What You’ll Do

What We’re Looking For

The Cardiovascular Tech RCIS primary responsibility is to assist with technical aspects of invasive cardiovascular procedures under the direction of the supervisor and physician.
Your Job Requirements:
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree, science emphasis or commensurate healthcare experience
• Licenses and/or Certifications (Required and Preferred)
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardio Life Support certification
• RCIS certified within six months of date of hire
• ARRT and TX RT(R) required in lieu of RCIS
Your Job Responsibilities:
• Assists in teaching and orientation of students and new staff.
• Assists physician as a monitor tech during any procedure performed in the cath lab by interpreting basic and advanced dysrhythmia and EKG’s and operating physiologic recorder, and interpreting normal and abnormal pressures and wave forms.
• Assists physician with most procedures as a scrub tech and operates imaging equipment under direction of physician.
• Assists physician with some diagnostic procedures as a circulator by monitoring patient status during a procedure, handing supplies to the scrub tech, and operating imaging equipment under the direction of the physician.
• Assists with transport of patient to and from department.
• Cleans and stocks cath lab.
• Demonstrates knowledge of medications and dosages used.
• Demonstrates theoretical knowledge of procedures.
• Orders supplies for cath lab and demonstrates effective inventory control.
• Post procedure safety removes arterial and/or venous sheath, maintains hemostasis, and monitors patient status.

The Cath Lab Radiologic Technologist must be competent as the assistant to the Interventional Cardiologist for diagnostic and interventional procedures in roles that include scrubbing, monitoring, and circulating. The technologist must have knowledge of the X-ray equipment in use, hemodynamic monitoring, coronary and peripheral anatomy, and sterile technique.
OhioHealth Cardiac Cath Labs are located at various locations. The applicant's location of interest will be discussed during the initial screening process. There is an on-call requirement for the Cardiac Cath Lab which requires a 30-minute response time.

Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist performs phlebotomy and specimen collection. They use Lab Information System (LIS) and Hospital Information System (HIS) to conduct functions related to phlebotomy, patient registration, order entry, result look-up and report generation. They process specimens for diagnostic testing and referral testing and sort specimen drop-offs according to insurance. They ensure accurate registration of specimens as needed.

Summary
Provides direct, safe, competent and quality patient care in the Interventional Cardiology and Radiology department (also known as Cath Lab). Assists in the performance of various invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the modalities of cardiac vascular, peripheral vascular, electrophysiology, interventional radiology and structural heart. Current Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska or approved compact state of residence as defined by the Nebraska Nurse Practice Act required. Master of Science degree in Nursing with current Advance Practice Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Nebraska required. Completion of Bryan credentialing and re-credentialing process required for employment. Master of Science in Physician Assistant required. OTHER CREDENTIALS / CERTIFICATIONS:
Certification with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration for prescriptive authority required.
Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required. Bryan Health recognizes American Heart Association (for healthcare professionals), American Red Cross (for healthcare professionals) and the Military Training Network.
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six (6) months of hire date.
Current Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) certification preferred.
Core Competencies: The CVT will be competent to monitor and scrub diagnostic and interventional electrophysiology studies, ablations, device cases such as: generator changes, PPM and ICD implants including complex CRM devices, device explants, lead extraction, venogram, temporary PPM, left atrial appendage closure, and implantable loop recorders. Responsibilities may also include training new or existing employees.
Qualifications: Able to communicate and collaborate effectively with staff, patients, physicians, and families to achieve positive outcomes. BLS/ACLS certification required. 1 year of clinical experience with an EP Lab is required. One year of traveler experience preferred. Cannot be a Full Time or Part Time CaroMont Employee. CEPS or RCES certification preferred. Graduate of an approved cardiovascular technology program preferred. The Cardiac Catheterization Lab RN is a specialized staff nurse who plays a key role in providing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. This includes patient assessment, administering medications, assisting physicians during procedures, monitoring vital signs, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative process. The RN also provides patient education, supports recovery, and collaborates closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality cardiac care. This role requires call on a rotating basis during nights, weekends and holidays. In addition to requirements below, must have current ACLS.

Education/Experience Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program with an associate’s degree.
- Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse

- ACLS and Basic Life Support certification.
- Critical care or prior cath lab experience.
