The Sonographer performs sonography procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail and performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment with ingenuity to apply prescribed sonography for diagnosis.  The Sonographer assumes responsibility for designated areas of procedures and may have individual responsibility for specified sonography procedures and/or may be assigned as an instructor.

• Verifies physician’s orders in patient’s chart, prescription and on schedule
• Explains the test to the patient.  Instructs and assists the patient in assuming the physical position for examination
• Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure
• Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
• Selects a transducer and adjusts the equipment controls according to the organ to be examined, the depth of field and other specifications of test
• Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results
• Performs all quality control checks, as prescribed
• Schedules patients to provide orderly flow of procedures through department
• Perform other duties as required.
   

REQUIRED:

• High School degree

PREFERRED:

• 2-3 years relevant job experience in a Healthcare setting under a Board Certified Radiologist

REQUIRED:

• American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) certification
• BCLS certification

Under the general direction of the Pharmacy Manager or designee, will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. He or she may advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medications. 

• Compounds and dispenses medications and other pharmaceutical supplies, reviews orders and prescriptions for appropriateness and patient safety
• Ensures that medication profiles are accurate and up to date
• Checks for drug interactions, incompatibilities and optimum drug therapy
• Participates in narcotic and controlled drug distribution programs as required
• Audits medication records and makes necessary corrections 
• Explains proper use of all prescriptions for outpatients.
• Accountable for investigational drug study integrity
• Ensures that non-sterile, sterile, and hazardous medications are prepared in accordance with USP 795, 797, and 800 regulation
• Supplies drug information to physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team
• Participates in the department's in-service education program.

Under the supervision of the Respiratory Care Services Medical Director and Clinical Coordinator, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for providing respiratory care services in accordance with specific physician’s orders, department policies and procedures.

• Complete physician prescribed respiratory care modalities while demonstrating a conscientious approach in their administration to the patient
• Verify correct and appropriate orders and takes action to clarify any discrepancies. Consistently responds to outcome of therapy and pursues any necessary changes to provide the most accurate drug dosage delivery device
• Gather appropriate information for a basis for evaluation, recommendations and treatments
• Document all relative information of patient assessments/treatments/education, on the appropriate form in a legible and complete manner. 
• Thoroughly instruct patients and uses patient handouts when appropriate
• Assure respiratory equipment is set up correctly and operating properly.  Alerts lead tech or supervisor of any discrepancies or questions.  Follows up on lost or broken equipment with appropriate explanation.
• Demonstrate the ability to interpret ABG values and communicates values to physicians making suggestions for improvement.
• Perform other duties as required.

REQUIRED:            

• Graduate of an AMAapproved school of respiratory care and/or certified or registered by the NBRC

PREFERRED:

• 3-5 years experience in hospital setting

REQUIRED:

• Current NYS respiratory therapist or technician license
