Job Title: Packaging Design Engineer
Industry: Thermoformed Food Grade and Consumer Grade Packaging Products
Location: On-site in the DeKalb, IL Area
Position Brief:
The Chatham Group Advanced Materials and Technologies Recruiting Team is seeking highly qualified candidates for a Packaging Design Engineer for a client in the specialty packaging technology industry. This is a mid-junior level position that requires hands-on experience with rigid thermoformed packaging design concepts with experience in sustainable food grade and/or consumer packaging technology and manufacturing methods. You will work closely with the manufacturing engineering and quality assurance teams to deliver compliant and production ready packaging solutions for new and existing products.
Responsibilities:
- Design food device packaging systems from initial concept through testing and production using CAD programs, particularly SolidWorks
- Focus on Thermoforming technologies to develop portion-separated trays, blister packs, tubs, clamshells, etc
- Use CAD programs to develop 3D models and assemblies as well as 2D drawings for specification
- Evaluate various polymeric materials such as PET, HIPS, PVC, etc for their performance properties such as wall thickness, strength, rigidity, and more
- Create prototype products using new or existing tooling, and/or 3D printing technologies and conduct feasibility reviews for functional integrity, stackability, etc
- Lead the IQ/OQ/PQ product validation process and comply with ISO manufacturing quality standards
Requirements:
- BS in Packaging Engineering, Packaging Science, Mechanical Engineering, or other highly relevant field
- 3+ years of experience in packaging design preferably in thermoformed food grade or consumer packaging
- High proficiency with CAD programs, particularly SolidWorks
- Working knowledge of thin-gauge thermoformed packing design
- Understanding of product lifecycle and circularity in packaging design

This is a full-time, in-office role based in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
What You’ll Do:
- Packaging design. Design retail packaging across multiple product lines, including layout, typography, color, and visual storytelling.
- Structural packaging development. Contribute to the structural design and development of packaging formats, working through concepts, mockups, and dielines to create packaging that is both functional and visually compelling.
- Dielines & production files. Create and manage dielines, structural layouts, and production-ready artwork for packaging across various formats including boxes, trays, tubes, and blister cards.

Overview
We are seeking a driven and technically minded Sales Representative - Packaging Solutions to lead the growth of our premium power rental refurbishment packages, custom-engineered solutions, and controls upgrades. Supporting the Caterpillar Dealer Power Rental network nationwide, this role is responsible for developing trusted relationships and delivering value-added solutions that enhance performance, extend equipment life, and meet evolving customer needs. Basic Duties

Overview: The Packaging Mechanic plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth operations by performing setups and maintenance tasks on assigned production lines. This position requires in-depth knowledge of each component in a bottle packaging line, the correct setup, connection between components, and efficient completion of changeovers. The Maintenance Mechanic - Packaging will be responsible of performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on packaging equipment and related infrastructure.Reporting to Manager of Packaging & Technology, the Maintenance Mechanic - Packaging is responsible for assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining packaging equipment, apparatus, and fixtures using hand and power tools. They will collaborate with Electrical and Automation Technicians, as well as other employees, to maintain equipment and optimize processes. Additionally, they will perform preventive and corrective maintenance while driving equipment improvements. The Maintenance Mechanic - Packaging will also partner with support functions to identify and resolve unplanned downtime events, as well as address quality, safety, cost, and other losses in the area using problem-solving techniques and a continuous improvement mindset.
Responsibilities:
- Monitors packaging equipment for proper operation, makes adjustments and repairs to optimize machine performance.
- Inspects equipment and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
- Observes and diagnoses malfunctioning machines, systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools to locate the cause of a breakdown or operational problem.
- Clean, lubricate, adjust, and repair machinery and equipment.
- Disassembles machinery to inspect defects and replace compromised components. Reassemble machinery according to manufacturer's procedures.
- Ability to repair and fabricate components using shop machine tools and applicable welding techniques.
- Conducts inspection of and routine preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Other duties is assigned.
Qualifications:
- Requires high school diploma or equivalent (HSED/GED). An AAS degree in robotics, industrial maintenance or technology is a plus.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience relating to industrial mechanical repairs.
- Minimum one (1) year of trades training in industrial maintenance or other technical discipline.
- Must be flexible with off-shift work schedule and overtime/weekends as needed.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Requires good knowledge of the process equipment and strong mechanical aptitude.
- Requires teamwork ability; works well with others and communicates effectively with all associates.
- Requires the ability to train and coach others for success.
Skills:
- Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematic and mechanical drawings.
- Ability to operate a variety of hand and power tools, such as grinders, saws, machine tools, and welding equipment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English to document work, communicate with management, and collaborate with colleagues.
- Requires basic mathematical skills to be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and work with percentages.
