Duties Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the Cath Lab Tech is to provide assistance with patient care in the cardiac catheterization lab (CCL) through the provision of technical assistance to the cardiac catheterization team.

- Provides direct, safe, competent and quality patient care in the Interventional Cardiology department.
- Assists in the performance of various invasive cardiac or peripheral vascular diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Sustains a high level of patient care by communication with the patients, families, and physicians and co-works to address the physical, general and psychosocial needs of the patient.
- Functions under the direction and immediate supervision of the cardiologist/radiologist performing the procedure.
- Assists cardiologist during procedures by operating ancillary equipment, anticipating and obtaining catheters, wires and other necessary inventory and medications as ordered.
- Assure compliance with federal, state, and local technical and professional regulations and accepted practiced guidelines.
- Delivers quality, cost-effective patient care in a professional manner.
- Works effectively to maintain an environment of excellence, which is patient-focused, providing timely, compassionate, quality patient care.
- Promotes and maintains a safe work environment for both staff and customers, incorporating national patient safety initiatives.
- Prepare and update patient records accurately and legibly.

The Anatomy Lab Technician within the Department of Simulation Education collaborates with the Anatomy Lab Supervisor to support the day-to-day maintenance of the laboratories used for professional education of Creighton University learners and ensures that the lab is set up to offer a positive, effective learning experience. Responsibilities include care of human cadavers, the laboratories, teaching instruments, equipment, and supplies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. Cadavers are preserved with formaldehyde, must be able to handle malodorous conditions. This position is very active and requires standing, lifting, walking, bending, kneeling, and stooping, throughout the day. This position will also assist students and faculty with laboratory safety and will be present during scheduled laboratory meetings and practicals. This position also prepares cadavers prior to scheduled laboratory meetings and practicals as well as receive and return the cadavers from outside agencies.


This is a part-time position, working between 10-19 hours per week. Hours may vary and could include evenings.

Job Summary and Qualifications

Under the general supervision of the Cardiovascular Services Director, Manager and CV Prep and Recovery Supervisor, the RN provides direct patient care to the adult patient population. Prepares patient for and recovers patient after cardiovascular and electrophysiology procedures performed in the CV Lab, administers medications and performs procedural documentation for all patients while in the CV Prep and Recovery unit, administers conscious sedation to patients undergoing transesophageal echo procedures and monitors patients undergoing cardiac stress tests, tilt table tests and cardioversions. Addresses the psychosocial, physical and general aspects of care related to the procedure preparation and recovery environment. Communicates with the physician and patient family as needed about patient condition. Assists with the maintenance of equipment and inventory. Participates in departmental performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.

What qualifications you will need:

- Advanced Cardiac Life Spt must be obtained within 6 months of employment start date
- Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

Job Summary: To perform diversified duties in the Cardiac Cath Lab and Hybrid OR, assisting the cardiologist intra-procedurally including preparation and positioning of patients, operation of x-ray equipment in radiological and fluoroscopic procedures, scrubbing, circulating, monitoring, and recording hemodynamic parameters according to policy. Must successfully complete corporate and department specific skill validations and maintain core competencies.

Core Competencies: The RN will be competent to monitor and circulate diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, intermediate and complex interventional cardiac procedures, STEMI, diagnostic and interventional arteriograms. Responsibilities also include STEMI on-call team coverage and precepting new or existing employees. Qualifications: Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, patients, physicians, and families to achieve positive outcomes. Current RN license to practice in NC (NC licensure or multi-state (compact) license required. BLS/ACLS certification required. Experience in Cardiac Cath Lab, EP Lab, special procedural settings, or critical care preferred. Applicants with 2 or more years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or EP Lab may be considered for the RN Intermediate skill level. Applicants with 3 or more years of experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or EP Lab may be considered for the RN Advanced skill level. Applicant must successfully complete the corresponding competency requirements and skill validations within 90 days of hire to maintain the RN Intermediate or RN Advanced skill level.
