Position Responsibilities:
Operate, install electrical systems and perform functional testing of building and plant equipment (e.g., machines, motor controls, room re-models)
Determine if system should be shut down or work must be performed with power source on
Lock out, tag out, try out equipment and related systems
Perform primary and secondary testing on electrical breakers during routine maintenance; replace, update and retro fit breakers
Perform routine tests on high voltage switches and relays, using hi-potential test equipment (Hipot), replace switch or relay
Troubleshoot electric motors using appropriate test equipment
Monitor current, voltage, amperage, frequency and watts hours at sub-stations using online computing system
Check and service electrical systems, using infrared analysis sheets to locate hot spots in service panel
Service and maintain electrical systems on various types of overhead cranes
Operate, install electrical systems and perform functional test of building and plant equipment (e.g., machines, motor controls, room re-models)
Install and perform routine maintenance on all types of lighting fixtures (e.g., fluorescent, halide, standard); clean and check sockets, and replace ballast and bulbs
Run high voltage electrical cable from sub-station to unit station; cut and splice cable, test cable for resistance
Install, replace and repair fiber optic cable for computers and computing systems
Bend conduit and install junction boxes; pull wire of various gauge and color through conduit using a fish tape; install and connect switches and outlets
Check work after completion or after each operation; ensure job is per drawing and WAC, NEC codes; evaluate job for work to be performed (e.g., wire size, electrical load, conduit)
Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. tiger lift, spider lift, snorkel lift), to access work areas
Install wire, crimp, terminate, and solder using tools (e.g., crimpers, wire cutters, soldering gun) in plant electrical systems
Establish/verify voltage, amperage, frequency and watts using test equipment (e.g., circuit trackers, sonic circuit chasers, volt, amperage meters)
Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:
Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as an Instrument & Control Technician/Sr. Instrument & Control Technician supporting our North Summit Station in Hopwood, PA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
This role installs maintains and troubleshoots instrumentation control circuits and equipment related to natural gas processes such as the compression, dehydration, measurement, transmission and storage of natural gas.
- Installation includes mounting wiring connecting testing configuring and programming instruments and devices.
- Maintenance includes routine calibration and functional testing of process instruments and devices documentation of calibration data collected during inspections utilizing the instrument inspection monitoring system verification of data communication systems that provide real time process and alarm information to the facility control center.
- Troubleshooting includes the utilization of equipment such as a laptop computer multi-meter instrument/device communicator device software documenting process calibrator etc.

Job Summary
The OSP Inspector – FTTH is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the quality and compliance of construction activities associated with Fiber to the Home (FTTH) projects. This role involves monitoring the deployment of fiber optic infrastructure, including aerial and underground installations, drop cable placement, and customer premise connections. The OSP Inspector works closely with contractors, engineers, and project managers to ensure that all work adheres to project specifications, safety standards, and industry best practices.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Oversight:
- Inspect FTTH construction activities, including mainline and distribution fiber, service drops, and termination points.
- Verify installation of fiber optic cables, splice enclosures, cabinets, handholes, and pedestals per project specifications.
- Oversee directional boring, trenching, and pole attachment processes to ensure compliance with plans and local regulations.
Quality Assurance:
- Conduct field inspections to confirm the integrity of fiber installations, proper labeling, and clean splice connections.
- Monitor adherence to safety protocols, including traffic control and worksite protection during construction.
Coordination and Communication:
- Serve as the liaison between contractors, internal teams, and customers to address issues and maintain project timelines.
- Communicate progress and escalate challenges to the OSP Manager or Project Manager.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Verify that all work complies with permitting requirements, right-of-way guidelines, and local utility regulations.
- Ensure contractor adherence to standards such as National Electrical Safety Code (NESC) and local ordinances.
Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and submit detailed inspection reports, including as-built updates and photographic documentation.
- Track material usage, contractor performance, and any deviations from project plans.
Qualifications
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in FTTH or OSP construction and inspection.
- Proven knowledge of fiber optic installation techniques, splicing, and testing processes.
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, splicing diagrams, and project maps.
- Familiarity with fiber optic testing tools, including OTDR and power meters.
- Strong understanding of FTTH-specific construction practices and industry standards.
- Proficient in GIS software and OSP management tools is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and communication abilities.
