Job Description Responsibilities: Lead personnel and activities to investigate, correct, and prevent quality Field Safety Events (FSE) and potential Field Safety Events (pFSE) including root cause investigation, design, manufacturing and quality systems improvements.
Develop, maintain, and improve process and procedures for in-depth investigations related to FSE and pFSE.
Analyze highly technical and complex manufacturing, design, process, and user data to determine the root cause, scope, depth and of critical (high risk and high financial impact) Global Field failure events FSE and pFSE.
Author and manage investigation/corrective action communication with regulatory authorities and applicable notified bodies for Field Safety Events.
Act as SME Host during regulatory inspections and Notified body/ Registrar Quality Systems audits associated with the review of Field Safety Events.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, SMEs and business partners to compile strategic plans for the investigation, containment, and align correction efforts with effective divisional strategies relative to quality Field Safety Events.
Oversee critical quality Field Safety Event
- CAPAs and projects.
Identify, lead and drive opportunities to improve quality systems and develop long-term strategies to prevent the reoccurrence of Field Safety Events globally on the product as well as similar products/processes.
Review and determine the application of various global product jurisdictions to ensure compliance relative to Field Safety Events regulations.
Oversee the improvement/corrective/preventive activities to DMRs, DHF/Tech Files, Master Batch Records, Validations, and change control to ensure risk based enhancement and maintenance of robust controls and documentation associate with Field Safety Events.
Develop, assess, and define key quality metrics/indicators to track performance, effectiveness, and compliance assoicated with Field Safety Events.
Ensure risk management strategies are appropriate, incorporated, and updated relative to Field Safety Events to meet regulatory expectations and mitigate future risks.
Train and coach personnel to deliver optimal results based on the department’s goals.
This is a high-level individual contributor role management responsibilities limited to leading day-to-day activities and outcomes of a group of employees.
May be involved in hiring staff, recommending pay increases, performing performance reviews, training and development of staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline.
Work Experience At least 10 years of experience with Medical Device
- Pharma Quality Management Systems, manufacturing, design, validation, supplier controls, clinical/patient risk assessments, and Field Safety Events regulations.
At least 5 years of experience with high-risk, high complexity, high financial, critical failure investigation/CAPA activities.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Knowledge of Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Quality System Regulations (QSR) and International Organization of Standardization (ISO).
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Position requires travel up to 20% of the time for business purposes (global).
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Medical Device and Pharma, multiple product types, and regulatory jurisdictions.
Experience with Medical Device Design Controls, CE technical File Requirements, and 510K submissions.
Experience with SAP.
Experience with Contract Manufacturing.
Experience with ETQ Reliance.

Position Summary: The Director of Quality, Food Safety & Compliance is responsible for leading and continuously improving all aspects of quality assurance, quality control, food safety, regulatory compliance, sanitation, and workplace safety across Bobo’s manufacturing operations. This on-site leadership role serves as the enterprise owner of product integrity, consumer safety, employee safety, and regulatory risk. This role provides strategic direction and hands-on leadership to ensure all products are produced in a manner that is safe for both consumers and employees, and that they meet or exceed internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations, including SQF, FDA, HACCP, FSMA, OSHA, and other applicable programs. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with food manufacturing experience who can balance operational partnership with firm governance, ensuring quality, food safety, and workplace safety are fully embedded into how the business operates every day, not treated as separate or secondary priorities.
Essential Functions:
· Establish and execute the company’s quality, food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety strategy in alignment with business objectives.
· Lead, develop, and mentor both Safety & Quality managers to ensure accountability and a culture of continuous improvement.
· Serve as a key operational partner to Production, Supply Chain, R&D, and Logistics while maintaining independent authority over quality, food safety, and safety-related decisions.
· Act as the primary quality, food safety, and workplace safety advisor to the VP of Operations and Executive Leadership team.
· Own and ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory and certification requirements, including SQF, FDA, HACCP, FSMA, OSHA (as applicable), and customer-specific standards.
· Oversee the design, implementation, and effectiveness of quality systems across cleaning, baking, packaging, storage, and shipping operations, ensuring they support both food safety and employee safety.
· Ensure food safety, quality, and workplace safety risks are proactively identified, assessed, and mitigated through preventive controls and robust systems.
· Maintain clear decision rights related to product disposition, holds, releases, and recalls.
· Provide strategic oversight of sanitation programs, including management of third-party sanitation providers.
· Ensure sanitation programs support food safety, equipment reliability, employee safety, and audit readiness.
· Lead and champion workplace safety programs in close partnership with operations to reduce risk, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a strong, proactive safety culture.
· Drive a systems-based approach to quality, food safety, and safety management, reducing reliance on manual processes and institutional knowledge.
· Ensure key processes, procedures, and standard work are documented, trained, and consistently executed with a strong emphasis on safe execution.
· Lead root cause analysis and CAPA processes to address internal issues, customer complaints, safety incidents, and audit findings.
· Lead all internal, customer, and third-party audits, ensuring the organization is continuously audit-ready.
· Use data and KPIs to monitor performance, identify trends, and drive measurable improvements in quality, food safety, and workplace safety.
· Own corrective action responses and ensure timely, effective closure of findings.
· Prepare and present regular quality, food safety, and safety updates to executive leadership, highlighting risks, trends, and improvement initiatives.
· Maintain accurate, compliant documentation and records across all quality, food safety, and safety systems.
· Serve as the primary contact for quality, food safety, and compliance-related customer interactions.
· Build credibility and trust with customers, auditors, and regulatory agencies through transparency and strong program execution.
· Perform other duties as required
Supervisory Responsibility: This position will lead the Quality& Safety Departments with direct oversight of area managers
Qualifications / Education / Experience Desired:
· Bachelor’s degree in food science, Food Safety, Quality Management, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
· A minimum of 10 years of experience in quality assurance and food safety within the food manufacturing industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
· In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, including SQF, HACCP, FDA, and GFSI standards.
· Proven experience in a baking or similar food manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
· Must have senior management experience with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams
· Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and inspire large teams.
· Experience in leading workplace safety.
· Excellent problem-solving skills with a result-driven approach.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization.
· Experience with continuous improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma or Lean is a plus.
Supervision Given:
· This position will report to the VP of Operations
· The position holder is expected to be able to work with minimal oversight at times, able to confidently handle situations on their own
