social Science (MaCSS) is a new one-year professional master's program that will provide students with practical skills for analyzing, interpreting, and visualizing social data. Social data are data about people, groups, organizations, and their interactions from surveys and censuses, company websites, store loyalty cards, cell-phone records, social media posts, internet searches, etc. MaCSS graduates will be able to work as analysts and data specialists in business, non-profit, and government settings.



DUTIES OF THE POSITION: Teaching one or more of the following courses:

The College of Chemistry at the University of California, Berkeley is generating an applicant pool of qualified lecturers to teach graduate courses on the Berkeley campus for the Master of Molecular Science and Software Engineering (MSSE) Program should an opening arise. We are seeking dynamic lecturers with a commitment to graduate education in computational science, data science, and software engineering to lead multiple courses each year. While the degree focuses on the molecular sciences, its content is suitable for any student pursuing software engineering or data science roles in other science-based industries, or in other areas that require advanced machine learning, complex mathematical modeling and simulations, or high-performance computing.



General Duties:

Classroom teaching and preparation, managing and mentoring graders and/or graduate student instructors (teaching assistants), holding office hours, assigning grades, advising students, preparing course materials (e.g., syllabus), and using Cal's electronic resources for course management.



The MSSE Program seeks candidates who can support the success of all students through inclusive curriculum, classroom environment, and pedagogy.

The Fung Fellowship at the University of California, Berkeley invites applications for a pool of part-time lecturer positions in Design and Technology Innovation should an opening arise. We seek candidates that have experience to teach a 3-unit fall and/or spring course for undergraduates who have been selected for the Fung Fellowship for Technology Innovations, a one-year program that develops leadership, teaming, storytelling, technology innovation, and human centered design. ·        Compliance Coordination: Partner with leadership to coordinate institutional compliance programs for IBC, Radiation Safety, IACUC, and IRB.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Qualifications

·        Experience with scientific review and research laboratory operations, including wet laboratories and animal care facilities.

Under the direction of division leadership, and with latitude for independent initiative and decision-making, the Director of Data Operations and Program Analytics will lead the Division's efforts to manage data, reporting, and performance analytics. This role will be responsible for developing tools, spreadsheets, and systems to track progress, as well as producing reports, presentations, and insights that drive decision-making and strengthen community impact. Some specific duties of the Director for Data Operations and Program Analytics will include:

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize spreadsheets, databases, and tracking tools to support program management and performance monitoring.
