Role overview
Our Employment Law Division in Riverside seeks a Civil Litigation Attorney to manage an active plaintiff caseload from intake through resolution. You will independently handle pleadings, discovery, motion practice, ADR, and trial, partnering with senior attorneys as needed.
What You'll Do
- Manage a plaintiff employment docket (e.g., discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage/hour, whistleblower)
- Draft and argue motions; conduct and defend depositions; manage written discovery and meet-and-confers
- Develop case strategy, evaluate liability/damages, and prepare mediation/trial briefs and exhibit/witness lists
- Lead settlement negotiations, mediations, and arbitrations; try cases when appropriate
- Communicate proactively with clients; ensure timely updates and high-quality counsel
- Collaborate with team attorneys and staff; maintain accurate calendaring and deadlines
Qualifications
- JD and active California Bar license (in good standing)
- 3+ years civil litigation experience preferred (plaintiff employment strongly preferred); motivated juniors with strong writing and advocacy skills will be considered
- Proven ability to independently manage a caseload and move matters efficiently to resolution
- Excellent legal research, writing, and editing; strong oral advocacy
- Superior organization, time management, and professional judgment
- Highest ethical standards; collaborative, client-centered mindset
- References required

- First- or second-chair trial experience
- Mediation/arbitration advocacy experience
- Spanish language skills

Key Responsibilities
- Legal Infrastructure for Scale: Improve the company's foundational legal processes, templates, internal policies, and governance frameworks that empower teams to move fast while effectively managing risk.
- Commercial & GTM Enablement: Lead the drafting and negotiation of all commercial agreements (SaaS, Vendors, BAAs, DPAs, etc.), partnering closely with Sales and CS teams to build scalable playbooks and accelerate deal cycles.
- Privacy & Compliance: Own Sensi's global privacy posture and HIPAA compliance strategy, moving beyond basic checklists to build robust Privacy-by-Design frameworks that scale with our growth
- Act as a strategic partner to the Product and Engineering teams, ensuring our AI-driven solutions are compliant, ethical, and defensible from the initial ideation phase through to deployment..
- Company Growth & Strategic Matters: Support fundraising and reporting, manage cross-border legal matters across the U.S., Israel, and Canada, oversee external counsel, and help protect Sensi's intellectual property and AI innovations.
Key Requirements
- JD or equivalent legal degree
- Licensed to practice law in the United States
- 5+ years of relevant legal experience
- Proven in-house experience in a high-growth VC-backed startup environment
- Strong commercial instincts and ability to balance risk with business velocity
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing cross-border legal matters
- Ability to operate independently and build processes from scratch
