Job Overview
Komatsu's Mechanical Assemblers perform a wide range of component and final assembly work in the production of Komatsu's off-road mining trucks. Some examples of this work include building and testing brake assemblies, installation of hydraulic components, and the final assembly of chassis and power train structures.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Will perform various mechanical and electrical assembly functions including, but not limited to, assembly of hydraulic equipment, installation and adjustment of mechanical components, mechanically finalize and test equipment prior to shipment
- Works from engineering prints, routings, and procedures with minimum supervision
- Will be responsible for quality and safety of own work including the use of appropriate protective equipment
- Under the direction of an Electrical Assembler, may install harness structures, cables, and power cables, but may not make final connections
- Will disassemble and load equipment for shipments as directed
- May perform light carpentry work such as designing, sawing, and build boxes, crates and ladders
- Use information systems, as necessary to perform job duties
- Operates equipment and performs inspection including appropriate documentation
- May work with Engineering Department on new model introduction or continuous improvement
Qualifications/Requirements
- Well qualified candidates will demonstrate three or more years of experience in as an automotive, diesel, or heavy equipment mechanic. Three years in similar occupations such as aviation mechanic, marine mechanic, major appliance repair, or HVAC repair involving complex assembly, troubleshooting and repair will also be considered.
- Experience and expertise reading and utilizing blueprints to assemble and/or troubleshoot
- Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
- Computer literacy and experience using computer systems to document or retrieve information
- Demonstrated ability to work safely in an industrial environment
- Will be required to complete a physical commensurate with DOL Medium duty work requirements which includes drug testing.

The Supervisor is accountable and responsible for managing departmental safety, environmental controls, development of production employees for optimum performance, plant production including quality control, protection of equipment and departmental cost controls.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and develop production employees to achieve established goals of safety, environmental performance, production volume, quality, service and cost.
- Interview applicants in accordance to applicable laws and ensure all employees are properly oriented and trained.
- Develop and implement continuous improvement within departmental employees' performance through regular feedback, coaching and training.

- Responsible for 5-S in their department. Also, responsible for training and mentoring of employees in the basic of 5-S.
- Promote harmony in the workforce through good and open communication; fair, consistent and respectful treatment, while maintaining discipline within the department. Disciplinary action shall be administered in accordance with established company procedures.
- Responsible for timely input of information into ADP Time and Attendance to assist Payroll in the preparation of weekly payroll.
- Conduct annual performance reviews for all subordinates, complete the review form and make recommendations for rate increases. Recommend wage adjustments, promotions, demotions, terminations, layoffs, etc.
- Promote safety through active participation and support of company safety policies and programs and initiating corrective action for recognized unsafe conditions or hazards. Report any incident, regardless of severity, including fire, equipment damage, facility damage, or employee injury to the Safety Department.
- Ensure compliance to all scheduled and unscheduled preventative maintenance routines to ensure optimum equipment performance and minimize equipment downtime. Report any abnormal machine operation or condition to the Maintenance Department immediately.
- Order necessary supplies for the department.
- Other responsibilities and accountabilities as assigned.

Position Description
Job Summary:
The Heavy Equipment Mechanic is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the mobile equipment fleet within the specified territory to ensure alignment with the Company’s vision and objectives. This individual will manage our maintenance and repair facility while always keeping safety at the forefront of everything we do. This is a union position affiliated with Local 158.
Essential Functions:
- Focused.. Support the company’s mission, vision, values, and operational goals by prioritizing safety, integrity, dedication, and efficiency in all activities.
- Safety always wins. Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop and work environment, ensuring the safety of employees, visitors, and contractors through strong housekeeping practices and adherence to safety standards.
- Dedication. Ensure full compliance with FMCSA fleet maintenance regulations and company standards by maintaining accurate service records, managing the upkeep of the service truck, and following 5S practices.
- Communicate. Coordinate with Plant Managers and operations teams to prioritize equipment repairs and maintenance needs to support production and operational continuity.
- Ownership and caring. Manage the procurement of parts, vendor services, and repair resources, including communicating with vendors and dispatching manufacturer service providers (e.g., Milton CAT, Anderson Komatsu) when required under service agreements.
- Determined. Maintain appropriate inventory levels of wear parts, lubricants, and maintenance supplies necessary to support equipment and vehicle reliability across assigned sites.
- Protect family and friends. Plan, schedule, and perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on company vehicles, trailers, and heavy equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
- Obligated. Utilize diagnostic software and tools (e.g., CAT ET, Cummins Insite, Komtrax, VisionLink) to troubleshoot and repair electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
- Measurement. Accurately track and code maintenance costs, including parts purchases and external repair services, to support financial accountability and reporting.
- Results matter. Contribute to annual budgeting, capital expenditure planning, and cost-saving initiatives related to equipment, fleet, and facility operations.
- Committed to serve. Oversee facility and building maintenance, including HVAC, plumbing, lighting, and safe access/egress, to ensure a safe and functional work environment.
- Respect and engage. Support plant operations and production teams with equipment or facility repairs as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
Position Requirements
Requirements, Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED, required
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working in the Heavy Equipment or Trucking Industry.
- Must be familiar with the Microsoft suite of applications Word, Excel and Power Point.
- Strong communication skills, proficient use of verbal and written English.
- Valid driver’s license required, must maintain reliable transportation.
- Must have the legal right to work in the U.S.

Looking for a heavy equipment mechanic for shop or field with the following skills.
Minimum of five years' experience in the heavy equipment construction repair industry.
Needs to be able to diagnose and repair the following:
• Diesel engines, understand the internal workings, be able to troubleshoot fuel system and engine performance problems (CAT, Komatsu, Cummins, Perkin)
• Hydraulic system control function, hydraulic cylinder repair and be familiarized with control valves
