About the role:
The Plasma Center Medical Support Specialist EMT - P is responsible for delivering safe and efficient quality nursing care to patients. This role involves examining patients, administering prescribed medicine, and facilitating healing and comfort. The position requires advanced knowledge of operational procedures and tools, obtained through extensive work experience and vocational or technical education.

About the role:

You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, management of donor adverse events, review of laboratory test results, and donor notification of unsuitable test results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) works under the guidance of the Center Manager (or Assistant Manager as applicable) for operational guidance and under the management of the Center Physician for medical issues. The Medical Support Specialist will be familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment. The Medical Support Specialist follows guidance provided by BioLife Medical Affairs and provides center level support of environmental, health and safety (EHS).

How you will contribute

  • You will determine donor eligibility; to include, proper management of informed consent, AIDS education and confidential self-exclusion, medical history interview and acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
  • You will evaluate donor reaction(s), which occurs at the facility as outlined in the SOPs. Follow applicable SOPs for medical emergencies including the development of Center Physician's standing orders and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
  • You will refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs (as applicable) when in need of providing unacceptable findings to donors, or guidance concerning medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
  • You will support the Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees as applicable.
  • You will manage employee incidents and determine whether further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER. Refer to EHS guidance regarding employee incidents.
  • You can be a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and support investigations associated with pandemic threats within the local community as indicated by EHS or Medical Affairs.

What you bring to Takeda:

  • High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
  • Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
  • Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
  • Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
  • Two years in a clinical or hospital setting

The Opportunity

  • Monitor inventory for expiration and ordering of supplies.

Job Summary

Performs the functions of law enforcement necessary to maintain community interaction, public peace, protect life and property, prevent crime, apprehend violators of the law and otherwise assure proper enforcement of the laws and ordinances of the City of Kirkland and the State of Washington. Contribute to the apprehension of criminal suspects by conducting preliminary and follow-up investigations. This would involve contacting and interviewing witnesses and victims of a crime; sketching, photographing a crime scene; dusting for latent fingerprints; and collecting other evidence and preserving the chain of evidence. The position prepares criminal investigation reports and testifies in court.

**Applicants hired as a Lateral Police Officer for the Kirkland Police Department will receive a $25,000 incentive:

$5,000 to be paid on the first paycheck following the Lateral Officer's hire;

$10,000 to be paid after the Lateral Officer's successful completion of the field training program; and

$10,000 to be paid after the Lateral Officer's successful completion of the probationary period.

Minimum Qualifications

At time of application you must be 21 years of age; a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident, must not have any felony convictions as an adult and have vision correctable to 20/20 in each eye. Must possess the ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Must have the physical capability to successfully meet the Criminal Justice Training Commission Fitness Ability Test Battery. Must have successfully completed an accredited Police Basic Training Academy curriculum and have a minimum of 12 months full-time service in the last 60 months (prefer current) as a sworn municipal, county or state officer. Out of state laterals must complete the State Equivalency Academy. At time of hiring applicant must have a valid Washington State Drivers' License.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

The working environment is characterized by the potential for physical, verbal and psychological assault by prisoners or individuals suspected of crime. Dependent on assignment and task, the work period may be eight to twelve hours a day. Other physical activities include, but are not limited to, operating a patrol vehicle, walking, running, or sitting at a workstation performing administrative tasks. The scope of work performed has the potential for other physical or cardiovascular exertion in the performance of duties. Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions and adverse conditions. Assignments may include but are not limited to Patrol, Investigations, Traffic, Training, Neighborhood Resource Officer, School Resource Officer, Pro-Act Unit, and K-9 after at least 12 months in patrol.

Collateral duty assignments available to commissioned officers are: Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Firearms Training Unit, Less Lethal Training Unit, Defensive Tactics, Bicycle Patrol, and Foot Patrol.

Must be available to work 8 or 10 hour rotating shifts.

Patrol Officers work four 10 hour shifts, followed by three days off. Officers work Monday - Thursday or Thursday - Sunday. Available shifts are days, swing, and nights, and are bid by seniority.

Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for this position will be contacted to arrange a time for a Physical Fitness Ability Test (PFAT). Guidelines for this test can be found here: Applicants passing the PFAT will be scheduled for an oral board. To be placed on the Civil Service eligibility list, a Lateral Police Officer applicant must pass the PFAT and score a minimum of 70% on the oral board exam.

Applicants claiming veteran's preference must submit a copy of their DD-214 and a completed "Veteran's Scoring Criteria Status in Examinations" at the time of their oral board in order to receive consideration for veteran's preference.

As openings occur, applicants from the eligibility list will undergo a pre-conditional background investigation which will include the applicants work and credit histories, driving and arrest/conviction records as well as other screening elements. Applicants passing the pre-conditional background investigation will be given a conditional offer of probationary employment. Once a conditional offer of probationary employment is given, applicants will undergo a medical examination, including a drug screening, a psychological evaluation, and a polygraph test which must be successfully passed in order to be employed as a Kirkland Police Officer.

Note: Applicants who are unsuccessful at any stage of the application process must wait a minimum of six (6) months before they are eligible to re-apply for Lateral Police Officer with the Kirkland Police Department.

Job Summary

Perform all Care and Custody functions associated with a detention facility, to include; transporting inmates to court and regional jail facilities, assist officers in the field with prisoner transports, provide security to the Kirkland Municipal Court, conduct fingerprinting as needed and assist the Kirkland Municipal Court with probation adherence. Corrections officers are specially commissioned by the Chief of Police and are required to comply with all agency policies and able to qualify and maintain the ability to carry department issued firearms in the course of performing their job functions.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent and be at least 21 years of age. Must be able to read, write, and speak fluently in English and have excellent inter-personal skills. Must possess a valid Washington State Driver's License. Must possess sufficient strength and physical capacity to perform essential job functions, including application of physical restraint techniques, participation in defensive tactics training, and other required physical activity. Applicant history must be free of adult Felony arrests. Other history will be considered on a case-by-case basis. All applicants must successfully pass the Physical Fitness and Abilities Test and have a corrected vision of at least 20/20.

All lateral applicants must possess a valid Corrections certification from the Washington Basic Academy or other acceptable and qualified academy certified by the Washington State Law Enforcement Training Commission.

Preferred Qualifications
Twelve or more months of post Corrections academy experience is preferred.

Hours of Work
Must be available to work rotating shifts. Corrections staff currently work a combination of 8 and 12 hour shifts.

Working Conditions & Physical Activities

Corrections Officers schedule consists of varied shifts to include days, swings, or graveyards. Work is performed in and around the City of Kirkland Jail, City vehicles, regional facilities, training scenarios, various courts, and the greater Puget Sound community. The employee will be required to wear a uniform, carry weapons and tools associated with the job function, and maintain the ability to testify with credibility during legal proceedings.
