Position Summary:


The Corporate Safety & Health Compliance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety and health programs to ensure compliance with OSHA, MSHA, DOT, state, and local regulations. This role provides strategic leadership and technical expertise to minimize risk, promote a culture of safety, and ensure regulatory compliance across all company operations. Key Responsibilities:


  • Ensure company-wide policy compliance with changing OSHA, MSHA, DOT and state and local regulations. This includes oversite of the policy update process for the Safety & Health Management Manual.
  • Manage internal and external safety and industrial hygiene audit programs company-wide, ensuring scheduling, completion, reporting, and all follow-up activities are completed.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, direction and subject matter expertise to plant managers, safety managers/coordinators, supervisors, and site safety teams.
  • Design and deliver safety training programs for employees and management. Instruct all levels of employees on investigation of workplace incidents and regulatory violations.
  • Serve as primary liaison with regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries.
  • Facilitate timely and accurate annual OSHA 300 reporting for each facility.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement by answering questions via phone/email and following up on required reporting and corrective actions.
  • Lead and coordinate the safety and health auditing process.
  • Act as the subject matter expert for determining severity and response to audit findings versus opportunities for improvement.
  • Manage the administration and data analysis function for Corporate Safety & Health.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field (master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 5-7 years of progressive experience in safety and health compliance in a manufacturing environment, with strong knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, and DOT regulations. Experience with multiple sites/states a plus.
  • Skilled in leading others without formal reporting authority.
  • CSP, CIH, or equivalent credentials strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management, analytical, problem-solving, auditing and leadership skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Position will be located at the Charlotte, NC, NGC Headquarters.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.

Job Description

The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) invites applications and nominations for the position of Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs. This is a renewable, full-time, non-tenured, administrative position and reports to the Chancellor. The position may be primarily located in either Reno or Las Vegas, Nevada.

The NSHE is comprised of eight institutions: two universities, a state college, four community colleges and a research institute. The public system of higher education in Nevada continues to experience growth with significant challenges and opportunities in serving over 105,000 students and 15,000 employees.

The Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs serves as the chief academic and student affairs executive for NSHE, responsible for setting strategic direction, driving systemwide policy, and ensuring accountable implementation of initiatives that advance academic quality, student success, and research competitiveness.

As a key member of the Chancellor's Cabinet, the Vice Chancellor exercises enterprise-level leadership and decision-making authority, advising the Chancellor and Board of Regents on high-impact academic, student, and research policy issues. The role is accountable not only for policy development, but for translating strategy into execution across all NSHE institutions, ensuring consistency, compliance, and measurable outcomes.

This position leads the design and implementation of systemwide initiatives spanning academic programs, transfer and articulation, student services, financial aid, and research administration. The Vice Chancellor actively identifies emerging risks and opportunities, develops actionable solutions, and drives coordinated responses across multiple institutions and stakeholders.

The Vice Chancellor also ensures NSHE remains responsive to national trends and evolving higher education demands by integrating data-driven insights into strategic planning and policy decisions.

Provide policy analysis, strategic insight, and actionable recommendations, and guide the implementation of agreed-upon changes to strengthen academic quality and effectiveness across the system.
Chair the Student Affairs Council, providing executive leadership and strategic direction for systemwide student affairs policies and initiatives. Lead the development, evaluation, and refinement of policies related to student services, including residency determinations and financial aid coordination. Identify systemic barriers and opportunities impacting student access, success, and equity, and work collaboratively with institutional leaders to develop and implement innovative, student-centered solutions. Ensure clear communication, stakeholder engagement, and alignment of policies with broader system goals and priorities.
Chair the Research Affairs Council, leading strategic planning and policy development to advance research across NSHE. Establish and communicate systemwide research priorities, goals, and performance expectations, and identify opportunities to enhance research productivity, collaboration, and external funding. Facilitate cross-institutional partnerships, address barriers to research growth, and provide data-informed recommendations to strengthen competitiveness. Guide the implementation of initiatives, including those associated with EPSCoR, ensuring alignment with state and national research priorities.
Provide executive oversight and strategic leadership for the NSHE Sponsored Programs and EPSCoR Office. Direct systemwide efforts to enhance research development, grant competitiveness, and external partnership engagement with state and federal agencies. Identify gaps and opportunities in research infrastructure and support services, and lead collaborative strategies to strengthen capacity and outcomes. Ensure alignment of sponsored program activities with system priorities and effectively advocate for resources and initiatives that advance NSHE's research mission.

Compensation and Benefits:

- The expected compensation range for this position is between $50,500 - $80,600.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruiting Process- Identifies opportunities for efficiencies in the recruiting process, diligently tracks efforts and suggests solutions for efficiency increases. Assists the HR Director with identifying and recommending salary ranges, incentives, start dates, and other pertinent details.
  • Job Posting- Collaborates with department managers to draft detailed and accurate job descriptions, hiring criteria and job scorecards. Owns the job posting process. Identifies optimal posting strategies and channels incl. unchartered channels.
  • Candidate Search- Conducts proactive searches for qualified applicants through approved channels. Screens applications and pre-selects qualified candidates. Attends and participates in college job fairs and recruiting sessions with the objective to recruit for active openings as well as build a candidate pipeline.
  • Application Process- Owns the application process through the offer stage and proactively drives candidates forward incl. liaison and follow-up with hiring managers, scheduling, application review, interview preparation and assistance with conducting interviews. Provides full set of information and makes fact-based recommendations on hiring decisions to the HR Director.
  • Reporting- Diligently tracks recruiting efforts and reports on required metric. Meets recruiting targets.
  • Onboarding- Manages new hire onboarding with the help of the HR Assistant, ensures a stellar onboarding experience and process integrity through all stages.

Requirements:

  • Recruiting experience required. College education in Human Resources, Business
    Administration, Psychology, or related field strongly preferred. Experience recruiting in banking preferred.
  • Experience in an administrative or support role required.
  • Proactive self-starter with the ability and desire to thrive in a fast-paced, fast growing environment with frequent routine changes that require adaptability and flexibility.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, use all available resources and complete assigned tasks with limited oversight.
  • Excellent communicator both spoken and in writing; ability to connect and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders up to and including C-Suite leadership.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office products and ability to learn new technology quickly.
  • Commitment to integrity and confidentiality.
