Job Summary

The Occupational Therapist evaluates, plans and provides occupational therapy treatment programs for patients whose injury or disease interferes with daily functioning. Provide skilled intervention using varieties of techniques that are appropriate to achieve identified goals, restore function or prevent disability. This position may work in an inpatient, outpatient or home care setting.

- Provides positive supportive communication to enhance patients’ morale and self-esteem.
- Evaluates and makes recommendations regarding adaptive equipment for patients (i.e.: wheelchairs, bathroom equipment, ADL devices, etc.). Designs, fabricates, and applies orthotic devices in accordance with patients’ diagnosis and physician’s orders. Instructs patient and/or family in the application, care and precautions of orthosis and equipment.
- Attends patient case conferences or discharge planning meetings, obtaining and reporting pertinent information regarding patient’s present level of functioning, and future goals/plans.
- Consults and collaborates with interdisciplinary team when needed. Makes appropriate referrals to other practitioners.

Job Requirements: Education/Skills Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred Experience Minimum of 2 years of combined experience required in Medsurg/Telemetry and Intermediate Care 5 years of experience preferred Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications BLS required ACLS required RN License in state of employment or compact required PALS required at CHRISTUS Children’s Hospital Work Schedule: 7PM
