Director of Process Engineering
✦ New
Salary not disclosed
Seattle, WA 1 day ago

Director to VP of Process/Manufacturing & Engineering

Location: Seattle, WA / Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The core of this position is someone who has directly taken a chemical or process manufacturing technology from early stage development through pilot and into commercial production. Specifically someone who has scaled a process based manufacturing system, liquids, heat, pressure, continuous or batch processing, from benchtop or pilot scale to revenue generating commercial scale.

Must have

  • Direct experience scaling a process-based manufacturing system from pilot or bench scale to commercial production, ideally with clear quantifiable outcomes.

Strong preference

  • Experience doing this scale-up within a startup or resource-constrained environment.
  • Background in chemical or process engineering rather than mechanical or discrete manufacturing.
  • Experience building operational, quality, and production infrastructure during the early commercialization phase.
  • Quantifiable impact metrics around scaling chemical processes. This can take a few different forms, “ X size pilot to first $Y M/yr commercial production" or “Increased production Z%” etc.

Further, someone who has operated across engineering, supply chain, and operations, a true “operations-oriented engineer.” High level of independence and drive, ideally someone who proactively flags risks, pushes timelines, and takes ownership of execution.

This is a senior, execution-focused leader, responsible for translating our technology into safe, reliable, on-spec, and cost-disciplined production at scale via our external partner network. You will own the production and engineering strategy, including leading technology transfer, managing contract manufacturer (CM) performance, and driving EPC execution for facility expansion while working with executive leadership to set the strategy for continuous improvement and a large-scale manufacturing network. You will serve as the primary commercial and technical bridge between internal innovation team and the manufacturing environment. This role requires a leader who is equally comfortable turning a wrench, reviewing P& IDs, negotiating multi-million-dollar MSAs, and acting as the owner’s representative & quote, on major capital projects.

What You’ll Do

1. Strategic Technology Transfer and Scale-up

○ Lead the ‘Bench-to-Plant’ Interface: Manage the technical hand-off from internal development to external partners, ensuring processes are robust, documented, and ready for commercial-scale production.

○ Scale-Up Oversight: Steward production, quality, and throughput during the critical transition from pilot to commercial runs, troubleshooting as necessary

○ Process Integrity: Ensure high standards for quality and yield is maintained when processes leave our internal control and enter our partner network.

○ Manage all aspects of technology transfer from R&D to contract manufacturing partners, driving tonnage-scale, on-spec production.

○ Planning for Velocity: properly scope and strategically plan timelines to maintain a venture backed pace for scale-up

2. Contract Manufacturing Ownership and Commercial Strategy

○ Commercial Negotiation: Lead the negotiation of Master Service Agreements (MSAs), tolling fees, and other manufacturing contracts. You are responsible for structuring deals that align incentives and protect our interests.

○ Partner Management: Serve as the single point of accountability for CM relationships. Set, track, and enforce KPIs for quality, OTIF delivery, and yield.

○ COGs Ownership: Own the external production cost model and rigorously define cost drivers and partner with the finance team to forecast scenarios and define and refine unit economics.

3. EPC Leadership and Scale Up

○ Project Delivery Strategy: Select and manage the appropriate project delivery model (e.g. Design-Bid-Build vs EPCM) and lead the selection of EPC vendors

○ Front-End Definition: Provide rigorous oversight of FEL/FEED stages to lock in scope before capital commitment.

○ Owner’s Representative: Act as primary “Owner’s Rep” for all capital projects, holding external firms accountable for schedule, cost, quality, and safety performance, serving as decision maker of change orders.

○ Own the Build: Oversee the physical execution of facility upgrades or new builds, ensuring a seamless handover to operations.

○ Provide technical input into the strategy of where and how to manufacture product to support business growth

4. Quality, Safety, and Risk Management

○ EHS Compliance: Audit and enforce safety standards at CM and any external sites where we are operating.

○ Supply Chain Risk: Identify point of failure in our external network and develop contingency plans for capacity and logistics

○ Quality: Own and maintain Ravel’s quality management framework, including oversight of SOPs, documentation, and continuous improvement across internal operations and external partner.

What You’ll Bring

● B.S. or M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemistry or a closely related discipline, or equivalent experience gained through progressive responsibility in manufacturing operations. A PhD or MBA is a strong plus.

● 10+ years’ experience in chemical/process manufacturing, technology transfer, and/or contract manufacturing at pilot or commercial scale.

● Capital Projects Fluency: Demonstrated experience acting as the “Owner” on a capital project ($20M+). You understand the difference between FEL 1/2/3 and know how to control TIC.

● Commercial Acumen: Strong experience negotiating tolling agreements, joint development agreements, and construction contracts. You know how to structure a deal to protect IP and cash risk.

● Technical Authority: Ability to read PFDs/P&IDs and challenge engineering partners on design.

● Willingness to Travel: This role requires being present where the work is, at CMs and construction sites (approx 30-50% travel)

This is an opportunity to own manufacturing strategy and execution at a company scaling breakthrough technology into the real world. You will shape how we manufacture globally, with executive-level accountability for cost, quality, delivery, and facilities, and play a central role in the company’s next phase of growth.

Join a passionate, visionary team as we build a future where textile production and consumption are part of a sustainable, closed-loop system.

Project Manager – Engineered Systems (Power & Utilities)
✦ New
🏢 ANDRITZ
Salary not disclosed
Exton, PA 16 hours ago

Location: Remote: Reside close to (Exton, PA)

Portfolio: Allen‑Sherman‑Hoff (ASH) Engineered Material‑Handling Systems (ANDRITZ)

About the Role

Allen‑Sherman‑Hoff (ASH), an ANDRITZ business, delivers engineered material‑handling systems that support power generation, biomass, and pulp & paper facilities operating in demanding, continuous‑run environments. Although ASH is technically an OEM, we operate far more like an A&E/EPC engineering firm: we deliver system‑level engineered solutions, integrating ASH proprietary equipment with structural, mechanical, electrical, and quality requirements to meet strict performance expectations.

