3. Evaluate the home environment to support therapy success (safety, assistive devices, caregiver support).
4. Identify patient, family, and caregiver needs, preferences, and goals.

Treatment Planning & Implementation

1. Develop individualized, measurable therapy plans aligned with patient goals, family input, and physician orders.

3. Record therapy elements that support billing, justification, and compliance.

Communication & Collaboration

1. Participate in care team meetings, case discussions, and interdisciplinary conferences.

Position Summary

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) provides direct rehab care in speech therapy to patients upon physician referral in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.


Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited program in speech therapy (minimum MS or MA SLP)
  • ASHA certified (CCCs) OR must be eligible for 9 month Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY) in order to earn ASHA certification (CCCs) and/or meeting ASHA credentialing criteria. Once achieved, must maintain ASHA credentialing.
  • Currently registered/licensed in applicable State. Must maintain an active license in good standing throughout employment.
  • One (1) year experience in post acute care or related setting preferred
  • CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.

Specific Job Requirements

  • Participates in community health matters/projects as appropriate
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and e mail
  • Liaisons with patients, families, support departments, etc., to adequately plan for patient needs

Job Summary

A Speech-language pathologist (SLP) evaluates and treats patients in the acute medical setting. The speech pathologist provides services to patients of all ages as ordered immediately post trauma, surgery, acute medical event or exacerbation. Speech pathologists assist patients to reach their highest level of function in the areas of communication and swallowing. The SLP makes recommendations for the next level of care and also provides education and to patients and their families. Speech pathologists participate in specialty teams including pediatric, neonatal care, assistive technology, and endoscopic voice/swallowing assessments.

Job Requirements

Education

โ€ข Required: Masterโ€™s Degree in Speech Pathology/Communicative Disorders and Sciences

Experience

โ€ข Preferred: Prior one year hospital/health care related experience

Skills

โ€ข Good clinical expertise, human relations skills and organizational skills required.
โ€ข Self-motivated individual who can work independently with little direct supervision required
โ€ข Has demonstrated interest in professional growth by attendance at continuing education workshops, and applications of new principles and/or techniques.
โ€ข Must have good communication skills and a positive attitude

Licensure/Certification/Registration

โ€ข Required: License of Speech Therapy active in the state of Missouri, CCC or CFY candidate AND BLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire Education:
