RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY Provides executive leadership for Jeffco Public Schools' comprehensive school safety, security, and emergency management enterprise. Develops and oversees the district's school safety strategy, integrating prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery across 168 campuses over 774 square miles and serving approximately 74,000 students and 14,000 employees. Directs a complex, 24/7 Department of School Safety with responsibility for strategic planning, business operations, workforce management, and performance oversight. Serves as the district's senior safety advisor to the Superintendent, Cabinet, and Board of Education and as the primary executive liaison to the district's multiple municipal and county public safety partners, ensuring that safety and security practices support welcoming school environments, student well-being, equity, and public trust.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develops, implements, and oversees the districtwide school safety strategy, integrating prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery and establishing clear priorities, standards, and expectations for schools and departments.
• Directs the Department of School Safety as a multi-division, 24/7 operation, including Campus Security, Armed Patrol, Dispatch, Emergency Management, and Judicial Services/Behavioral Threat Management, through the leadership of senior managers and supervisors.
• Provides executive oversight of the district's School Resource Officer (SRO) program and agreements, ensuring role clarity, alignment with district expectations, and effective collaboration with law enforcement partners.
• Establishes and enforces professional standards, training requirements, and operational expectations for armed and unarmed officers, dispatch personnel, and safety staff to ensure consistent, lawful, and effective practices across the district.
• Oversees districtwide governance for emergency management and preparedness, ensuring emergency operations planning, training, exercises, and improvement processes meet district standards and are consistently implemented at all sites.
• Provides executive oversight of the district's Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management framework and school-based judicial services to ensure proactive identification, assessment, and mitigation of safety risks.
• Leads major incident response and serves in an executive incident command role during critical events, ensuring coordinated response, communication, and recovery across schools and departments.
• Provides executive oversight of business operations, including stewardship of an approximately $13 million annual budget, multi-year staffing and resource plans, fleet and equipment management, and sustainable workforce models for more than 180 safety and security personnel.
• Monitors readiness, response capability, staffing, training compliance, and operational effectiveness, and uses data, audits, after-action reviews, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement.
• Develops, implements, and maintains district policies, procedures, and governance structures related to school safety, security, emergency management, and officer operations to ensure regulatory compliance and risk mitigation.
• Serves as the senior safety advisor to the Superintendent, Cabinet, and Board of Education, translating safety risks, trends, and operational realities into strategic options and recommendations.
• Represents the district with law enforcement, emergency management, and public safety partners, ensuring coordinated planning, interoperability, and strong interagency relationships while maintaining executive-level oversight rather than routine operational control.
• Represents the district as a subject-matter expert on school safety, security, and emergency management with community stakeholders, providing informed leadership and building public understanding, confidence, and trust in the district's safety approach.
• Be available during scheduled on-call periods and respond promptly and in-person to critical incidents or emergencies district-wide, providing leadership, direction, and support to staff and first responders.
• Carry and maintain a firearm in accordance with district policies, state law, and training requirements.
• Respond to critical incidents as an armed member of the district's safety and security team, following district protocols and emergency response procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE 7 years of experience of senior leadership experience in public safety, law enforcement, emergency management, or a comparably complex organization, including senior-level responsibility for a multi-faceted safety, security, or emergency management function. Experience in an education system desirable.

EDUCATION & TRAINING Bachelor's degree required. Preferred field of study of emergency management or criminal justice. Additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. Advanced professional training in the areas of Disaster and Emergency Management, Preparedness, and Training Coordination preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Certification in National Incident Management System (NIMS) Incident Command System (ICS) and Emergency Management Institute (EMI) and Professional Development Series required. Police Officer Standard Training (POST) in firearms, Arrest Control, Single Officer Response to an Active Shooter, and Rapid and Immediate Deployment (RAID) training is required. Driver's license required with good driving history required. Subject to random/post accident/reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.

SPAN OF CONTROL

Leads the district’s 24/7 Department of School Safety, overseeing 180+ personnel across Campus Security, Armed Patrol, Dispatch, Emergency Management, and Judicial Services/Behavioral Threat Management. Establishes districtwide safety and emergency preparedness standards and represents the district on safety and security matters.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work occurs in office, school, and field environments. Requires standing, walking, moving throughout facilities, driving, and occasional bending, climbing, or kneeling. Must be able to respond to emergencies and safely carry and use required equipment, including firearms and ballistic vests.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to direct safety operations, apply policies and legal requirements, manage multiple priorities, and make sound decisions in high-pressure or emergency situations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Based in an office with frequent travel to district schools and facilities. Schedule may include evenings, weekends, and holidays with expected response to emergencies. Work may involve stressful situations and varied weather conditions.

The Safety Communications & Multimedia Summer Intern will support the Stone Division Safety Team by modernizing safety training content and leading high-impact safety engagement initiatives. This internship blends safety, marketing, and multimedia storytelling to help translate complex industrial procedures into engaging, visual-first communications that directly support frontline teams. This internship is structured as a project-based experience to be completed within the 12-week program. This position is located at the Dallas Corporate office with regular time spent in the warehouse/fabrication environment. This is an onsite internship opportunity and is not a remote role.