We are seeking a Project Manager with power, energy, utilities, or EPC/A&E engineered‑systems project experience, someone who has led large, customer‑facing technical projects through engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, quality, and site support.

If your background is in internal manufacturing operations, IT/telecom deployments, or continuous improvement, this role is not a match. We need a PM who understands industrial plant environments, engineered equipment, and the rigor of technical project delivery.

What You Will Do

Lead Full Lifecycle Execution (Sales Handover → Final Turnover)

  • Own the delivery of engineered ASH material‑handling systems across power, biomass, and pulp & paper facilities.
  • Drive engineering, drafting, and calculation packages to meet scope, schedule, and contractual requirements.
  • Coordinate and unblock fabrication/manufacturing, ensuring manufacturability and compliance.
  • Manage supplier RFQs, subcontractor performance, expediting, and logistics.

Quality & Technical Documentation Leadership

  • Manage ITPs, weld maps, NDE requirements, pressure tests, dimensional checks, and documentation packages essential to engineered‑equipment delivery.
  • Validate compliance to ASME/AWS, customer specifications, and ASH quality standards.

Schedule, Cost, and Risk Management

  • Maintain schedule baselines using Primavera P6.
  • Oversee cost performance, margin drivers, change control, and contract compliance.
  • Identify and mitigate technical and execution risks early.

Customer‑Facing Project Leadership

  • Serve as the primary interface between the customer and ANDRITZ technical teams.
  • Prepare and deliver technical and commercial progress reports.
  • Support site activities (FAT, readiness reviews, installation coordination, commissioning support).

What You Bring

Required

  • Experience in A&E/EPC, power generation, utilities, or industrial engineered‑systems delivery.
  • (Examples: material handling, conveying systems, rotating equipment, mechanical process systems, boiler/balance‑of‑plant equipment).
  • Proven ability to lead engineering‑heavy, customer‑facing projects with strict contractual and QA requirements.
  • Hands‑on coordination with engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, quality, suppliers, and field service.
  • Experience managing ITPs, weld maps, NDE, pressure tests, QA documentation, and technical turnover packages.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Oracle or similar ERP.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Construction Management OR 5+ years of relevant engineered‑systems PM experience.

Preferred

  • Power plant, utilities, biomass, or pulp & paper industry experience.
  • Background in ash handling, bulk material handling, or mechanical systems integration.
  • PMP or CAPM certification.
  • Experience with retrofit, outage, upgrade, or brownfield scopes.

Work Model

  • Remote with periodic travel to Exton, PA, fabrication shops, and customer facilities for inspections, FATs, readiness reviews, and site support.
  • Travel expected but varies by project phase.

Why This Role Matters

Your work directly affects the reliability, uptime, and environmental performance of major industrial facilities. When you execute well, a power plant runs cleaner, a pulp mill avoids downtime, and a customer sees ASH as a trusted engineering partner. This is real engineering impact, not back‑office project tracking.

*All qualified applicants will receive consideration without regard to protected characteristics.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Commercial Contracts Counsel to join our growing Energy Storage Systems (ESS) business. This role goes beyond traditional legal support—it is embedded directly with Sales and Operations to accelerate revenue, streamline deal execution, and strengthen risk management throughout the entire contract lifecycle.

You will serve as a business-oriented lawyer, working shoulder-to-shoulder with Sales to shape smarter, faster deals, while ensuring commercial and legal risks are managed effectively. By engaging early in the deal cycle and staying engaged post-signature, you will help bridge sales and legal, driving both business growth and contract governance. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience in the energy storage and/or PV industries, especially those with a track record of negotiating and/or drafting EPC and System Integration contracts.

Key Responsbilities

Deal Support & Negotiation

  • Lead drafting, review, and negotiation of complex ESS sales contracts (including EPC, Supply, and Tolling agreements).
  • Partner with Sales to structure commercially viable, risk-balanced deal terms that accelerate deal closure.
  • Actively participate in customer-facing negotiations and internal contract approval processes.

Contract Lifecycle Management

  • Serve as contract owner from negotiation through execution, deployment, and closeout.
  • Track key milestones, obligations, amendments, and renewals to ensure compliance across teams.
  • Conduct post-signature risk assessments and feed learnings into future negotiations.

Project & Post-Commissioning Support

  • Advise Project Management on contractual interpretation, issue resolution, and change order management.
  • Manage warranty obligations, service-level agreements (SLAs), and other post-installation commitments in collaboration with Service and Operations.

Process & Governance Development

  • Build and refine standard templates, negotiation playbooks, and contracting processes for consistency and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Legal & Compliance to align escalation paths, training, and enterprise-wide risk frameworks.
  • Support the evolution of contract governance as the function scales from business-embedded to enterprise-integrated.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Located in Detroit or Bay Area, or a willingness to relocate (4x - 5x days per week in office)
  • J.D. with admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5–8+ years of experience in commercial contracting, preferably in the energy, technology, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong background in drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements.
  • Proven ability to act as a business partner—balancing commercial goals with legal and risk considerations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional, global environment.
  • Prior in-house counsel experience preferred.
  • Candidates with demonstrated experience negotiating and/or drafting EPC and integration contracts preferred.

  • Ability to move throughout offices, manufacturing facilities, and construction areas, including walking, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Ability to lift and carry materials weighing up to 25–50 pounds, with occasional heavier lifting as required, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Ability to work in varied environments, including offices, industrial, and construction settings.
  • Willingness to travel to other job sites as business needs require.
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position, in accordance with applicable law.

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match.
