Job Summary
Performs the functions of law enforcement necessary to maintain community interaction, public peace, protect life and property, prevent crime, apprehend violators of the law and otherwise assure proper enforcement of the laws and ordinances of the City of Kirkland and the State of Washington. Contribute to the apprehension of criminal suspects by conducting preliminary and follow-up investigations. This would involve contacting and interviewing witnesses and victims of a crime; sketching, photographing a crime scene; dusting for latent fingerprints; and collecting other evidence and preserving the chain of evidence. The position prepares criminal investigation reports and testifies in court.
**Applicants hired as a Lateral Police Officer for the Kirkland Police Department will receive a $25,000 incentive:
$5,000 to be paid on the first paycheck following the Lateral Officer's hire;
$10,000 to be paid after the Lateral Officer's successful completion of the field training program; and
$10,000 to be paid after the Lateral Officer's successful completion of the probationary period.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
At time of application you must be 21 years of age; a US citizen or a lawful permanent resident, must not have any felony convictions as an adult and have vision correctable to 20/20 in each eye. Must possess the ability to read, write and speak fluent English. Must have the physical capability to successfully meet the Criminal Justice Training Commission Fitness Ability Test Battery. Must have successfully completed an accredited Police Basic Training Academy curriculum and have a minimum of 12 months full-time service in the last 60 months (prefer current) as a sworn municipal, county or state officer. Out of state laterals must complete the State Equivalency Academy. At time of hiring applicant must have a valid Washington State Drivers' License.
All illegal drug use will be closely scrutinized on a case by case basis.
Automatic Disqualifiers: Applicants should not apply if they indicate any of the following disqualifiers:
Driving: 1 or more criminal traffic convictions in the last 5 years (DUI, Reckless Driving, Hit & Run, etc.) Suspension of driver's license within the past 5 years. Applicants driving record will be carefully reviewed.

Any use or distribution of illegal drugs while employed by a law enforcement agency
Pattern of illegal use of prescription medication
Criminal Activity: Any adult felony conviction, any misdemeanor or felony conviction while employed in a criminal justice capacity, conviction of any crime under a domestic violence statute, any participation in the manufacture, selling, offering to sell, distribution or transporting for sale any illegal drugs/narcotics. Adult misdemeanor convictions and juvenile felony convictions will be carefully reviewed.
Employment: Dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces, lied during any stage of the hiring process, falsified application materials, Personal History Questionnaire, or any other forms during the hiring process, previous revocation or denial of any certified status (i.e., CJTC/POST) or suspension of current CJTC/POST certified status.
Financial: Failure to pay income tax or child support, any conduct or pattern of behavior that would tend to disrupt, diminish, or otherwise jeopardize public trust in the law enforcement profession. Current credit accounts or unresolved accounts in collection will be thoroughly reviewed.

Preferred Qualifications
Prefer current service (minimum of 12 months full-time) as a sworn municipal, county or state officer.
Working Conditions & Physical Activities
The working environment is characterized by the potential for physical, verbal and psychological assault by prisoners or individuals suspected of crime. Dependent on assignment and task, the work period may be eight to twelve hours a day. Other physical activities include, but are not limited to, operating a patrol vehicle, walking, running, or sitting at a workstation performing administrative tasks. The scope of work performed has the potential for other physical or cardiovascular exertion in the performance of duties. Work is performed in a variety of weather conditions and adverse conditions. Assignments may include but are not limited to Patrol, Investigations, Traffic, Training, Neighborhood Resource Officer, School Resource Officer, Pro-Act Unit, and K-9 after at least 12 months in patrol.
Collateral duty assignments available to commissioned officers are: Special Response Team, Crisis Negotiations Team, Firearms Training Unit, Less Lethal Training Unit, Defensive Tactics, Bicycle Patrol, and Foot Patrol.

Hours of Work
Must be available to work 8 or 10 hour rotating shifts.
Patrol Officers work four 10 hour shifts, followed by three days off. Officers work Monday - Thursday or Thursday - Sunday. Available shifts are days, swing, and nights, and are bid by seniority.
Selection Process

This may include additional fingerprint-based checks if deemed necessary to obtain the appropriate clearance for this position. Note: A conviction record will not necessarily disqualify you for employment unless such a record would reasonably affect your fitness for the job for which you have applied.
Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications for this position will be contacted to arrange a time for a Physical Fitness Ability Test (PFAT). Guidelines for this test can be found here: Applicants passing the PFAT will be scheduled for an oral board. To be placed on the Civil Service eligibility list, a Lateral Police Officer applicant must pass the PFAT and score a minimum of 70% on the oral board exam.