The Role We Want You For

The Site Safety Supervisor will provide support to the Project Staff and the Clayco safety team in an effort to execute corporate safety and health standards and procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements. In addition to your project responsibilities, you shall participate in and complete all assignments designated to you. This will include, but is not limited to, assisting in development of a zero injury safety culture on each project, conducting at least weekly documented jobsite safety inspections, effectively communicate orientations for all new project workers, assist with and review subcontractor daily pre-task safety analysis, actively promote and participate in daily stretch and flex program, identify project trends and execute proactive safety initiatives to eliminate incidents, support corporate goals and initiatives, emphasize and support proactive safety such as near miss/hazard reporting, coach and recognize workers on safe work methods, report all incidents in an effective and timely manner following established protocols and be a champion in motivating workers to perform their jobs safely! Your responsibilities will be all encompassing for each project you will be dedicated to.

The Specifics of the Role

• Assist in development of the project safety program.
• Establish and conduct jobsite orientation for new project employees. Administer and record their participation in the orientation program and issue identification to those employees completing the orientation program.
• Attend all initial meetings with the project staff and subcontractor representatives to clearly define their role within the confines of the project safety program.
• Conduct and document pre-planning safety meetings with each subcontractor representatives to establish safety procedures prior to subcontractor’s activity on site.
• Field tasks solo on a project Up to $80M.
• Client interfacing.
• Assist Site Safety Manager.
• Establish and conduct regular (weekly) safety meetings with subcontractor representatives and with project staff to ensure proper compliance.
• Facilitate training for site personnel and ensure that standards are per the OSHA\Clayco and in compliance with Federal and State standards.
• Ensure and maintain a log of each subcontractor toolbox safety meeting.
• Review each subcontractor’s safety program and ensure that it meets or exceeds the project safety program requirements.
• Ensure that each subcontractor designates a safety representative that is properly trained in subcontractor’s scope of work and has the proper authority to correct safety issues.
• Conduct regular daily and weekly jobsite inspections and complete the safety checklist noting safety violations and corrective actions.
• Record, notify and prepare written report of any violations or unsafe practices to subcontractors for immediate correction actions.
• Stop at once any violation or unsafe acts or practices.
• Assist the Project Superintendent in establishing and implementing proper fire prevention, evacuation, and fire control procedures.
• Investigate all incidents and generate proper reports.
• Establish and maintain all required safety records.
• Conduct a monthly overview safety meeting and attend project staff meetings to brief on safety issues.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or equivalent.
• 0-5 years of safety experience with a working knowledge of safety/environment principles and techniques.
• 2-3 years of field experience required.
• OSHA 30-hour construction accreditation.
• OSHA 500 Outreach Trainer is a plus.
• Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Able to work at heights, able to climb ladders, access/inspect scaffolding and roof areas.
• Noise level is usually moderate to very loud.

Physical Requirements

• Must possess the physical ability to safely navigate active construction sites. This may include but is not limited to climbing permanent and temporary stairs or ladders, using construction personnel hoists, ascending and descending ladders, and maneuvering through areas under construction. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required.
• Must be able to walk long distances, stand for extended periods without support, and work at various heights as required.
• Ability to access and inspect elevated areas such as scaffolding, rooftops, and other high structures.
• Possess sufficient visual acuity to perform essential job functions such as, close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be able to occasionally lift and/or move items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Key Responsibilities

• Comply with and stay current with changes in safety regulations such as EM 385-1-1, OSHA, and Cal-OSHA.
• Create and implement site specific Accident Prevention Plan for construction per EM 381 1-1.
• Create and review Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) and Work plans based on project schedule and definable features of work.
• Create, prepare, and train field staff members with “toolbox talks” on various job site safety practices and procedures
• Prepare safety documentation of various forms depending on nature of the project (lift plans, safety logs, daily safety plans, etc.)
• Ensure all required safety submittals are created, submitted, and approved by the GDA (Government Development Association) well in advance of scheduled preparatory meetings.
• Interact with Superintendent, subcontractors, owner’s representatives, and other contractors on behalf of the company to resolve safety challenges.
• Assist the construction team in incident notification procedures.
• Conduct or assist with incident investigations to determine root cause and identify corrective actions.

