Job Summary
The HR Operations Specialist is the first point of contact for employee and manager HR requests through QXO’s HR Service Center. This role delivers Tier 1 case based support across the employee lifecycle by resolving standard inquiries, completing defined HR transactions, and guiding leaders and employees to the right processes, tools, and policies. Key Responsibilities
Tier 1 Intake, Case Management, and Customer Support
- Serve as the primary Tier 1 contact for HR support through the HR case management system and approved channels (portal, phone, email, and messaging as applicable)
- Resolve standard requests related to HR policies, benefits navigation, leave intake and routing, pay, timekeeping, and employee data

- Contribute to and maintain knowledge articles, templates, and standard responses to reduce repeat contacts and improve self service
- Tag cases accurately and surface trends, contact drivers, and opportunities for automation, workflow improvements, and policy clarification

At Lookout Local, we’ve figured out a bunch of things well – real and early-on community engagement, multi-stream revenue, local advertising and bedrock breaking news-to-accountability through the day local journalism. And we appreciate the national recognition of our work from our Pulitzer to our fast-ramp launch and model-building in Oregon. But that’s just a beginning in Santa Cruz and in Eugene-Springfield, and as we plot next communities to serve.
For this position, we’re seeking a spirited, top editor/news product innovator ready to work with great colleagues to take Lookout Santa Cruz specifically and Lookouts overall to next levels of journalism, community service and revenue generation. We understand the fast-evolving connections in that holy trinity, and believe that harnessing the latest tech/thinking (including mastering local AI application, on which we’ve laid a great foundation already) is fundamental to our future. At this point, we focus on three key types of products: site, app and newsletter, and this leader, working with both our senior team and newsroom will build on those — and what’s to come.
At our two Lookouts, now approaching 40 strong people in number, we pride ourselves on being both fiercely mission-driven and fiercely business-driven, and know that only those local news organizations (like our friends and cohorts in the Knight Growth Challenge Fund, with Texas Tribune now the eighth member after we joined as the seventh) will prosper in the now-faster changing ways all of us find and consume news. Ideally, we’d like the candidate to be located and (relocatable) to the Bay Area, if not Santa Cruz itself, able to join us in person at least a couple of days a week. 3) Serving as a prominent public face, with publisher-like interaction, in the wider Santa Cruz County community and nationally. Become a familiar face in civic and business circles, a company presence that augments what our correspondents, ad salespeople and community engagement people do. Include creating useful community partnerships, talks to civic groups, moderation of events, 1:1 lunches with elected, business and non-profit leaders. Works with the managing editor and community and student engagement manager on a scheduled, steady, and strategic, stream of Lookout Listens and issue-oriented forums. Nationally, becomes another key spokesperson for Lookout’s success and expansion strategy.
4) Leads, with managing editor, next plans for development and training in the newsroom, creating a development program for journalists, individually, and collectively, setting up a steady cadence of learning/training programs. The executive editor role requires a demonstrated, collegial leader, with substantial newsroom management, well-tested digital and audience experience, and one who excels in building further on both a set of products and a culture of excellence and collaboration. Working with the managing editor, who will direct the newsroom day to day, the ideal candidate both values Lookout’s early success and offers a vision of its next steps, steps that are both mission- and business-building. Customer Service Support Supervisor
The Customer Support Service Supervisor is responsible for the independent oversight of all dispatch operations within their assigned service team, territory, or region. Acting as the primary point of contact within the Service Coordination group, the Supervisor ensures seamless communication among customers, technicians, and management, while delivering timely and efficient customer service. This role serves as both a subject matter expert in Customer Support Services Team (CSST) processes and a trainer/mentor for Service Coordinators and administrative staff. With minimal direct oversight, the Supervisor exercises sound judgment and decision-making authority to resolve issues, enhance processes, and ensure adherence to service and company standards.
Principal Duties and Accountabilities:
Supervision & Leadership
- Serve as the direct line of support for Service Coordinators/Administrative Assistants within the region.
- Monitor, train, and mentor Service Coordinators, ensuring clear understanding of processes, compliance, and performance expectations.
- Conduct quarterly performance reviews and routine one-on-ones with assigned team members.
- Support Operations Manager in maintaining appropriate staffing levels by communicating manpower needs.
- Participate in performance management, coaching, and the evaluation process for service staff.
- Collaborate with the Director of the Customer Service Support Team on team compensation, benefits, and feedback initiatives.
- Utilize software platforms to review team and operational reports, track goal achievement, and identify opportunities for process and performance improvements.
- Ensure accurate and compliant execution of customer portal management activities performed by the Senior Service Coordinator, providing oversight and guidance as needed. Serving as backup
- Seek approval from management before enforcing exceptions to CSST policies or taking disciplinary action.
Dispatch Operations
- Manage all aspects of dispatch operations, including scheduling, prioritization, and technician assignments.
- Maintain the service work order process—ensuring accurate client/job creation, scheduling, and tracking in the Dispatch Board.
- Monitor ongoing service work assignments and technician locations through active communication.
- Receive and process incoming customer service requests; make rapid decisions to route calls appropriately.
- Act as point of escalation for complex service issues or customer concerns.
- Utilize data and analytics to identify service trends and efficiency opportunities.
- Manage weekly payroll and timekeeping for assigned technicians, acting as back up to the Service Coordinators as needed.
- Provide backup support to Service Coordinators as needed.
Job Management
- Establish new work orders in the accounting system for both new and existing customers.
- Partner with Project Managers, Account Managers, and Technicians to ensure timely work order completion and billing accuracy.
- Ensure proper documentation and accuracy in all service-related information.
Sales Collaboration
- Partner with the Sales department by providing insights into service capabilities, scheduling considerations, and resource requirements to support customer proposals and service agreements.
- Attend site walks for new service agreements; meet directly with customers to gather and verify accurate billing information, site details, and key contact information.
- Collaborate with Sales to ensure smooth handoffs from the pre-sales process to active service delivery, helping establish realistic customer expectations and seamless onboarding.
Process Improvement & Development
- Regularly evaluate customer support and operations processes; recommend enhancement opportunities to the department director.
- Stay current with industry best practices, service software applications, and workflow optimization strategies.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- General courses in accounting preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 4 years’ experience in a customer service-related role with exposure to operations or accounting administration.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Service Coordinator or Dispatcher.
- Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, equipment, and terminology required.
- In-depth understanding of dispatch center operations, scheduling, and resource allocation.
- Proficiency with service software systems and Microsoft Office Suite; knowledge of Access and accounting platforms preferred

Benefits and Compensation:
- The range for this position has been established at $72,000 to $101,000 per year and is U.S. Engineering - Service's good faith and reasonable estimate at the time of the posting. The compensation offered to the finalist selected for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. Compensation for this role includes a base salary complemented by commission opportunities based on the Account Manager’s individual sales performance and attainment of sales targets

Sheet Metal Fabrication Workflow Specialist
Starting Hourly: $25/hr (based on experience)
The CAMduct Processor is responsible for converting ductwork designs and online duct orders into accurate, fabrication-ready jobs using Autodesk Fabrication CAMduct. This role processes work from Revit fabrication models and WebDuct/ecommerce systems, applies Comfort Systems USA Southeast fabrication standards, and prepares jobs for production equipment including plasma, coil line, and forming. It also includes reviewing shop drawings to ensure accuracy prior to fabrication.
This is an advanced-level role requiring independent processing, sound decision-making, and proactive problem resolution. The ideal candidate must be very thorough when working on the shop floor and must know how to accurately draw fittings.

Key Responsibilities
