A growing U.S.-based custom commercial foodservice equipment manufacturer is seeking a 2nd Shift Production Manager to lead evening operations at its Garland, TX facility. This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing stainless steel fabrication and final assembly in a fast-paced, build-to-order environment. The Production Manager will oversee shop floor operations across sheet metal fabrication, welding, polishing, refrigeration, electrical, and final assembly. This leader will drive safety, quality, on-time delivery, and continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining strong communication across shifts and departments. This position reports directly to the Director of Manufacturing, who oversees day shift operations. Strong cross-shift alignment and communication will be critical to success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform other duties as directed by Maintenance Supervisor or other member of the plant leadership team.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance as needed on all Mill equipment including panel saw and CNC router
  • Troubleshoots and repairs of electric lift equipment, conveyor systems, as well as technical, mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic issues were needed. Understands and troubleshoots conveyor operating system logic
  • Performs preventative maintenance as well as necessary modifications on electric lift equipment, conveyor systems and buildings.
  • Provides equipment status report, including details of unusual maintenance problems.
  • Follows all safety guidelines established by manufacturer, Home Depot, or government agencies. Adherence to all safety codes and OSHA standards
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment, performing daily cleanup of work areas

QUALIFICATIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Create, review, and release documents according to Gilero’s QMS and the lifecycle of the project and develop test methods and protocols to fulfill state of the art requirements
  • Keep project managers informed on technical projects variables and status
  • Prepare documentation to support design history files and regulatory submissions
  • Analyze test data, interpret results, formulate conclusions, and apply statistical techniques (t-test, ANOVA, UCL/LCL, Tolerance Intervals)
  • Draft Risk documentation through understanding of Risk, Risk analysis, & Risk Burn Down
  • Support delivery of project objectives and milestones
  • Participate in testing campaigns, test flows, sample size analysis, and justification, based on sound judgment, Risk analysis, and QMS requirements
  • Support product and process risk assessments, including hazard analysis, FMEAs and residual risk analysis in conjunction with Quality Engineering
  • Write and execute protocols for design verification and validation
  • Support test method development and validation
  • Oversee and perform testing and inspection of prototypes and pre-production products including assisting assembly for DV&V builds and clinical builds
  • Support investigation of device failures, coordinate resources, determine root cause, identify corrective actions, and document in conjunction with Quality Engineering
  • Investigate, evaluate, and research competitive devices and product materials/designs


Skills/Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • 1+ years relevant working experience in product development, 2+ preferred. Medical device or combination product experience preferred
  • Skilled at transforming technical situations into well-defined project deliverables
  • Understanding of good GDP
  • Understanding of the Phase Gate System
  • Exposure and understanding of ISO 14971, 13485 and CFR 21 Knowledge base
  • Ability to translate User Needs/Requirements into measurable technical/product requirements and set appropriate specification though thought experiments and empirical testing
  • Ability to support and document appropriate scenarios for rationale-based decisions versus testing-based approaches
  • Ability to author scientific/logic-based rationale

You will serve as the critical bridge between Engineering and Production, helping bring complex medical products from design into robust, compliant manufacturing environments.

Key Responsibilities

Process Development and Regulatory Documentation

  • Develop and maintain manufacturing routers, work instructions, and standard operating procedures that support controlled production environments.
  • Create and manage process flow diagrams and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analyses to proactively mitigate risk.
  • Lead and support equipment and process validations including Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification, and Performance Qualification.
  • Oversee First Article Inspection activities and ensure complete traceability and documentation accuracy.
  • Partner with Quality to establish and maintain Production Part Approval Process documentation.
  • Evaluate and improve tooling and fixtures, designing new solutions using CAD tools such as SolidWorks when needed.

Quality Systems and Compliance

  • Design and implement incoming inspection protocols for raw materials and components.
  • Investigate nonconforming material trends, lead root cause analysis efforts, and define effective rework strategies.
  • Contribute to CAPA efforts and assist in maintaining compliance for internal and external audit processes.
  • Conduct and analyze Statistical Process Control studies to monitor process stability and drive measurable improvements.

Production Support and Continuous Improvement

  • Train production personnel on new procedures, documentation updates, and equipment changes.
  • Provide technical troubleshooting support to resolve manufacturing challenges and improve capability.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to reduce waste, improve yield, and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Drive initiatives that strengthen process robustness and long-term regulatory compliance.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in an FDA-regulated manufacturing environment, medical device experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise with ISO 13485 quality systems.
  • Hands-on experience leading or supporting IQ, OQ, PQ validations.
  • Working knowledge of PFMEA, FAI, PPAP, SPC, and CAPA processes.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and ERP systems.
  • Strong documentation ownership and technical writing skills.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with statistical analysis tools such as Minitab.
  • Background supporting internal or external ISO or FDA audits.
  • Experience balancing documentation-heavy responsibilities with hands-on production floor engagement.
