Job Summary

Iowa: Effective July 1, 2010, all pharmacy techs working in Iowa pharmacies must be nationally certified through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcareer Association (NHA). If enrolled in a technician training program, or not previously having worked as a pharmacy technician, must register as a pharmacy technician trainee within 30 days of starting technician training or employment. A technician trainee must become a nationally certified pharmacy tech within 12 months of starting tech employment or training. A pharmacy tech trainee who does not complete national pharmacy tech certification before expiration of the pharmacy tech trainee registration, must discontinue working as a pharmacy tech.

North Dakota: Pharmacy Technicians must register as a Pharmacy Technician or Technician in Training with the ND Board of Pharmacy, before beginning employment in the pharmacy. An applicant for registration as a pharmacy technician in training must register for Sanford provided (or equivalent) ASHP accredited education and obtain national certification approved by the board of pharmacy within the board of pharmacy's timelines. Ability to communicate clearly and maintain confidentiality of sensitive information. Counsels residents, family members and/or resident advocate, under the direction of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider or physician on prevention and treatment plans. Knowledge of resident education principles to develop a self-care program. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Must have graduated from an accredited school or college of nursing program leading to licensure as a Licensed Practical
Nurse. Specific services/positions may have additional education, training, or experience requirements.
Long term care, sub-acute care, medical/surgical experience preferred.
Requires current licensure as a practical nurse in the state/states of practice.
