Duties & Responsibilities
Approximately 25% of new admissions per year to the NYC jail system will receive care on the mental health service. The service strives to provide safe, holistic and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for the diverse range of mental health issues that face the population, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles that accompany incarceration. The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, a strong DBT training program, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, integrated re-entry services, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city.
The Unit Chief is the mental health administrative lead in each facility or designated area, including general population and therapeutic housing units. Under the direction of the Director of Mental Health Administration, this full-time position coordinates, and helps manage, mental healthcare delivery in one or several of the jail facilities in New York City. This includes ensuring provision of services within the timeframes and quality benchmarks outlines by CHS MH policies, providing administrative support to staff who are assigned to their clinical area, maintenance of patient records and compliance with monitoring requirements. S/he will act as the principle administrative liaison between mental health disciplines, as well as pharmacy, medical and nursing. As a member of the facility management team, the Unit Chief will collaborate closely with the Department of Correction (DOC) leadership and CHS Operations in order to ensure service delivery and meet patient needs. A major component of this position will be providing effective, inspiring, and clinically-informed administrative leadership and organization.
Responsibilities Include:
- Manage the daily operations of the program and site; ensure that patient and program goals are met in accordance with established H+H policies and procedures
- Ensure adequate multi-disciplinary mental health staffing in the facility
- Coordinate therapeutic services; oversee the referral, intake and assignment of cases
- Participate in relevant quality improvement initiatives; assure completion and accuracy of all data completion, report progress and plan of action in monthly QI meeting
- Provide orientation and training to all new hires
- Provide administrative and clinical support to mental health staff; proactively identify and resolve performance issues and manage personnel issues with discipline supervisors
- Support staff development; teach and ensure completion of departmental trainings designed to enhance the skills of staff relevant to their position
- 10% of time must be devoted to direct clinical care, some of which may include intake evaluation, suicide watch assessment, and clinical follow up’s as needed.
- Organize and facilitate monthly mental health staff meetings with other MH discipline leadership
- Attend and actively participate in multiple interdisciplinary meetings per week, both within the mental health department and with other services, including DOC
- Supervise the collection and appropriate dissemination of statistical reports, staffing patterns, bed utilization, timesheets, payroll activities and HR paperwork.
- Maintain on-call availability for urgent or emergent administrative issues that arise off-hours
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Mental Health Administration or her/his designee
Minimum Qualifications
1. Possession of a valid license and current registration to practice in a mental health discipline issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and
2. Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in a health care setting or regulatory agency administration, with an emphasis on development and evaluation of mental health delivery services; one (1) year of which must have been in an administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity.

Duties & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Capital Budget and Contract Control, is responsible for supervising, coordinating and executing the management of multiple capital projects for the Post-Acute Service Line. Supports collaborative development with various business teams and drives process improvements for the successful management of the overall project lifecycle, supporting provision of all deliverables from inception to completion.
Essential Functions
- Manage all aspects of assigned capital projects from initiation through closeout including but not limited to budgets, schedules procurement and quality control.
- Work with the facility staff on facility construction projects. Including: scheduling, adherence to job specifications, quality of work placed, safety, and regulatory compliance
- Provides direct supervision and coordination of design consultants and contractors as required by ongoing projects. Including review of design documents, not limited to drawings and specifications, for compliance with Central Office standards, end user programs, facility standards and needs, regulatory agency requirements and codes to ensure the projects are completed within budget and planned schedules.
- In conjunctions with Director, facilitates RFP processes, and procurement requests including drafting scopes for design RFPs, contractor scopes of work and coordinating consultant responsibilities and tasks.
- Develops and submits budget reports and variances as required. Assures that adequate funds are budgeted and funds are available. Reviews schedules, budgets, and progress reports and provides regular updates to supervisor and stakeholders.
- Conducts regularly scheduled site walks and ensure project is in adherence with NYC H+H procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Track project documentation and maintain records in systems such as Kahua.
- Support invoice review, change order evaluation, and project reporting.

The Kitchen Team Lead's responsibilities include ordering kitchen utensils and equipment based on our needs, managing contracts, and payroll, and supervising restaurant staff performance. To be successful in this role you should be familiar with restaurant operations and have a good understanding of what makes great customer service. Ultimately you will help optimize operating costs, boost our employee retention, and deliver a positive dining experience for our guests.
Requirements:
- Coordinate communication between front-of-the-house and back-of-the-house staff
- Follow all company procedures
- Ensure a clean, sanitized, and safe work area at all times
- Prepare shift schedules
- Supervise kitchen and wait staff and provide assistance, as needed
- Keep detailed records of daily, weekly, and monthly costs and revenues
- Arrange for new employees proper onboarding (scheduling training and ordering uniforms)
- Monitor compliance with safety and hygiene regulations
- Gather guests feedback and recommend improvements to the experience of our menu as a Restaurant Assistant Manager or similar role in the hospitality industry
- Familiarities with restaurant software, like OpenTable and PeachWorks

Opportunity Details:
- Design, implement and manage policies, systems, and processes within the Department to ensure the efficient and effective achievement of established goals.
- Assist PAGNY in recruiting and retaining sufficient staff to meet the needs of our patients including 24 x 7 x 365 coverage.
- Participate as requested in setting the strategic direction for NYC Health + Hospitals and promoting the interests of their respective health care facility, community, and patients.
- Translate strategic direction into a clear set of clinical performance goals and priorities for the Department.
- The Chief of Service collaborates with nursing leaders to develop and accomplish specific objectives designed to achieve excellence in quality and safety.
- Participate in system-wide NYC Health + Hospitals specialty leadership.
- Promote and maintain high quality student, graduate, and continuing medical education programs within the Department. Provide supervision and oversight of all medical training and where necessary, promotes linkages with graduate medical education programs at other institutions.
- Assure appropriate support and mentorship for Psychiatry Attending Physicians new to the Department and/or new to clinical practice.
- Provide direct clinical care to patients, as designated by the Chief Medical Officer.
- Function as role model to Departmental staff in the implementation of TeamSTEPPS to foster teamwork.
- Create and foster a culture of patient safety.
Qualifications:
- Active New York State medical license.
- Board Certification in Psychiatry.
- At least 5 years of Psychiatry leadership experience.
Wages and Benefits include:
Annual Base Salary: $375,000* - $450,000* based on 40-hour work week.
The annual total value of the compensation package is estimated at $451,000** - $526,000**, which includes the baseline salary, 401(k) contribution, and other factors as set forth below:
- Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
- 401(k) Company Contribution (subject to IRS contribution limits):
- Employees are immediately vested in a 3% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
- After one year of service, employees receive an additional 7% company contribution of base earnings. No employee match is required.
- Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement.
