Position Summary
The LIFT Project provides advice, counsel, and representation in civil legal matters which prevent domestic violence victims from reaching financial stability, such as landlord/tenant, consumer, family law, and public benefits. The Project Attorney and paralegal team work on-site at the Women In Distress domestic violence shelter three days per week and two days per week in the Legal Aid office.

POSTION SUMMARY
As a leader within the career strategy function, the Manager, Career Strategy – Paralegal Services champions the professional growth, long-term development, and career advancement of paralegal professionals across the firm. This role partners closely with the Director, Career Strategy as well as the paralegal supervisors across offices and serves as a trusted advocate and advisor to paralegals at all levels, designing and driving career pathways, development programming and training, and identifying resources to allow paralegals to meaningfully contribute to their matter teams.
In addition to its career development focus, this individual plays a key role in talent management, resource planning, and innovation. The Manager ensures high levels of client satisfaction, team performance, and cross-office collaboration to support firmwide goals and legal service delivery.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Career Strategy & Development
- Design and implement a firmwide career development framework for paralegals, encompassing structured career pathways, competency models, and clear advancement criteria that align individual growth with firm strategy.
- Lead end-to-end paralegal talent management — from recruitment and onboarding through ongoing development — identifying opportunities that serve both individual career goals and firm needs.
- Oversee the performance evaluation process and establish benchmarking standards that drive consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement across the paralegal population.
- Ensure all paralegals have the resources, tools, and support needed to deliver responsive, high-quality, client-focused service.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies and all applicable professional development requirements, including CLE obligations and technical competency standards
- Lead regular meetings across the paralegal population to share updates on firm news and active matters, align on priorities, and drive ongoing training and professional development conversations.
Resource Management
- Optimize resource allocation, project staffing, and workflow processes to maximize efficiency and ensure the right talent is deployed to the right matters.
- Monitor performance metrics and workload distribution to ensure billable hour targets are consistently met, making proactive adjustments as needs shift.
- Serve as a strategic liaison between attorneys, legal teams, and administrative leadership to ensure seamless integration of paralegal resources within case teams and drive opportunities for improved service delivery and efficiency.
- Provide leadership and advocacy for paralegal professionals, aligning team goals with firm priorities, ensuring staffing levels meet business needs while promoting a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Change Management & Innovation
- Champion the use of new technologies and practice-specific tools to enhance productivity and collaboration.
- Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and innovations in legal service delivery; serve as a thought leader within the department and broader firm.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of five (5) years as a practicing paralegal with a strong preference for trial experience; law firm, government agency, or investigations background also highly valued.
- Bachelor's degree required; advanced legal education or training — including a J.D. welcomed.
- Periodic travel to regional offices to support collaboration and projects.
- Proven leadership experience managing legal support teams or paralegal departments in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
- Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence, deliver results, and lead high-performing teams.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal technology platforms, including SharePoint, Relativity, Opus 2, Lexis/Westlaw, and other trial support software.
- Must be able to work in a hybrid office setting and meet the physical demands of the position.

What You'll Do on a Typical Day
- Advise and arrange travel for corporate business customers (both individuals and groups)
- Attention to detail, accuracy is extremely important
- Conduct analysis and research on travel options, and pro-actively anticipate traveler needs to sell additional services
- Arrange and book domestic and international business travel, in a variety of complexity, for air, road, rail, and accommodations
- Use of Sabre Global Distribution Systems (GDSs)
- Ensure compliance to customers' agreed travel policy, service provider policies, and regulatory requirements
- Use positive telephone service techniques and act on special customer requests
- Collaborate within your team to coach, mentor, and provide constructive feedback to improve service levels

What We're Looking For

The US national base salary range for this position is from
$46,200.00 - $85,800.00The national range provided includes the base salary that GBT expects to pay for the role. Actual base salary will be based on factors including the scope and complexity of the role and the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and work location.
In addition to base salary, the anticipated range of which is posted above, this role is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus which rewards participants based on individual and/or company performance.

Our client, a premier litigation law firm, is seeking a Legal Secretary to join their team!
Office Location: Hudson Yards
Hybrid: 4 days in the office/1 day remote (first 90 days are 5 days in office)
Compensation: $95-110k base salary DOE + discretionary bonus + very strong benefits package

Responsibilities include:
- Provide high-level administrative support to assigned attorneys, ensuring efficient management of complex tasks and legal workflows. This includes drafting, editing, formatting, and producing legal documents, correspondence, and other materials with a high degree of accuracy.
- Prepare and file pleadings and other legal documents with state and federal courts, ensuring compliance with procedural rules and deadlines.
- Open, organize, and maintain client files, both electronically and in hard copy, ensuring they are up-to-date, complete, and accessible.
- Coordinate and manage multiple attorney calendars, scheduling meetings, court appearances, and other key appointments. Provide timely reminders to attorneys regarding critical deadlines and time-sensitive obligations.
- Assist in maintaining attorney timekeeping and billing by entering time, reviewing pro forma bills, and preparing final billing statements and cover letters for client submission.
- Manage the intake process for new client matters, ensuring all relevant information is gathered and recorded for effective case management.
- Route incoming calls, mail, and visitors, maintaining a professional and responsive communication channel for attorneys and clients.
- Coordinate and arrange travel logistics for attorneys, including booking flights, accommodations, and transportation as needed for client meetings, trials, and other professional obligations.
- Assist with closing client matters by preparing and formatting closing documents, signature pages, and binders in accordance with firm standards.
- Provide backup support to other secretaries and administrative staff as needed, ensuring seamless office operations and workflow.
- Perform general clerical duties such as filing, retrieving closed files, handling expense reimbursements, and maintaining office supplies.
- Execute any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to meet the evolving needs of the legal team and firm.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
- 2-12+ years of experience in a legal support role, commercial litigation experience highly desired
- Willingness to travel for trials, arbitration, hearings, and other case-related projects. Ability to work overtime as needed
- Strong understanding of ECF filing, docketing, and litigation procedures
- Strong familiarity with formatting legal briefs, including creating shells, Table of Contents, and Table of Authorities
- Familiarity with managing state and federal court cases preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 and other legal document management systems
