Job Summary

The School of Psychology ( /) at the Georgia Institute of Technology ( ) invites nominations and applications for 4 open-rank tenure-track faculty positions with an anticipated start date of August 2024. Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate and develop an exceptional research program. We are particularly interested in candidates whose scholarship focuses on Applied Behavioral Sciences, including but not limited to Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Quantitative Psychology,HumanFactors/EngineeringPsychology,andAdultDevelopmentandAging. Ideal candidates will place a strong emphasis on the use of quantitative and computational methodologiesinthedevelopmentofuse-inspiredtheoryandresearchtoaddressmodern workplace and/or societal challenges. We are particularly interested in candidates who can build bridges within the School, across the Institute, and beyond. This includes fostering collaborative interactions with other School members and contributing to bridge-building with other academic and research units at Tech and with government and industry.



Required Qualifications

A Ph.D. in Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Applied Quantitative Methods or related STEM field is required at the time of appointment. Candidates should have a strong record of academic accomplishments commensurate with their current academic rank and an externally funded research program or show potential to establish one. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and mentorship and will be expected to contribute to the undergraduate and graduate instructional missions of the School.

Job Summary

The Wallace H. Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology & Emory University invites applications from exceptional senior candidates working in the area of Neuroengineering, broadly defined. The successful candidate will be named the Georgia Research Alliance (GRA) Eminent Scholar in Neuroengineering, an endowed position specific to the Georgia Tech campus. GRA eminent scholars are expected to engage in or contribute to translational and/or economic development efforts in their field. Applicants should have earned a Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Appointment is expected at the rank of full professor with tenure.

The department seeks a visionary scholar-educator and proven leader in high impact and emerging areas of importance to human health and biomedicine. We are specifically interested in the areas of neuroengineering and neuroscience, particularly developing and using approaches in machine learning and AI, with neurotranslational potential. Along with excellent scholarship, candidates are expected to have demonstrated strong leadership in building and leading extramurally funded research programs, noteworthy dedication to innovative teaching and mentoring of diverse undergraduate and graduate student bodies, as well as national and international recognition. Of particular interest are candidates with an established and active record of accomplishment in leading large multi-institution and multi-disciplinary collaborative research efforts and a vision for developing the next generation of neuroengineering tools to facilitate emerging areas such as interactive neurotechnologies, brain computer interfaces, neuroAI, neural control of sensing and moving, the neural bases of decision making and cognitive function, and the neuroscience of neurological or psychiatric disorders.

The successful candidate will interact with a vibrant and rapidly growing multi-disciplinary community across Georgia Tech, Emory, and greater Atlanta. Examples include: the Georgia Tech/Emory Neural Engineering Center; the newly-formed GT Institute for Neuroscience, Neurotechnology, and Society (INNS), crosscutting multiple Colleges; the McCamish Parkinson's Disease Innovation Program; researchers and educators spanning various basic science and engineering departments across Emory and Georgia Tech, as well as clinical departments such as the Emory Department of Rehabilitation, Division of Physical Therapy, Neurology, Neurosurgery, and the Emory Brain Health Center.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Psychology from an APA accredited graduate school required.

Experience: Two years clinical experience which may include the year of internship required. The second year must be post-graduate and include supervision by a licensed Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist.

Licensure, certification, and/or registration: Licensed by Virginia by the Board of Medicine as a clinical psychologist or by the Board of Psychology as a Psychologist (Clinical), or in West Virginia by the Board of Examiners of Psychologists required. Must have de-escalation training successfully completed within four months of hire and then maintained annually going forward when working in the inpatient environment.

/n• 2 years ICU experience required in large (450+ bed) facility
/n• Level 1 trauma experience required
/n• EVD (External Ventricular Drain) experience required
/n• Will consider 18 months of experience if coming from a Neuro ICU unit
/n• First time travelers accepted
/n• Patient ratio of 1:2 in ICU, 4:1 when floating to telemetry units
/n• Required to float between all ICU floors and all telemetry units
/n• Must have strong neuro assessment skills and ICP monitoring experience
/n• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS
/n• Must pass DYS exam prior to accepting position (2 attempts allowed)
/n• Pass/fail exam on day 1 of orientation
/n• Complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes
/n• 2 shifts floor-specific orientation
/n• Must have own vehicle for travel
/n• Dress code: Any color or print scrubs (non-offensive), steel grey for neuro floors
/n• Natural hair color required, no facial piercings, men must be clean shaven for fit test
