Primary Purpose:
Ensure safe and orderly transportation of students on assigned route. Operate school bus that transports students and other authorized personnel to and from schools or other designated location.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Vehicle Operation
- Follow assigned route and adhere to established schedules.
- Drive bus to and from extracurricular activities.
- Check bus for mechanical defects before and after each operation and notify supervisor of needed repairs.
- Report all accidents, vehicle damage, student injuries, and mechanical failures. Complete required reports.
- Keep assigned bus clean and fueled.
- Supervise students while they board and leave the bus and cross the street.
- Communicate with teachers and parents on a daily basis regarding student behavior while on bus.
- Maintain discipline; report student discipline problems to appropriate administrator.
- Instruct students on safe riding rules and regulations.
- Observe all traffic laws and safety regulations for school buses.
- Inspect bus by checking fuel, oil, water, tires, lights, brakes, and steering to ensure bus can be operated safely before driving.
- Ensure proper condition of emergency equipment, such as first aid kit, fire extinguisher, flags, fuses, crow bar, and reflector.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area that could cause an accident and inform supervisory of any conditions that are not correctable immediately.
- Install snow chains during inclement weather.
- Report any hazardous conditions along the route.
- Operate two-way radio equipment to communicate with transportation office.
- Work irregular hours as needed.
- Attend and complete required training program to maintain safety certification.
- Keeps records on bus mileage, gas and oil consumption, and number of passengers transported.

Assist students in safely boarding and disembarking from the school bus. Participate with bus driver in passenger management. Communicate with parent/guardians and school officials. In cooperation with the driver, the School Bus Aide must be observant and report on incidents occurring on the route. Assist in the release of students to individuals known as approved to accept the student. May be required to cross students from one side of the road/street to the other. Assist driver in backing-up procedures as may be needed. Be able to act in the case of an emergency according to the training provided. The School Bus Aide must have good people skills and be courteous and respectful.
Typical work hours 6:30 a.m. -8:30 a.m. and afternoon between 2pm-4pm.
Hours may increase upon placement on a permanent regular bus route after initial new hire period. Training is provided and is paid by the company.
Requirements
New Hire Packet: NYS and Federal documents and background check required for a position of working with children and people with developmental disabilities.
Identification: Provide satisfactory forms of ID to be employed.
References: Approval for the company to speak to three references provided by the applicant.
Other Documentation: History of residential addresses.
Background Investigation Review: Applicant to provide authorization for the company to conduct Background Checks so as to be in compliance with Federal, State, School, and Company regulations and policies.
Pre-employment Physical, Drug/Alcohol Test: Provided by an independent outside entity paid for by the Rolling V Bus.
Physical Performance Test: Climb and descend the bus steps; from a seated position quickly exit oneself from the bus; exit from the rear emergency door; carry or drag a 125 lb. weight to demonstrate ability to evacuate a person from the bus.
Training: Initial six-hour pre-service, paid; ongoing general and target-specific skills as required may be required.
Base Payrate: $16.00/hour.
Daily guarantee is 4 hours. Monitors are paid for all time worked over the guarantee.

Key Responsibilities:
1. 3. Administrative Support: Job Description Driver Shuttle Bus/Van Refuel and clean the bus inside and out daily. Complete daily mileage/rider pickup reports for vehicle(s) driven and forward reports and gas receipts to Manager. Conduct vehicle pre?trip and post trip inspections to ensure client and staff safety; document findings and notify supervisor of any maintenance, insurance, or license registration needs.
4. Communication: Notify the proper authority in cases of mechanical failure, safety deficiencies, when off schedule, or other incidents. Coordinate with site managers/staff regarding client behavior or needs requiring additional follow-up, resolving issues as they arise. Attend and participate in department meetings and training as scheduled. Report all accidents immediately, requesting police or ambulance service as needed; assist injured persons until services arrive; and complete required accident reports. Maintain a professional, positive image and attitude.
5. General: Assist with collecting vehicle information for grant tracking if/as needed. Assist Transportation Manager or Transportation Lead with related duties as assigned. Maintain all required licensing and training such as valid driver's license, DOT physical and drug screening as needed, DOT required trainings.
Position Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Experience: 1+ years of driving a bus or van preferred.
Certifications or Licenses:
Pass Company-provided training certification for First Aid, CPR, CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) within 4 months and maintain valid certification during employment.
Pre-employment Tests or Other Criteria: Physical Capacity Test, Drug Test.
Computer Skills: Basic skill level with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Key Responsibilities Vehicle Diagnostics & Repairs Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and perform vehicle repairs on fleet vehicles and school buses.
Inspect, test, adjust, and repair systems including: Steering systems Electrical systems Cooling systems Lubrication systems Brake systems Drivetrains Suspensions Power steering units Clutches Transmissions Engine components Temperature and fuel regulation systems Perform engine adjustments, testing, and rebuilds when required.
Preventive Maintenance Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) on fleet vehicles.
Ensure vehicles meet federal, state, and local safety regulations .
Assist with DOT inspection procedures for school buses.
Repair Oversight & Documentation Obtain proper approval for major repairs before releasing vehicles.
Record time spent, parts used, and services performed.
Identify additional maintenance needs and escalate repairs when necessary.
Fleet Support Perform road calls and roadside repairs when required.
Assist and guide other technicians on complex repairs.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area .
Team & Work Ethic Work independently with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.
Continuously develop mechanical knowledge and technical skills.
