The Internal Identity & Access Management (I2AM) team is responsible for critical production infrastructure that provides a foundational notion of Identity and strong authentication and authorization controls across Pinterest. Our backend is primarily written in Golang, Python with some C++ while our frontend tools are written in React and TypeScript. We're looking for an experienced software engineer who will help us build robust tooling to define and evaluate access controls across production infrastructure. As a Displays Software Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the remote piloting software team. This team is responsible for building the pilot-facing application software that is used to command the aircraft's advanced automation systems - both onboard, and remotely. You will join a team of interdisciplinary and mission-driven engineers with experience across aerospace, robotics, and self-driving vehicles.

Responsibilities

In your role as a Displays Software Engineer, your primary focus will be designing, architecting, and building a variety of real-time user interface applications for controlling our automated aircraft systems. These can range from real-time embedded UIs on aviation-grade hardware to browser-based applications. All of these applications will support our work to build a fully certified system in multiple ways: they will serve as a platform for rapidly prototyping different workflows and designs; they will be directly used in our ongoing experimental test flight programs; and they will ultimately serve as a reference implementation for our certified displays and controls. You will have ownership over the entire lifecycle of these applications, and will work with software engineers and designers within the team, as well as systems engineers and pilots to build systems that are safe, user-centered, and certifiable.

Basic Success Criteria

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience

• 5+ years of experience developing user-facing software for high-performance or mission-critical applications

• 5+ years professional experience in C or C++

Summary of Position

As a Staff Software Engineer, you are a senior individual contributor who leads the design and delivery of significant platform features and raises the bar for engineering quality across the team. You'll work handson in code-designing APIs and data flows, building services in Python/FastAPI and React frontends, and guiding solutions from idea to production. As a senior principal engineer, you will build and own the platforms that our systems run on. You will build high scale, high throughput APIs to serve millions of customers. You will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to improve the UX for our customers searching and browsing for products on Gopuff.

Your primary responsibility will be to drive the technical architecture and design of our business domains. The right candidate will have the technical aptitude to drive good technology choices through collaboration with empowered teams. • Lead cross functional projects across multiple teams impacting the success of the larger organization
• Lead technical discussions, design/architect and implement solutions to scale
• Support standard development practices across multiple teams, including idiomatic syntax, design patterns, and test driven development
• Evangelize impactful improvements in our technologies
• Scope, decompose, and organize projects for multiple teammates. Delegate tasks and coordinate teammates to bring those projects to completion with minimal oversight. Generate time estimates with reasonable accuracy to help determine project timelines.
• Trace bugs across the entire software stack, including into the OS, libraries, virtual machine and compiler if necessary
• Implement and monitor analytics to ensure the correctness of the business process
• Provide primary operational support and engineering for multiple large distributed software applications

• 10+ years engineering experience with a proven track record as an engineer building scalable publicly facing web sites preferably in start-up environments or early stage companies
• Bachelor degree in Computer Science (or related field)
• Proven experience in a senior engineering role with increasing responsibility
• Experience leading technical discussions including evaluation and design of technical solutions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Need to effectively communicate strategy, technical direction, priorities and collaborate with other engineering leads.
• Demonstrated success working in and promoting a rapidly changing, collaborative, and iterative product development environment
• Demonstrated ability to mentor a team, and lead without direction.
• Proficiency with SQL, Postgres, Java, Go (golang), and/or nodejs
• An in-depth and hands on knowledge of data structures, algorithms and modern web and/or cloud technologies

What You Will Do

• Supports all aspects of a software development life cycle as members of a multi-disciplined team. This would include supporting new and legacy military and commercial programs from concept and requirements, to design, development, integration, test, and potentially subsequent maintenance tasking.

This position will be a software development role on the Simulation Frameworks, Services, and Tools (SFST) deployment team that provides simulation software across the Boeing enterprise.
