Position Summary & Highlights:
  • This Medical Assistant position will provide direct support to two providers in the clinic.

What Will You Do:
  • In addition to rooming patients and taking vitals, you will perform prior authorizations for medications, procedures, and imaging.

  • Complete chart prep, follow up on imaging orders, calling patients with surgery instructions, and an occasional set up for a procedure.

  • You will work in a great positive team environment along side other MAs, RNs, and front office staff.

An ideal candidate will:

  • Need to be able to consistently anticipate what needs to be done for a successful visit with the surgeons. This is a very fast paced clinic, mentally and physically, requiring rooming upwards of 20-25 patients each clinical day.

  • Be reliable, a proactive diligent worker, eager to learn, has an interest in the neuroscience field, and likes to be challenged and able to handle stressful situations at times.

  • Be friendly and confident, enjoy providing attentive and compassionate patient care, have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.

  • Enjoy working with patients of all ages and enjoy working independently and in a team environment!

Work Schedule:
  • 40 hours per week, Mondays – Fridays, around the hours of 7:30am – 4:30pm. There is no clinic on Fridays so the clinic has a rotation of who has a day off or leaves early.

  • Shift start and end times may vary based on provider and clinic needs.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required at hire.

  • MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:

Description

Works under the clinical supervision of the practice physician(s) and clinic supervisor/manager and is responsible for assisting the physicians in the practice. Assists in examination and treatment of patients, rooms patients and obtains information, measures vital signs (i.e.: pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, pulse oximeter, pain level, weight, and height), and records information on patients' charts/Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Also collects and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Serves as a mentor and helps train new medical assistants regularly and consistently. Estimated pay range for this position is $21.24 - $27.61 / hour depending on experience.

The Cardiac Sonographer (Ultrasound Technologist) is a certified medical professional responsible for helping doctors and other health professionals diagnose patients' ailments through the operation of special equipment that uses high-frequency sound waves to record images of internal organs. This team member works directly with patients and their families, doctors and other medical personnel in a dynamic and professional environment to provide the highest level of quality healthcare to all patients.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs diagnostic procedures applying prescribed and proper methods of ultrasound techniques.
  • Generates and produces diagnostic imaging using Doppler, abdominal or other ultrasound procedures: Echo Ultrasound; Vascular Ultrasound and Contrast Echo
  • Selects proper transducer and adjustment of equipment according to the needs required for proper diagnostic testing (subject organ(s) to be examined, depth of field, etc.) along with other requirements for proper and productive testing.
  • Explains the procedures to patients and address their concerns.
  • Keys test data and patient information into computer to maintain record of test results.
  • Assists physician with ultrasound guided biopsies and/or invasive procedures.
  • Maintains equipment according to manufacturer’s requirements and industry standards, at least once a month.
  • Monitors, records and communicates as appropriate the utilization of computerized documentation systems.
  • Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
  • Influences and creates SOPs for Ultrasound best practices.
  • Provides a safe environment for administering contrast material.
  • Assists with transporting patients to and from room.
  • Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
  • Travels to different office locations as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  • Current Certification in Basic Life Support required.
  • Customer service abilities including effective listening skills.

PAY RANGE:

The posted pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for this position. POSITION SUMMARY: The Cath Lab Holding nurse works under the supervision of the Cath Lab Manager, CV Services Director, and designees. The Cath Lab Holding RN will work in the Cath Lab Holding area, primarily responsible for pre- and post- procedure care of patients.

SPECIFIC ELEMENTS & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Cardiac Catheterization Lab

Pre- and post- procedure care for a variety of patients, including but not limited to: cardiac catheterization (diagnostic and interventional), peripheral angiograms (diagnostic and interventional), dialysis access procedures and line placements, TEEs, cardioversions, loop recorder implantations, electrophysiology studies and procedures, pacemaker and ICD placements.

Sheath removal

Coordinating with local offices and hospitals to schedule procedures and obtain appropriate patient information

Prepare charts for the following day

Call patients the day before scheduled procedures to provide instructions

Coordinate internally with hospital staff and departments including hospital units, anesthesia, and Diagnostics to optimize patient care and workflow (including bed placement and scheduling of procedures

Ordering and inventory maintenance of necessary office supplies and paperwork

Weekend call coverage for inpatient TEEs

B. Cardiac Stress Lab

Administer stress tests

Place Holter monitors, Zio patches, and other monitors and patches, as well as generate reports

Under the direction of the OR Manager you will work with other members of the team to ensure the operating room is adequately prepared for procedures. In this role:

  • You will be able to perform general nursing duties and be competent in all OR procedures as verified by specific competencies.
  • You will demonstrate the ability to facilitate smooth and efficient room turnover and patient flow.
  • You will complete all paperwork and computer charting to ensure accurate and timely charting and patient charges occur.
  • You will rely on previous experience to anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon.
  • You will count all sponges, needles and instruments with the OR Tech on all surgical procedures done following facility policies and procedures. In the event a sponge/needle count is incorrect, the circulating RN will inform the attending surgeon and the Anesthesiologist and a course of action will be determined and the action will be documented on the Operating Room Record as defined by facility policies and procedures
  • You will facilitate communications between patient, surgeon, and OR staff and family and other departments as needed.
  • You will follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures
  • You will act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.

Qualifications:

  • Current State of Idaho Registered Nurse License.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification within 7 days of hire.
  • One or more years of OR experience required

The pediatric hospital medicine program provides inpatient care in a 22 bed general pediatric unit. Several medical and surgical subspecialists are available.

  • Full-time, employed position
  • Work under the supervision of Pediatric Hospitalists in the in-patient setting. Participate in quality improvement projects and departmental committees. Attend division and departmental meetings.
  • Admit patients on behalf of the attending physician
  • Perform patient histories and physical examinations, evaluate and treat patients in the inpatient-unit
  • Write discharge summaries and assist the physician attending in providing adequate handoff to the primary care physician

Under the guidance and direction of supervising physician and in accordance with the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners, Prescribe controlled dangerous substances only with current state CDS license and DEA number; the physicians assistant signs his/her own name and license number, as well as the supervising physician. 4. Assists a supervising surgeon in the operating room when a qualified assistant physician is not required, and a second assistant is deemed necessary by the supervising surgeon. 5. Assists supervising physician in a procedure room when a qualified physician is present and it is deemed that a qualified assistant physician is not needed. 6. Writes post-operative/post procedure note(s) and order(s) for supervising physician. 7. Acts as a ¿first line¿ person responsible for all the post procedure management of patients as requested by the primary physician. 8. Starts IVs, inserts foley catheters and nasogastric tubes, irrigates foley catheters, orders transfusions of blood and products, venipuncture, and debriedments. 9. Exhibit organizational, communication and leadership skills, initiative, accountability, responsibility, appropriate judgment, and decision making. 10. Assist supervising physician with office hours and functions as an advocate for patients by managing prescription prior authorization, serving as a clinical expert to obtain surgical prior authorization requiring validation of medical necessity, and resolve issues associated with patient messages that require clinical support. 11. Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations:  Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) also required for most nursing areas within the hospital.

Additional Job Description

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred. RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date. Refer to policy A141 for more details. A minimum of one year of work experience as a registered nurse required. Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.  Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Physical Requirements:

1. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
2. Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
3. Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
4. Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
5. Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, as well as to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
6. Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of providing patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations.
7. Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility.
8. Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
