Under the direction of the Production Supervisor or Group Leader, the Blaster will perform tasks as necessary in the fabrication and maintenance of Calgon Carbon Corporation products and equipment. The worker will perform all assigned duties in compliance with all company and safety policies and procedures.   

Duties and Responsibilities (not limited to)

  • Abrasive blasts interior and exterior of tanks and piping systems to achieve the specified SSPC surface cleanliness and surface profile
  • Assists sprayers as required
  • Inspects interior and exterior lining and coating systems on purchased and produced equipment
  • Coatings include but are not limited to:Plasite4110, 4006,Ceilcote242, epoxy, polyurethane-based coatings
  • Prepares equipment for painting and coating by cleaning, solvent wiping, taping and papering prior to painting
  • Mixes paint and linings in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions
  • Visually inspects own work for defects and noncompliance to specifications and makes necessary repairs
  • Inspections will include both surface preparation and finished coatings
  • Surface preparation verification in accordance with SSPC for cleanliness and surface profile
  • Coating inspection will include dry film thickness gage use, holiday or spark testing
  • Complete inspection result documentation.
  • Ambient condition monitoring and reporting
  • Wet bulb and dry bulb temperature, relative humidity and surface temperature to ensure application requirement compliance
  • Operate fork trucks and overhead cranes while moving equipment in and out of paint booth 
  • Assist in other areas with various tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work a 3 shift rotation
  • Less than high school education is required  
  • 0-2 years general labor experience is required

  • Determine proper sealing compounds, sequence of work, and method of application to accomplish assignments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Undertakes and performs the following and all other work-related duties as assigned.

1. Coordinates, manages, and schedules HQS inspections as assigned.

2. Conducts inspections of housing units prior to occupancy and lease approval (initial inspections); annual inspections, and special/compliant inspections and re-inspections to determine compliance with Housing Authority policy and procedures, and the Code of Federal Regulations that govern the HCV Program.

3. Performs, documents, records, and uploads into appropriate system initial, interim, move-out, special, or recertification inspections of units for compliance with HQS and City Code. Advises owners/landlords and program participants of inspection results, ensures required repairs are completed, and encourages proper maintenance of units. Prepares all inspection-related correspondence, documents, and reports in a timely and accurate manner.

4. Identify the need of any repair(s) and/or HQS deficiencies and clearly indicates the nature of the problem(s)/deficiencies on a standardized inspection form or electronic tablet.

5. Presents HQS information at applicant, tenant, and moving briefings.

6.  Enforce Lead-Based Paint Regulations (e.g. to make visual assessment for deteriorated paint violations during initial, annual, and special/complaint inspections; assuring clearance examinations have been achieved when required; meeting requirements for children under age six).

7. Determine unit type, bedroom size and utility services for inspections performed.

8. Properly informs participants, property owners/managers of inspection result and clearly relays any deficiencies found for corrective action in a timely manner.

9. Assists with landlord meetings to attract new and maintain current landlords. Ensures the program is landlord-friendly without sacrificing duty to participants and to HUD.

10. Makes home visits as scheduled or as required.

11. Photographs all housekeeping inspections to document conditions at time of inspection.

12. Reports to the Inspections Supervisor all violations that occur that may be life threatening and/or not in compliance with preset standards.

13. Informs the Inspections Supervisor of situations and/or conditions of participants’ non-compliance with housing assistance contract and Housing Authority policies.

14. Notifies owners and program participants in writing of unit code/HQS violations so that deficiencies can be corrected within specified time; notifies participants of trash or debris that needs their attention; and notifies participants when employees or contractors will need access to their units.

15. Recommends code-compliant solutions for rehabilitation/repair problems.

16. Assists in mediating disputes between landlords and participants.

17. Recommends abatement, detainment, and termination of HCV Program housing assistance payment contracts and supports the Inspections Supervisor in the preparation of termination of assistance. Sends letter of abatement notice to owner/tenant within specified time period.

18. Performs, documents, and logs participant-complaints. 

19. Advises parties of results and ensures actions are taken to comply with HQS.

20. Assists in mediation between contractor and client to resolve differences of opinion and provides building code interpretations and applications as required.

21. Completes and maintains various forms, documents, and reports in an accurate and timely manner. Handles documents on a variety of general, personal, and technical topics of a highly confidential nature and maintains the confidentiality of all documents and information received by or in the possession of the employee.  

22. Participates in job and certification training; attends continuing education classes for certifications and to stay abreast of current codes, regulations, and laws governing area of responsibility.

23. May greet the general public and explains the HQS/HUD rules and regulations.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

The HCV Inspector receives assignments and instructions from the Inspections Supervisor. Work to be done is usually determined by existing procedures or may be specified by the supervisor. The employee performs routine tasks with minimal or no supervision and must have excellent problem-solving abilities. Unusual situations not covered by instructions or procedures are referred to the supervisor for resolution. The employee's finished work is reviewed regularly for thoroughness, accuracy, completeness, and compliance with inspection requirements through housing quality control inspection samplings and periodic rental market samplings. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Skills & Detailing Experience

Applicants must have at least 1 year of hands-on auto detailing experience in a professional setting such as a detailing shop, dealership, rental car company, car wash, or mobile detailing service.

The primary services performed in this role include interior cleaning and exterior wash/detail maintenance services, so experience in these areas is essential.

Interior Detailing Skills (Primary Focus)

Detailers must be comfortable performing complete interior cleaning and restoration, including:

  • Thorough interior vacuuming including seats, carpets, floor mats, and trunk areas
  • Cleaning dashboards, door panels, center consoles, vents, and trim
  • Carpet and upholstery shampooing or extraction
  • Removal of stains, dirt, and embedded debris from fabric surfaces
  • Cleaning and conditioning leather seats and leather trim
  • Cleaning cup holders, cracks, crevices, and hard-to-reach interior areas
  • Interior glass cleaning without streaking
  • Eliminating odors and restoring a clean interior environment

Detailers must be able to bring heavily used interiors back to a clean, customer-ready condition.

Exterior Wash & Finish Skills

This position focuses on safe washing and basic exterior enhancement, including:

  • Safe hand washing techniques using pressure washers or hose systems
  • Proper use of foam cannons or pre-soak systems
  • Cleaning wheels, tires, and wheel wells
  • Removing bugs, dirt, and road film
  • Proper drying techniques using microfiber towels or air blowers to avoid scratching paint
  • Application of spray wax or quick paint sealant to enhance shine and protection
  • Cleaning exterior glass, mirrors, and trim

This role focuses on maintenance-level exterior detailing, not heavy paint correction or polishing.

Equipment & Tool Experience

Detailers should already have experience working with tools commonly used in professional detailing, such as:

  • Pressure washers
  • Foam cannons or foam sprayers
  • Wet/dry vacuums
  • Carpet extractors or shampoo machines
  • Steam cleaners (optional but helpful)
  • Microfiber towel systems and detailing brushes

All equipment and supplies will be provided.

Supervision of Assembly Operations: Lead and manage the assembly team, ensuring that all injection molded parts are properly assembled,

inspected, and ready for painting or coating. Ensure that assembly operations run smoothly, efficiently, and in compliance with established production schedules.

Quality Control & Standards: Maintain and enforce strict quality control processes throughout the assembly line. Ensure all parts meet Toyoda Gosei’s and customer specifications before advancing to painting/coating stages. Address and resolve any quality concerns promptly,

in collaboration with the quality assurance team.

Workplace Safety: Prioritize and enforce a culture of safety within the assembly area. Ensure that safety standards, procedures, and regulations are followed by all team members at all times, and that assembly-related work areas are properly maintained to prevent accidents and injuries.

Continuous Improvement: Foster an environment of continuous improvement within the assembly department. Collaborate with other teams to identify areas for efficiency improvements, waste reduction, and process optimization.

Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and other initiatives to enhance the performance of the assembly line.

Training & Development: Oversee the training and development of assembly team members, ensuring they are well-versed in product specifications, assembly processes, safety practices, and quality standards. Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and skill growth.

Collaboration with Other Departments: Work closely with production planning, engineering, quality control, and logistics teams to ensure seamless transitions between the assembly, painting/coating, and shipment processes. Coordinate with the shipping department to ensure timely and accurate delivery of completed parts to customers.

Performance Metrics: Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to assembly throughput, quality rates, downtime, and other relevant metrics. Take proactive measures to meet or exceed production targets and maintain a high level of operational efficiency.
