Job Summary

Responsible for performing various functions to keep Georgia Tech's dining program commercial kitchens running smoothly. Primarily responsible for maintaining, modifying, troubleshooting, and repairing a large inventory of electric, gas and refrigeration commercial food service equipment and appliances. Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Perform preventative maintenance on food service and refrigeration equipment as well as scheduled predictive maintenance checks following manufacturers' recommendation and/or as assigned by the supervisor.

Job Duty 2 -
Carry out installations of new equipment.

Job Duty 3 -
Perform repairs and maintenance duties on a wide variety of food service and refrigeration equipment such as walk-in freezers, industrial-sized steam cookers, refrigerators, ice machines, dishwashers, fryers, stoves, ovens, and grills.

Job Duty 4 -
Carry out periodic inspection, cleaning, and equipment servicing.

Job Duty 5 -
Interpret equipment manuals for proper training, care, and maintenance of equipment.

Job Duty 6 -
Attend quickly to emergency calls on equipment repair issues, as well as to after-hour work calls.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other related duties as assigned.



Required Qualifications

Responsibilities


  • Perform numerical modeling in support of coastal processes (Waves, flows, sediment transport, coastal morphology change) in support of coastal engineering projects such as beach dune and marsh restoration, coastal structures, inlet management, coastal resiliency and coastal flooding.
  • Coordinate and establish effective working relationships with team members, project managers, and clients.
  • Conduct numerical modeling studies from start to finish including pre-processing data, creating modeling grids, developing and implement boundary conditions, conducting numerical model calibration, project scenario simulations, post processing results, creation of modeling graphics and videos and preparation of final deliverables including technical report and power point presentations.
  • Participate in project decisions regarding numerical modeling scope and scheduling.
  • Prepare various project documents including reports, technical memorandums and technical papers to be published in specialized journals.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s and master’s degree in Coastal Engineering, Ocean Engineering, Oceanography or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with numerical modeling of coastal and estuarine systems, including coastal hydrodynamics, sediment transport, and morphology change, utilizing Delft3D and XBeach modelling suites.
  • Experience with Matlab programming, specifically development of pre- and post-processing scripts for Delft3D applications.
  • Experience with wave and tide schematization for long-term morphology change simulations of beaches and inlets.
  • Willingness and availability to travel to other offices and client sites on occasion.
  • Strong background in coastal processes.
  • Proficient English communication skills (oral and written).
  • Be able to legally work in the USA.



Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Experience with other coastal numerical model software such as the SMC (USACE), SMS (IHE-Cantabria), Genesis, SBEACH, C-Shore, Bouss2D, Beach-Fx, Fun Wave, Mike21, Litpack, ADCIRC, SLOSH, HEC-2, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, SWMM/XPSWMM.
  • Experience with other programming languages such as Python and C++.

Position Summary: The Machine Technician diagnoses, troubleshoots, and sets up multiple work centers, operates CNC and assembly machines, and trains operators. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to ensure production meets quality specifications and operates efficiently.
Pay Rate: $24.95-$26.36 plus .75 shift premium
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and set up multiple work centers, ensuring initial parts meet Quality Assurance specifications.
  • Set up numerical control machines or machining centers to perform functions such as cutting, drilling, milling, reaming, boring, and broaching.
  • Mount, align, and secure tooling attachments and workpieces.
  • Select and install cutting tools in machine spindles.
  • Load control media or enter commands to retrieve preprogrammed instructions from the database.
  • Operate CNC Avenger 200T, 850 X, and Orbitform Assembly Machines.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues in multiple work centers.
  • Operate equipment through trial runs to verify setups and make necessary adjustments.
  • Monitor displays and machine operations to detect malfunctions and resolve issues promptly.
  • Enter commands or manually adjust machine controls to correct malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
  • Coordinate activities for operators and conduct on-the-job training for new operators.
  • Instruct equipment operators and maintenance personnel on setup, operation, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on machines as needed.
  • Calculate and set machine controls to regulate factors such as cutting depth, speed, feed, and coolant flow.
  • Stop machines to change cutting tools and setups as required by the machining sequence.
  • Measure parts for conformance to blueprint specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  • Discuss control media errors with programming personnel to resolve problems.
  • Perform other customer-driven or product-driven duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in CNC and assembly machine operations.

Essential Skills:
  • Knowledge of computer systems and hard gauging measuring equipment.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes and production tools.
  • Ability to read tooling prints and perform mathematical calculations related to machining.
  • Background in CNC programming.
  • Familiarity with software packages relevant to machining operations.
  • Attention to detail and troubleshooting aptitude.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and people skills.
  • Conceptual thinking and mechanical aptitude.

Physical Requirements:
  • Good vision and adequate hearing.
  • Ability to lift light loads (10-20 lbs daily) and heavier loads (50-60 lbs occasionally).

Position Responsibilities:

  • Independently operate and adjust numerically controlled Tape Laminator machines according to established shop practices and procedures.

  • Prepare for job setup by reviewing production orders, work orders (W/O), and setup documents, ensuring access to blueprints and drawings.

  • Verify that the correct materials and tools are issued and free from visible defects before starting work.

  • Identify the type of machine setup needed based on drawings and work orders, including flat tape laminating machines and automated fiber placement machines.

  • Check machine setups and parts completed by previous operators to ensure safe working conditions and job progress.

  • Prepare machines by obtaining materials from storage and performing necessary processes before operation, such as rolling tackifier and laying fiberglass.

  • Use precision measuring instruments, such as dial indicators, to align and level the layup table as required.

  • Retrieve and download CNC programs to the machine controller from the mainframe server.

  • Set machine coordinates and adjust offsets, tool heights, and laser settings using the controller keyboard or pendant.

  • Run the machine to lay graphite plies, copper ampe plies, and perform hand trimming and rework as necessary.

  • Monitor machine operations for unusual vibrations or sounds, checking gauges and displays for warnings.

  • Move finished parts and tools using appropriate material handling equipment as required.

  • Handle and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with safety regulations and using personal protective equipment.

  • Perform quality checks after each operation to ensure parts meet specifications and are free from defects.

  • Maintain personal and tool certifications, consulting with team leaders and supervisors on process or job-related issues as needed.

Physical Demands and Potential Hazards:

  • Perform physical tasks that include lifting weights ranging from 10-15 lbs to 15-35 lbs.

  • Engage in various movements such as reaching, handling, turning, twisting, lifting, lowering, climbing, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, and squatting.

  • Work in environments that may involve contact with metals, solvents, and coolants.

  • Operate in proximity to moving parts and tools, sharp cutters, and potential slipping hazards.

  • Adapt to varying noise levels and atmospheric conditions.

  • Utilize personal safety gear to protect face/eyes, hands/arms, and feet while performing job duties.

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ Years of experience using precision measuring tools.

  • 1+ Years of experience with multi-axis Numerical Control (NC) machines.

  • 1+ Years of experience obtaining and using information from drawings, documents, machine control data, to set up parts or material on pallets for machining operations.

  • 1+ Years of experience working with blueprints, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures.

  • Able to stand and walk throughout work shift (6+ hours) as well as carry and lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 1+ Years of experience operating 3, 4, or 5 axis NC/CNC machine tools.

  • Experience working with and around hazardous materials (while using the proper protective equipment).
