What You’ll Do:


  • Design schematics and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA) for industrial and embedded applications
  • Select electronic components based on performance, lifecycle, availability, and cost
  • Review and support PCB layout with attention to signal integrity, power distribution, and thermal considerations
  • Collaborate with firmware and mechanical engineers to ensure successful system integration
  • Support design for manufacturability, assembly, and testing (DFM / DFA / DFT)
  • Create and maintain design documentation including schematics, BOMs, and test procedures
  • Assist with prototype builds, bring-up, debugging, and validation testing
  • Support ongoing product improvements and design updates


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or significant PCB design experience
  • 3+ years of experience designing printed circuit boards (PCB)
  • Schematic design experience using Altium software is preferred
  • Basic understanding of analog and digital circuit design
  • Familiarity with microcontrollers, sensors, and communication interfaces
  • Ability to interpret datasheets, schematics, and manufacturing documentation

As a Sr. Electrical Test Engineer at Reliable Robotics, you will be a part of the avionics engineering team. We develop the wide variety of computing, sensing and actuation, power, and communications systems that are at the core of our automation system. We're looking for a broadly experienced individual to apply their electrical engineering and software automation skills to develop robust test solutions for complex hardware in a safety-critical environment. This is a clean-slate opportunity to grow our primitive test operations into a production worthy operation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of automated test equipment systems for functional, environmental qualification, and manufacturing acceptance tests

  • Analyze test results to identify failure modes, lead root cause investigations, and drive improvements back into designs

  • Author, execute, and audit test plans, procedures, and reports

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to facilitate successful testing campaigns

  • Drive continuous improvement to test system infrastructure, processes, and practices

Basic Success Criteria

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or equivalent experience

  • 8+ years of full cycle electronics hardware test or development experience in a professional environment

  • Strong knowledge of electrical engineering fundamentals

  • Extensive experience with test equipment, measurement techniques, and processes for hardware verification

  • Experience with programming/scripting languages (C, C++, Python) and ability to develop and maintain test software

Preferred Criteria

  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering or computer engineering

  • Familiarity with formal industry test standards such as RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-461/810, or similar

  • Experience developing and simulating complex and manufacturable printed circuit board assemblies using tools such as Altium Designer and SPICE

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as a leader of a high performing team

This role provides an opportunity to own a wide variety of testing that is essential in verifying the safe and reliable operation of the next generation of avionics for unmanned aircraft systems. This role also has the potential to lead into a leadership role in a player/coach capacity.

This role is on-site in Mountain View, CA.

Must be willing to travel 30% of the time.

The estimated salary range for this position is $188,000 to $250,000/annual salary + cash and stock option awards + benefits. At Reliable Robotics, we strive to provide competitive and rewarding compensation based on experience and expertise, as well as market conditions, location, and pay equity.
