Job Description

Under general supervision, the Seal Repair Technician is responsible for all processes related to disassembly and assembly of rotating equipment. The Seal Repair Technician follows instruction from a Repair job packet and router to perform DCI (Dismantle Clean and Inspect) and gives a written description of the wear and condition of critical components seal.

This position completes all inspection forms taking pictures of all critical components and uses inspection equipment for proper documentation of the assembly. With assistance identifies, inspects and evaluates material returned, determines repair operations, performs simple shop operations, verify specifications, initiate work and purchase orders.

Receives John Crane parts and materials returned by customers and branch offices. Evaluates from a condition of material, checks current drawing revisions and general product knowledge whether material is repairable or non-repairable.

  • Identifies and inspects material returned.
  • Ensures all components are properly cleaned and free from foreign material per departmental procedures
  • Performs the assembly of the seal once the repair has been released to the shop and all components have been replaced or reconditioned and marked ready for assembly.
  • Under close supervision, repairs returned seals and seal parts.
  • May perform parts structuring, checks cost structure, and determines price of repair, ensures assembly is structured correctly, and price repair.
  • Determines necessary repair operations, ensures BOM (bill of materials) / drawings / repair parts match.
  • Performs simple operations on drill press (single spindle), tool post grinder, bead blast polisher and lapping machine.
  • Verifies part specifications with measuring instruments such as micrometer, vernier caliper, dial indicator and optical flats.
  • May initiates purchase orders for new jobs if vendors are involved.
  • Consults with Engineering or Sales departments as necessary.
  • Maintains necessary records and small inventory of seal parts used for repair orders.
  • Works from factory work orders, prints, rework orders and verbal instructions.
  • Assists newer repair personnel as necessary.
  • Sets up and troubleshoots lapping machines for repair maintenance.
  • May perform direct contact with customers on service and/or phone, checks computer system for credit and address information, price repairs

Night Shift hours (4:30p - 1:00a)


Sets up, writes programs and edits existing programs, and operates numerically controlled machinery. These include but are not limited to lathes, mills, drills, and other machinery as required.

  • Maintains quality and tolerances within .0003”.
  • Follow written and verbal procedures for machining and other duties.

Safety Competencies:

  • Ensure glove and hand safety.

  • Use face shields appropriately.
  • Inspect cranes and hoists and maintain logs.
  • Properly rig and use cranes.
  • Safely operate CNC mills and lathes, adhering to manufacturer and company safety protocols.
  • Practice proper lifting techniques and recognize trip hazards.
  • Complete safety skills and SED on time.
  • Participate in monthly safety meetings.

  • Clean collets and remove the chips, and clean tool holder caps before and after use.

Job Summary:
The Production Assembler works under close direction of senior personnel performing assigned assembly processes to manufacture Crane Aerospace & Electronics products in accordance with military and/or other assembly standards using visual aids, verbal and/or written instructions.
Essential Functions:

  • Perform assigned assembly tasks
  • Prepare components prior to assembly, clean components, mark, and inspect components, subassemblies, or completed assemblies
  • Demonstrate proficiency in performing established operations within assigned area processes
  • Ability to ensure all paperwork is completed appropriately
  • Set up and operate assigned equipment and machinery
  • Observe proper health and safety procedures in handling hazardous chemicals
  • Identify and report to lead or supervisor any difficulty which would affect the correctness and quality of the work in process
  • Participate in cleaning of area and machinery and take part in team meetings for improvement
  • Complete job-related company training courses as assigned

Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor II leads and directs a team of employees in an assigned area of operations such as Metal Fabrication, Assembly, and/or Test. The Production Supervisor II is accountable for maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to quality standards and is responsible for meeting customer demand schedules within established cost goals. Supervision may include the management of employees on more than one shift.

Essential Functions:
  • Identify and use lean manufacturing tools required to drive improvements and mentor teammates in the use of these tools
  • Provide inputs (resource planning, overtime projections, productivity improvements) to management to develop monthly and annual budgets
  • Assist Value Stream Managers with required monthly reporting to senior level management
  • Review and understand daily key performance indicators to evaluate the current status and gap to plan, and use this data to drive daily problem solving (8 Step, 5 Why, Cause and Effect, Fishbone) where required
  • Ensure timely identification of quality issues through the use of the non-conforming materials process to ensure scrap and rework are properly processed
  • Serve as liaison to other groups, product lines and/or functional areas to ensure products are built, assembled, and/or tested within appropriate parameters
