Radiology Technologists perform a variety of imaging procedures, including X-ray, Fluoroscopy, CT, and Surgery and are responsible for patient safety protocols. Our Radiology Techs function as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their imaging needs.
Responsibilities
- Promotes a professional image by adhering to the established dress code.
- Maximizes job potential by attending all mandatory education and in-service programs.
- Contributes to the time management of the department by being punctual to work and on assignments according to the hospital and department standards.
- Responsible for complying with all hospital confidentiality and HIPAA requirements relating to department and hospital medical records and patient condition.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely maintenance of Medical Imaging patient medical records, includes Radiology, Vascular and Echo Lab.
- Responsible for the filing and distribution of Radiology reports according to department protocol in the absence of office personnel.
- Responsible for performing office related duties in the absence of office staff.
Technical Operations Responsibilities and Standards:
- Identify each patient and review each patient’s requisition, either hard copy or in computer systems, for consistency of examination ordered with clinical diagnosis and all demographic information.
- Records pertinent data on radiologic requisition at all times. (Physician’s name, technologist’s name, date, explanation for limited examination, etc.)
- Assesses patient condition, ensures patient safety through proper use of restraint/support devices.
- Reviews each examination for technical accuracy, presents the completed examination to the appropriate technical staff member, and communicates pertinent data to persons responsible for the care of the patient following the procedure.
- Identifies anatomical orientation on all required images and ensures proper film identification on all images.
- Use the computer system in documenting correctly and accurately patient information to ensure the quality of patient care according to established department protocol.
- Perform all necessary computer operations to ensure proper examination documentation and charges.
- Organize patient care and set priorities by providing critical care first and by implementing the physician’s orders.
- Participate in the training and orientation of new employees.
- Ensure patient safety, comfort, and care through proper observation of established safety rules and regulations.
- Graduation from an accredited/approved school of radiology
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Valid Illinois Radiology license
- CPR/AED and CT certifications are welcomed but not required
Physical Demands
- Ability to stand or walk for extended periods and move between tasks.
- Ability to hear and converse on the phone and in person.

With Little or No Supervision and Direction:
- Is knowledgeable of materials and material locations.
- Assist in maintaining inventory on consumables.
- Safely locates, identifies, and pulls material indicated on work orders using appropriate material handling equipment, such as forklifts, side loader, and scissor lifts.
- Verifies the size of materials and products with the use of calipers, a micrometer, tape measures, and the established color-coding system.
- Verifies that pulled material meets or exceeds Company quality standards.
- Follow all established Company safety rules.
- Creates and models a culture of “safety first”, trains others, and ensures that all associates who work or enter the warehouse follow Company safety rules.
- Documents all materials pulled using the IMS process.
- Comprehends and utilizes the proper tagging process.
- Understands the use of “Heat” and “Lot” numbers and properly identifying and handling related materials

- Processes material returns and receives all inbound material from third party delivery services, such as UPS, FedEx, and Freightliner.
