EP 6.5- Inpatient post-op recovery unit. The complex patient population is primarily colorectal and comprises a multitude of other services including plastic surgery, urology, trauma, emergency general surgery and orthopedics, as well as medicine.

EP 6.4- Surgical unit that has mixed acuity including both step down and floor level beds. The unit has the capacity to see a diverse population of surgical, orthopedic, neurology, neurosurgery, plastics, general surgery and trauma patients

Saint Raphael Campus (SRC):

Main 6- Specializing in bariatric, minimally invasive, and colo-rectal surgery. There is also exposure to medicine and general surgery overflow.

SLA 2- Surgical telemetry unit caring for both medicine and surgical populations including podiatry, vascular and general medicine overflow.

V3S- Diverse clinical population including urology, general surgery, OMF, ENT, plastics, vascular, and medicine overflow.

Position Overview

Provide service and support before, during, and after surgical procedures. Ensures the presence and proper arrangement of surgical equipment and supplies in the operating room to each operation; assists the surgeon during the operation as allowed by professional and legal standards; and assists with cleaning operating room after the operation ensuring proper routing of equipment, and used material. Reports to Manager. 

 



Qualifications

• Completion of a surgical technician program.
• Must be certified through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical
• Assisting (NBSTSA) or be able to obtain certification within one year of employment.
• Maintainence of CPR, BLS validation and attendance of annual Validation Day required.
• Knowledge of various surgical procedures with the ability to anticipate the needs of the
surgeon and to recognize the problems encountered by the surgeon.
• Knowledge of name and function of surgical equipment and instrumentation required.
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills.
• Strict adherence to policies and regulations regarding maintenance of sterile field required.