Qualification & Experience

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Health/Safety/Environmental Management, or similar degree
• Minimum five years’ experience in construction safety
• MUST HAVE EM 385-1-1 40 HOUR CERTIFICATION (proof of certification required)
• Must have OSHA 30 Certification (yellow card or certificate within last 3 years)
• Experience with federal construction projects
• Experience creating construction safety documentation (APP, AHJ, Daily Safety Log, Project Safety Plans, Site Safety Records, Inspection Logs, Near-Miss Reports, etc.
• Ability to pass a background check to gain access to work on military bases
• Continuing safety training and evaluations as determined by Corporate Safety Officer

• CQMC Certification

We are seeking a motivated Occupational Safety & Health Intern to assist our safety team in ensuring compliance with workplace safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety. This role provides hands-on experience in occupational health and safety practices within General Industry. As a member of the Safety team, the Occupational Safety and Health Intern is responsible for supporting and monitoring safety programs at Wakefern distribution centers. • Support the implementation of safety programs and initiatives for the distribution center and retail sites as needed, within the scope of the Corporate Safety program

Compensation and Benefits:

First year Wakefern Interns will be paid at $17.00 per hour. Returning Wakefern Interns will be paid at $18.00 per hour. Master Students and Returning Wakefern Supply Chain/Logistic Interns will be paid at $19.00 per hour. The Field Safety Manager provides safety leadership to all Tremco CPG field employees (including but not limited to Regional Techs, Field Resource Representatives, and leadership), ensures site compliance with corporate and client safety standards, implements safety directives, improves safety performance, and ensures site safety policies and procedures are aligned with governmental regulations.

Responsibilities And Duties

• Conduct both virtual and physical visits to perform site safety audits and safety process audits (e.g., safety document evaluation/compliance) *This should take place at least 75-80% of the week. *
• Enforce all Federal, State, local, owner, and Tremco regulations throughout all regional projects.
• Assist site leadership in developing site-specific safety programs aligned with Tremco Safety policies and instruct supervisors on safety procedures, planning, and equipment.
• Assist the Director of Health and Safety with rolling out new safety initiatives and briefing employees as needed on new or updated policies (e.g., Daily Task Planning, 100% audit compliance, safety training programs).
• Educate the workforce and regional leadership on understanding Tremco's safety cultural advancements, such as safety leadership and safety management systems.
• Effectively represent our Tremco safety culture with our subcontractors and help Tremco site leadership to ensure complete compliance with our subcontractors with applicable rules and regulations (Federal, State, local, owner, Tremco, and their own).
• Act as a subject matter resource for workers within the field in producing a documented assessment of safe working processes, risk potentials, and solutions/corrective measures.
• Motivating, organizing, and encouraging teamwork within the workforce to ensure safety practices and policies are being adhered to effectively.
• Review the safety obligations of the clients and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the agreement, and communicate to the Field Leadership and Safety Supervisors.
• Assist the Director of Health and Safety with EHS Notification and Incident Investigation processes, as well as implementation of response action items.
• Ensure that all incidents are reported immediately per the Tremco Incident Notification Policy.
• Participate and assist all field leadership in the investigation of incidents to determine the root cause, and take corrective actions where necessary.
• Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
• Ensure injured workers are offered modified duties, and documentation has been completed.
• Monitor and follow up on modified workers in the field.
• As a direct report to, regularly communicate safety audit results and/or field safety concerns (e.g., Stop Work Authority) with the Director of Health and Safety and prepare observation reports as needed.
• At minimum must have 30 Hr. OSHA Training. (With willingness to get 500 Hr. OSHA Training to operate asan official component of the OSHA Construction Outreach Program.)
• Ensure all new employees within the Region meet their training objectives, e.g., complete their Day 1 Orientation, iLead New Employee Training, and Tremco (OSHA) Construction 10 Hr. Training within 1 month of their employment.

Qualifications

• An Occupational Health and Safety Degree, Diploma, or Nationally Recognized Safety Certification or Designation is a mandatory requirement.
• Minimum 8 years of Health and Safety field experience that includes strong skills in incident investigation
• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• The ability to demonstrate the application of risk assessment to company operations and activities.
• Experience in the building maintenance and/or general construction safety industries strongly preferred.
• Work remotely with the ability to travel 75% or greater

The salary range for applicants in this position generally ranges between $82,000 and $102,000. This range is an estimate, based on potential employee qualifications, operations, needs, and other considerations permitted by law.

Summary:

The Project Safety Professional 2 position is an entry-level position, with a minimum expectation of experience in safety (construction safety preferred) and some construction experience. This position receives direction, guidance, and counsel from the Safety Manager, Project Manager, or above to complete and prioritize tasks. The Project Safety Professional 2 position executes safety related tasks and duties as specified in project safety plans and the Fessler & Bowman safety manual. The primary function of the Project Safety Professional 2 position is to maintain a safe workplace by recognizing and identifying unsafe conditions and unsafe acts and reporting them immediately to the Safety Manager, Project Manager or site team for correction. Essential Job Functions:

Qualifications & Experience Required:

• BS/BA in Construction Management, Engineering, Occupational Safety, or a related technical field. Advanced degrees preferred.
• Advanced Safety certifications (CSP, CHST) are a plus, but not required.
• 10–15 years of Safety Program leadership in Heavy Industrial, Construction Management, Mechanical Contracting, or Industrial Cleaning, with hands-on experience planning and executing maintenance/repair projects during plant shutdowns, outages, and turnarounds.

Position Summary

Job Purpose

The Safety Coordinator focuses on health and safety issues, such as preventing workplace accidents. Job Duties & Responsibilities
