Job Responsibilities:
Provide full-spectrum family medicine, including wellness exams, management of chronic diseases, urgent care, and minor procedures.
Deliver obstetric care, including prenatal visits, labor management, vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections (if credentialed), and postpartum follow-up.
Care for newborns and provide pediatric services as part of family-centered care.
Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams, including nurses, midwives, and specialists.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives, care team huddles, and patient-centered medical home (PCMH) activities.
Educate patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and prenatal/postpartum health.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
Participate in community outreach, call rotations, and after-hours coverage as needed.
Will participate in the hospital's call schedule for labor and deliveries including after hours and weekend hours
Qualifications:
Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
Completion of an accredited Family Medicine residency program.
Additional training or demonstrated competency in Obstetrics.
Current, unrestricted state medical license.
Board Certified/Board Eligible in Family Medicine.
Must be eligible for hospital privileges
Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, NRP, and ALSO (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics) preferred.
Provides primary health care and performs selective medical services under the direction of specialty physicians.
Responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients by completing medical histories, conducting physicals, establishing diagnosis through tests, and formulating treatment plans.
Provides follow-up and health maintenance care of patients in accordance with protocols approved by a physician.
Successful Completion of an educational program for physician assistants or surgeon assistants accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, or by that committee's predecessor or successor entities is required.
One year of training in the appropriate specialty is required.
Certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants is recommended.
Must be currently licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Texas.
Must maintain current AHA BLS or higher in accordance with Medical-Dental Staff and UMA bylaws.
Valid DEA number must be obtained within 90-days of hire.
