POSITION SUMMARY

To provide high quality imaging MRI procedures to our patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while providing those services in a safe and clean environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Formal Education / Training:
Graduate of an ARRT approved program, accredited through The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, and be registered or working toward certification in the subspecialty of MRI; or hold current ARMRIT certification.
Must be in compliance with CE Requirements.
BLS is required within 90 days of hire.

Workplace Experience:
Preference of at least one year of work experience in hospital environment working in MRI after graduation and accreditation; however, willing to train.

Equipment and Skills Training:
General computer knowledge as well as a keen mind for safety

Physical Environment:
Large field strength magnet with a special focus on patient safety and universal precautions practiced in a multimodality imaging department

Physical Effort:
Possesses the ability to perform multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and stretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds; communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate judgment decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families, and physicians. Must be willing to take call on weekends and at other times as deemed necessary.

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
  1. Checks patient identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request before proceeding with study.
  2. Questions all patients regarding medical history to include any surgeries which might include implants or Pacemakers and communicates with patient to ensure patient understands study and is as comfortable as possible.
  3. Provides safe environment for patients. Follows safety procedure at all times and will stop procedure immediately if patient becomes claustrophobic, if any part of body becomes warm, or if patient simply wishes to terminate procedure.
  4. Communicates regularly DURING MRI procedure to provide the patient with a more pleasant experience.
  5. Communicates potential or existing problems/opportunities to improve quality of care or services.
  6. Strives to maintain the dignity of each patient by ensuring the patient is properly covered at all times; during exam and patient transport.
  7. Seeks opportunities to assist in other areas during downtime, short staff, or high census periods. Always makes good use of time.
  8. Shows leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes appropriate decisions.
  9. Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when needed. Completes scans ordered or scheduled during their shift.
  10. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to table and watching patient while on table.

  • Ability to perform breast related procedures including US, MRI and mammographic guided biopsies and wire/SAVI localizations

  • Reading screens and performing diagnostic exams

  • Work independently if Sonographer is not available

  • Involvement in monthly tumor boards

  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary group including Surgeons, Oncologists and Pathologists

  • Access to ancillary services including Hologic 3D mammography, Affirm Bx system, DEXA, Ultrasound, CT, MRI, Diagnostic, Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) focuses on the delivery of patient care and facilitates the needs of the physician. Focuses purely on the patient in front of them and ensures the patient knows and feels that they are the most important person in that moment. Creates an environment where our patients know they are a priority and provides spectacular service by doing what is necessary to take care of the patient. Performs administrative tasks such as answering phones, data entry, patient check in/out, and assists in scheduling patient appointments. Enters charges, verifies patients' insurance coverage, receives payments from patients, and issues receipts. Supports company initiatives by adopting new approaches, practices, and processes to deliver unmistakable quality, spectacular service, and operational excellence on a consistent basis.

Essential Functions

1. Answers inbound calls to the Center.

2. Provides a friendly and warm greeting to all patients and/or providers.

3. Checks scheduled patients in/out and ensures proper documentation is received from patient.

4. Collects co-pays, co-insurance, and deductible if necessary.

5. Listens and resolves patient, provider, and any customer complaints. Communicates to PSR Lead and/or Area Manager as needed.

6. Ensures accurate data entry for patient registration.

7. Assists with medical records as needed.

8. Ensures all queues are processed in a timely and efficient manner while adhering to all process & compliance requirements.

9. Manages eRIS Center workflow, including daily schedule, billing complete, priors grid, delinquent exams, waitlist, report delivery queues, and collection of TOS.

10. Stays abreast of known carrier related issues and is able to identify carrier specific concerns, (i.e. out of network, specific plan limitations, etc.)

11. Monitors schedule and ensures all data, attachments, history, etc. have been done before exam is completed.

12. Facilitates no-show appointments (calling patients, cancelling, rescheduling).

13. Reschedules and cancels appointments as needed/directed (receives incoming/outgoing calls to patients).

14. Monitors waiting room to avoid extended wait time and to assists patients as needed.

15. Requests orders and processes new/same-day requests.

16. Requests all patients complete a satisfaction survey after their exam.

17. Other duties as assigned.

Work Environment

This job operates in an outpatient clinical environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
