PURPOSE AND SCOPE

Conagra Brands in Darien, WI a local supplier of Birds Eye products, is seeking qualified individuals to fill a Production Specialist role in the production department for D shift. Reporting to Production Supervisors, you will work on-site at one of Conagra's largest manufacturing facilities with over 800 employees.

As a Production Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting production operations by ensuring product quality, packaging compliance, and adherence to safety and food handling standards. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and a commitment to teamwork and continuous improvement.

• Develop a working knowledge of production schedules and learn to read and follow schedule instructions.

• Form and assemble cases to meet production requirements and specifications.

• Monitor auto-filled bags or trays for required fill weight, back seal, end seal, label placement, date code, and label accuracy.

• Report deviations from product requirements to operators or supervisors. Ensure cases enter the case sealer correctly.

• Visually inspect products and ingredients for blemishes, flaws, extraneous material, or discoloration.

• Stop production and report any serious deviation from requirements or equipment malfunction.

• Maintain housekeeping in the work area.

• Assist operators with start-up, production, changeover, and shutdown activities.

• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

• Ability to meet physical requirements to perform all duties safely.

• Effective communication skills to perform all duties.

Functions of the Position:

• Responsible for supervision of production operations, personnel, and safety for specific area/lines. Ensures SQF code is followed.
• Hires, supervises, trains and evaluates employees.
• Responsible for managing the production schedule.
• Supports and participates in continuous improvement initiatives. Communicates and coordinates activities with other shift supervisory staff and operations manager to ensure smooth production work transitions.
• Actively monitors documents (work orders, pre-ops, etc.) and works to improve production issues facility wide.
• Provides input in resolving maintenance issues.
• Makes proactive recommendations and offer solutions to the Production Manager to improve output and efficiencies.
• Assists with audits as needed.
• Responsible for manufacturing, distributing and consistently maintaining safe and quality food by following good manufacturing practices, allergen controls, food defense, HACCP, SQF, and regulatory requirements.
• Aware and accountable for maintaining and documenting preventative controls necessary to ensure food safety and quality.
• Responsible for immediately reporting all food safety and quality issues to management.
• Responsible for partnering with others, sharing knowledge, skills and information within assigned team and across functional areas.
• Responsible for enhancing technical and functional competencies, as well as professional and leadership development.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in a business field, preferred
• Five plus years’ experience in a food manufacturing environment required.
• Microsoft applications and report generating skills required
• Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) preferred
• Excellent decision making, planning and leadership skills required
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong communication skills.

What we're looking for:

• 3+ years experience managing teams within an SRE, Production Engineering or other Platform/Infrastructure organizations
  
• Customer obsession: Demonstrated ability to work cohesively and build relationships with partners across engineering disciplines and capable of influencing without authority
  
• Familiarity with the concepts and use cases for SDLC including SCM tools, Build platforms, test frameworks, CI/CD products
  
• Familiar with usage and high level architecture of data platform technologies such as relational databases, storage & caching, key value stores, time series data stores, etc.
  
• Strong domain expertise in reliability concepts and best practices with the ability to innovate and provide thought leadership and direction in this problem space
  
• Hands on familiarity with public cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
  
• Knowledge of Linux systems internals and networking
  
• Thrive in an environment with a lot of ambiguity with the ability to be self sufficient and ruthlessly prioritize the highest impact projects
  
• Infrastructure technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, Tensorflow, ElasticSearch, ZooKeeper, and Infrastructure as code (e.g. Terraform, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Salt, Fabric, etc)
  
• Heavy bias toward action; able to drive resolution and making quick decisions balancing being data driven along with leveraging your experience & judgement