Applicants claiming veteran's preference must submit a copy of their DD-214 and a completed "Veteran's Scoring Criteria Status in Examinations" at the time of their oral board in order to receive consideration for veteran's preference.
As openings occur, applicants from the eligibility list will undergo a pre-conditional background investigation which will include the applicants work and credit histories, driving and arrest/conviction records as well as other screening elements. Applicants passing the pre-conditional background investigation will be given a conditional offer of probationary employment. Once a conditional offer of probationary employment is given, applicants will undergo a medical examination, including a drug screening, a psychological evaluation, and a polygraph test which must be successfully passed in order to be employed as a Kirkland Police Officer.

Under general and/or immediate supervision, performs a variety of duties involved in answering 9-1-1 emergency and non-emergency calls; analyze, prioritize, and enter calls for service via a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system; dispatch emergency personnel via multi-frequency radio system, telephone, or other communications equipment; record and monitor activities of field and communications personnel; receive incoming calls for police and emergency assistance and dispatch necessary units; perform a variety of general support duties related to dispatch activities; and related work as assigned on an assigned shift for the Police Department.Under general and/or immediate supervision, performs a variety of duties involved in receiving incoming calls for police and emergency assistance and dispatching necessary units; performs a variety of general support duties related to dispatch activities including record keeping, typing and filing; and monitors teletype communications.
POSITION SNAPSHOT: The Fontana Police Dispatcher is a non-uniformed position. A typical shift is 12-hours which predominantly takes place within the Dispatch Center of the Police Department. You will be a member of a productive team that operates in a fast-paced environment while answering calls from the public and communicating with department personnel in the field via phone, computer, or radio. This communication includes but is not limited to: call taking, working secondary and primary radio channels, collecting and/or passing information to partner jurisdictions, and accurate data-entry. The goal of a Dispatcher is to serve the community through respectful, empathetic communication with a focus on problem solving and maintaining professionalism. LATERAL POLICE DISPATCHER must have completed a probationary period as a police dispatcher in a law enforcement agency. PRE-SERVICE POLICE DISPATCHER must have completed the California POST mandated dispatcher course upon hire.
Distinguishing Characteristics:Police Dispatcher I - This is the entry level class in the Police Dispatcher series. Incumbents learn and perform a variety of duties involved in receiving, prioritizing, and transmitting emergency and non-emergency calls for service and dispatching the appropriate personnel in response to those calls. This class is distinguished from the Police Dispatcher II by the performance of the more routine tasks.
Police Dispatcher II - This is the journey level class in the Police Dispatcher series. Employees within this class are distinguished from the Police Dispatcher I level by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned. Employees are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class are normally filled from advancement from the I level, or when filled from the outside, require prior work experience and P.O.S.T certification. May participate in the training and evaluation of new communications staff.
Essential Functions
The incumbent must have the ability to:
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls, complaints, and inquiries from the public. Evaluate and analyze information to determine jurisdiction, necessity, and response needed.
- Determine the nature and location of emergency and non-emergency calls for service, including 9-1-1 calls, and prioritize response.
- Dispatch emergency and non-emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures. Use appropriate terminology and radio codes relaying to police personnel in the field via radio and mobile data computer terminals.
- Listen and comprehend radio transmissions from emergency personnel in the field; acknowledge, document, and comply with requests for action or information.
- Coordinate emergency calls and relay information and assistance requests involving other public safety agencies.
- Maintain contact with all units on assignment; maintain status and location of police field units, checking periodically to verify location, activity, and status, supplying back-up personnel and taking other appropriate steps to provide for the safety of field personnel.
- Organize and coordinate activities of field units.
- Place telephone calls to other safety agencies, City departments, City emergency crews, tow companies, ambulance services, coroner, telephone and utility companies, and others to relay information or request services, maintaining detailed record of the time and nature of each call.
- Operate CAD equipment, enhanced 9-1-1 telephone system equipment, multi-frequency radio equipment, Telecommunications Device for the Deaf (TDD), and other relative office equipment and systems.
- Perform a variety of record keeping, filing, indexing, and other general clerical work.
- Monitor radio channels for service requests from other jurisdictions and emergency radio traffic that may affect the City's operations.
- Monitor security cameras and license plate readers to provide real-time information to field units.
- Attend patrol briefings as assigned.
- Testify in court as needed.
- Enter, update, and retrieve information on wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen property/vehicles, and other information from computer and teletype networks including but not limited to California Law Enforcement Teletype System (CLETS), Department of Justice (DOJ), National Law Enforcement Teletype System (NLETS)/National Crime Information Center (NCIC), etc.
- Learn departmental policies and procedures for service requests.
- Read maps, memorize streets and major hundred blocks and reasonably apply this knowledge to service requests, field unit beat assignments, and coordination of response.
- Learn police codes, practices, and methods.
- Work under pressure, exercise good judgment, and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
- Effectively and courteously deal with the public, including irate, upset, and difficult callers during hectic, tense, and dangerous situations.
- Work various shifts as assigned, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Establish and maintain effective cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
- Interact with co-workers at all levels in the organization in a collaborative and customer service-oriented manner.

Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading correspondence and using the computer, and acute hearing is required when providing phone and counter service to the public. Distinguishing Characteristics:Classes in this series are distinguished by the level of certification attained and years of experience. The Police Officer classification requires the possession of a P.O.S.T. Basic Certificate and involves the performance of the more routine duties assigned to positions within the series. The Police Officer w/ Intermediate Certificate classification requires the possession of a P.O.S.T. Intermediate Certificate and involves the performance of more technical or diverse assignments that the Police Officer classification. Essential Functions
The incumbent must have the ability to:
- Patrol a designated area of the City to preserve law and order, discover and prevent the commission of crimes, and enforce traffic and other laws and ordinances.

- Answer calls and complaints involving automobile accidents, robberies, assaults, fires and related misdemeanors and felonies; respond to alarms; investigate complaints; apprehend suspects; search, inspect, transport and take custody of prisoners.
- Respond to general public service calls including animal complaints, domestic disturbances, civil complaints, property control, and related incidents; may participate in the surveillance of an area.
- Secure the scene of a crime; administer first aid; conduct preliminary investigations; obtain witnesses; gather information; make arrests; prepare detailed reports.

As a law enforcement officer, the incumbent may be required to run in pursuit and subdue suspects while taking them into custody; walk on uneven and slippery surfaces, and climb ladders. Occasionally, this position may be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions, around loud noise, and moving vehicles. Incumbents may also be subjected to physical threats, verbal abuse, and other stressful situations.

Job Summary
Perform all Care and Custody functions associated with a detention facility, to include; transporting inmates to court and regional jail facilities, assist officers in the field with prisoner transports, provide security to the Kirkland Municipal Court, conduct fingerprinting as needed and assist the Kirkland Municipal Court with probation adherence. Position description
The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) in the Department of Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley seeks applications for a Professional Researcher at the Assistant, Associate, or Full rank. The selected candidate will be appointed at the rank to commensurate with prior experience. The position will report to Professor Gokul Upadhyayula, with Professor Eric Betzig serving as an additional academic mentor. The researcher will conduct independent research at a level comparable to the Professor series.
The Advanced BioImaging Center (ABC) at UC Berkeley aspires to be a world-leading multidisciplinary imaging center that drives important biological discoveries through critical new advances in all aspects of imaging technology and that drives the dissemination of that technology through a multi-pronged education strategy to scientists around the world. ABC was intentionally designed to maximize scientific productivity and impact by adopting groundbreaking imaging technologies such as the next-generation adaptive optical multifunctional microscope, incorporating the high-level technical expertise of instrumentation scientists, applied mathematicians, and computational scientists, and building worldwide collaborations aimed at tackling the challenges posed by terabyte and petabyte-scale imaging data processing, visualization, and dissemination. Members of the ABC have access to leading - edge imaging and computing hardware, as well as exposure to collaborators from a range of diverse disciplines, including in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Mathematics, and more.
This position will focus on advanced, independent research leading the ABC computational team to develop vision-transformer-based foundation machine learning models. The Researcher will work closely with an interdisciplinary team of optical physicists, engineers, and computational imaging researchers to achieve the ambitious goal of creating a generative AI model for segmenting and querying complex 4D high-resolution data of zebrafish development. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to advancing biological imaging and AI-driven data analysis at the intersection of biology and computational science.
As this project grows, the individual will be expected to expand their leadership and adapt to the evolving scope of the research. The role will begin with leading efforts to supervise data collection and management, model development, and collaborating with leadership across the center. The researcher will build and manage a team of data scientists, and computational biologists to test AI-driven imaging models and will facilitate scientific collaborations with local, domestic, and international researchers. Key Responsibilities:

- You will create high fidelity simulations and models for missile design, performance assessment, and flight test support
- You will be responsible for the development and implementation of modeling solutions, and subsequently conduct trade studies and evaluation of system and subsystem performance
- You will work in a team environment, receiving input from the team supervisors and providing guidance and/or direction to other team members
- You will collaborate with Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC), Signal Processing, and other performance personnel to perform simulation activities according to the program schedule
- You will work on different projects, determine, and develop approaches and solutions, and provide development guidance throughout the product lifecycle from initial concept to fielded product
- You will provide technical expertise for the simulation products of a specific program, and assist Senior Modeling Engineers in the preparation of detailed plans, and may interact with government counterparts as an authority on simulation products
Qualifications You Must Have
- Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Physics, Mathematics, or a related STEM degree and a minimum of 2 years of relevant prior experience
- Experience applying object-oriented software design and programming in C or C++
- Experience using Python or MATLAB for evaluation of data sets
- Experience modeling or simulating physical systems
- Experience in modeling, simulation, statistics, and/or analysis for existing or proposed engineering solutions
- Ability to obtain an Interim Secret U.S. government issued Security Clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain special program access after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Qualifications We Prefer
- Advanced Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related STEM degree
- Experience using applied system engineering principals, experience working on a team and/or by yourself, interfacing with multiple engineering disciplines
- Experience creating and/or presenting technical briefings

- Course work or experience in some of the following fields: radar, signal & image processing, radar and/or EO/IR environment models, digital communications, probability and statistics, linear algebra, estimation theory, optimal control, system architecture, inertial navigation, guidance theory

Battery Pack CAE Model Build Engineer (Safety, Durability & NVH)

Role Objective:
Deploy one (1) engineer to provide full vehicle CAE model build and ongoing support for battery pack CAE models across Structural Safety, Durability, and NVH domains. The engineer will build, update, debug, and deliver analysis-ready battery pack models integrated to the vehicle BIW, in accordance with Purchaser-provided standards for numbering, mesh criteria, and joining methodology.
Key Responsibilities / Scope of Services
Develop and maintain battery pack CAE models for each major build release including:
Durability models in Abaqus or OptiStruct template (per Purchaser requirement).
LS-DYNA durability sub-models for the battery system (e.g., Ground Strike, Top Strike).
NVH structural battery models in OptiStruct, including full pack content and BIW integration.
Structural Safety LS-DYNA crash models (homogenized sub-assemblies and/or higher fidelity per program phase).
Build full battery model content as required (structure, plastics, HV network, adhesives, potting) and connect to BIW using subsystem include files and master connection files (including BIW-to-subsystem connection files).
Ensure subsystems are massed per BOM; represent non-modeled content using NSM cards / mass elements and manage trimmed mass and CoG targets as required.
Implement joining representations per Purchaser standards (weld/bond/bolt); represent major bolted joints with solid bolt models and preload where required.
Deliver 0 ms LS-DYNA model debugged to pass error-free model checks; include required instrumentation (force X-sections on major load paths, accelerometers at specified locations).
Support high-fidelity explicit pack models as requested (e.g., cells, cooling plates/features, busbars, vents) and provide de-contented variants when required.
Delivery & Reporting Requirements
Deliver models in compliance with the Purchaser Model Checklist and provide a Seller delivery checklist confirming model run-readiness and documenting any deviations.
Report with each full vehicle CAE model delivery: global energy, mass scaling, and total model mass (as applicable to the domain).
Maintain consistent mesh quality and alignment across domains where required.
Minimum Qualifications (Deployed Engineer)
Demonstrated experience building vehicle CAE models, with battery pack focus preferred.
Proficiency in LS-DYNA, OptiStruct, and Abaqus (as applicable) including model assembly, BIW integration, connections/includes, and debugging.
Strong capability in mesh quality, BOM massing/NSM, joints modeling (weld/bond/bolt), and checklist-driven delivery discipline.
