Mobile Engineer:

What this job involves –

Operates, inspects, and maintains all HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems in assigned facilities to obtain most efficient operating results and life expectancy. Assures that equipment is being maintained in an energy efficient, safe manner and down time is reduced to a minimum by anticipation of necessary repairs keeping records of past operating experiences. Performs inspections and repairs to assigned property interior and exterior areas, including walls and flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, etc.  Strong focus on operating, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing facility equipment on all HVAC/R systems. Individuals are expected to demonstrate technical expertise in HVAC and refrigeration and be multi skilled in electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, Material Handling Equipment and others in order to successfully complete daily/weekly work assignments.

What is your day to day?   

  • Performance of ongoing preventive and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical and other installed systems, equipment, and other components. 
  • Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, building interior/exterior repair, and related grounds, and production equipment as it pertains to assigned buildings. 
  • Study and become familiar with the various items of equipment, and the methods required to use them properly, that are required in everyday activities. 
  • Perform assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, reporting on as found conditions impacting satisfactory client occupancy and operations. 
  • Submit P-card Receipts Daily 
  • Update work order status in real time 
  • Utilize CMMS systems such as Corrigo for all work performed. 
  • Candidate must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license 
  • Must be available for Call-in work and perform other duties as required

Required Qualifications:

  • Universal CFC recovery certification (or within 90 days of employment) 
  • Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering with a strong background in the technical aspects of HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, production equipment repair and maintenance.  Knowledge of overall system design and applications. 
  • Experience troubleshooting and maintaining commercial refrigeration and/or supermarket refrigeration. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience utilizing CMMS (Work Order) systems 
  • Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel 
  • Two years of trades school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration and HVAC

The Opportunity:

The Utilities and Engineering Services at Facilities and Business Operations is seeking to hire an HVAC Specialist I to help maintain a safe, functional, clean, and efficient living and learning environment on campus. In this role, you will be responsible for troubleshooting HVAC issues, providing maintenance services, and responding to service requests from customers and staff. This position requires prompt response to emergencies and unexpected situations, with rotating assignments to support departmental needs and foster cross-training. The ideal candidate will have foundational skills in maintenance, repair, and replacement of building systems, including chilled and hot water pumps, electrical, and plumbing systems. On-call responsibilities will be assigned by your supervisor.

Responsibilities:


  • Perform corrective repairs in response to customerreported issues to restore functionality of HVAC and refrigeration systems.


  • Install, maintain, test, and calibrate refrigeration and HVAC components across campus.


  • Conduct scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) and predictive maintenance (PDM) to identify and prevent equipment failures.


  • Complete PMrelated repairs for defects discovered during routine inspections.


  • Assist central shops, contractors, other zones, and campus departments with support work as needed.


  • Perform routine and projectbased work, including tasks related to facility improvements or campus upgrades.


  • Complete work orders accurately and promptly, documenting labor hours, parts used, trade notes, and job status updates.


  • Report maintenance, health, or sanitation deficiencies and follow all university, local, state, and federal guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved apprenticeship program in heating, ventilation and/or air conditioning; or a high school diploma and 2 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219(6).

Preferred Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of hands-on experience performing preventative and predictive maintenance on HVAC systems.


  • EPA Certification or training in HVAC maintenance practices.


  • Practical experience in checking refrigerant charges and pressures, as well as handling and disposing of refrigerants safely.


  • Skilled in conducting repairs on a wide range of HVAC components, including air systems, compressors, and controls.


  • Familiarity with various computer programs, including Microsoft Office and the Integrated Work Management System (IWMS) or similar software.

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Geothermal HVAC Service Technician to join our team, specializing in residential ground and water source heat pump systems. This role involves delivering exceptional customer service while performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on advanced, energy-efficient heating and cooling systems. Strong knowledge with refrigeration and low voltage control wiring is key. If you feel you need more training, we have paid training programs available. Geothermal System are the main equipment we service, along with gas furnaces, boilers and other HVAC equipment.
Key Responsibilities

* System Maintenance: Perform routine preventative maintenance, including inspecting and testing components, monitoring fluid levels, checking for leaks, and cleaning/replacing filters to ensure optimal system performance and extend lifespan.
* Troubleshooting and Repair: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and control system malfunctions in geothermal heat pumps and integrated HVAC components (e.g., thermostats, zone controls, hot water heater integrations).
* Installation Support: Assist with the installation, commissioning, flushing, and purging of new residential geothermal systems, including ground loop piping (both vertical and horizontal), ensuring compliance with manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
* Customer Interaction: Communicate clearly and professionally with homeowners, explaining the nature of the issue, proposed solutions, maintenance guidelines, and potential energy-saving benefits of their systems.

Qualifications and Skills

* Experience: A minimum of 3 years of field experience in HVAC, with specific experience or a strong interest in geothermal systems preferred.

* Certifications & Licensing:
