Opportunity
Skybound is looking for a creative, strategic, detail-oriented Editor to acquire and edit comic books across multiple genres. This position will be responsible for acquiring and developing creators/books, as well as working with the editorial, design, publicity, and marketing teams to develop the publishing strategy.
Reports: This position will report to the Editorial Director
Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Work with writers and artists to acquire titles with the correct editorial fit for the publishing strategy
- Manage development and production of Skybound original comics, licensed comics, digital comics, media tie-ins, custom projects, and additional projects, as needed
- Read submissions, respond to writers/artists/agents, present projects, negotiate contracts, and monitor payments to authors
- Perform all editorial functions when appropriate, including reading and evaluating proposals, providing revisions to authors, and line editing
- Work closely with creators and internal team to maintain publication schedules and due dates
- Write sales copy for internal positioning and out-of-house product descriptions
- Keep up to date on competitive marketplace, both print and digital
- Demonstrate and strive for continued innovation, creativity, consumer and competitive insights
- Collaborate with team as needed to support imprint strategy, growth, and crowdfunding campaigns
- Provide editorial input into packaging design and copy to ensure key selling features are reflected in the book package
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, with 3-5 years of progressive editorial and acquisitions experience within the comic book industry.
- Experience editing comic books and extensive knowledge of the comic book marketplace
- Knowledge of art, ability to discuss composition, color, and design required
- Strong communication and editorial skills
- Experience finding, editing, and cultivating key creators
- Strong project management, planning and organizing, teamwork and collaboration, negotiation skills, and a drive for results
- Good relationships with creators and agents
- High level of creativity/innovation, functional/technical knowledge

Job Type: Regular, Full-Time
Salary Range: $68,000 - $75,000
- Actual base salary is dependent on several factors including but not limited to; market dynamics, location and region, experience, specialized skills/training (education), level of responsibility, budgetary considerations, tenure at the company (for current employees), etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Research Duties
- Identify and promote on and off-campus research, internship and fellowship opportunities available to graduate students.
- Maintain up-to-date website research and internship opportunities for students
- Foster relationships with faculty and external research organizations to increase research opportunities for students.
Career Services:
- Provide individualized career counseling and support to graduate student’s resources and tools to help students navigate their career paths effectively.

Field Superintendent
We have an immediate opportunity for an experienced Construction Field Superintendent with Underground Power experience in the Los Angeles area. Ability to complete construction projects by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors, field staff, and sub-contractors.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Directly oversees job site personnel and subcontractors engaged in planning and executing work schedules and coordinating various phases of construction to prevent delays
- Works with Project Manager and Scheduler in the development and refinement of the project schedule to keep the schedules properly updated and see that the job meets the completion date while meeting budget
- Responsible for approving all expenses for each assigned job; ensure they are applied to the proper job and phase code
- Studies specifications to plan procedures for construction on basis of starting and completion times
- Orders procurement of tools and materials to be delivered at specific times to conform to work schedules
- Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications and the adherence to construction schedules
- Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used, costs and adjusts work schedules as indicated on reports
- Completes Daily Field Production Reports on a daily basis
- Monitors contract compliance for each job to ensure the company is protected regarding liabilities matters and liens
- Required to participate in resolving labor disputes and related negotiations are required
- Responsible for obtaining signed change orders when appropriate and submitting to their Managers and Accounting for processing
- Provide directions to the A/R department to ensure invoices are properly and timely created

Qualifications and Experience
- Four-year degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business Administration preferred
- 10 plus years of Construction knowledge and experience working in the capacity of a General Foreman or Superintendent in Underground Utility Installation

Job Summary
The Security Department’s team is responsible for the safety and security of Peacock Theater and Arena guests, team members, and assets at all times.
Essential Functions
- Conduct patrols of the building on a regular basis.
- Respond to all security and safety related issues in a timely manner.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provides individual and group career advising through one-on-one meetings, group settings, and college outreach in accordance with NACE standards.
- Demonstrate that students are meeting the requisite competencies that broadly prepare clinicians and undergraduates for work after the attainment of their degree. Competencies are met, such as when a student has the skills to apply, interview, and attain a position.
- Provides assistance and assessment of student aptitudes, abilities, strengths, interests, and selects appropriate career goals, and implements corrective measures to alleviate any deficiencies.
- Conducts career advisement workshops, including but not limited to resume writing, networking, interviewing skills, and other career-oriented material.
- Implement a career and internship fair every fall and spring semester with alumni/ae of Charles R. Drew University and community partners.
- Provide potential opportunities for students to network and shadow medical professionals, and visit future job sites.
- Facilitate a pipeline program that helps cultivate and develop students from freshmen to seniors.
- Recommend, administer, and interpret standardized career assessment inventories.
- Provides occupational information and maintains the career resource library and online website.
- Assist and participate in the formulation and implementation of organizational goals and objectives. Participate in regular department and component meetings.
- Participate and support student life activities, including orientation activities for new and returning students.
- Maintain effective communication and provide high-quality customer service to potential employers, faculty, staff, students, and community members.
- Create effective marketing strategies and materials to increase participation in Career Advising services and initiatives.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the Office of the Provost.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree or above in education, counseling, or general subject area of advising and five years’ experience in advising, recruiting, teaching, coaching, and Student Affairs or other related area.
- Master’s degree preferred.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two (2) years of post-graduate experience in academic and career advising.
- Experience working with undergraduate and graduate students in support of their career development.
- Demonstrated interest and experience in working with a student population that is diverse in terms of race, language of origin, ethnicity, nationality, religion, generation to college, sexual identity, abilities and interests.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Experience in advisement within a higher education setting.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience planning, coordinating, and facilitating outreach programs.
- Knowledge of career exploration, demonstrated ability to work with students from diverse, ed. disadvantaged and non-traditional backgrounds.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Ability to provide and analyze statistical data for periodic and end of year reporting.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides high-level secretarial and administrative support in a team environment to a group of lawyers as required.
- Coordinates and maintains effective office procedures and efficient workflow; complies with policies and procedures set by Firm; establishes and maintains harmonious working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, clients, etc.
- Handles scheduling and travel arrangements. Schedules court appearances, depositions, arbitrations, mediations, client meetings and conference calls; arranges business itineraries and coordinates lawyers' travel arrangements; processes travel reimbursements; maintains calendar and due dates for lawyers as required.
- Organizes and coordinates flow of information. Sorts, reads and annotates incoming mail and documents as required. Attaches appropriate file to facilitate necessary action; determines routing, signatures required and maintains follow-ups. Answers phones and directs callers to appropriate persons as circumstances warrant. Receives and assists visitors.
- Types and composes general correspondence, memos, legal documents, faxes, reports, etc. from various sources. Prepares communications outlined by lawyer in oral or written directions. Responsible for accuracy and clarity of final copy. Correlates and edits materials submitted by others. Organizes material that may be presented to lawyers in draft format. Ensures that all correspondence or other documentation is dispatched in a timely manner (via mail, messenger, express delivery services, etc.)
- Prepares draft pleadings such as briefs, complaints, motions, subpoenas, summonses, using firm templates and information from attorneys. Prepares motion binders and special working binders. Coordinates multi-document filings in both state and federal courts, including E-filings.
- Establishes and maintains filing and records, in both hard copy and electronic formats. Files information in a timely manner. Retrieves information from files as requested. Sends files to storage on a periodic basis. Updates subscription books as required.
- Enters lawyers' time on a daily basis and sends to accounting by month-end deadlines. Prepares client billing as required.
- Researches and abstracts information and support data in preparation for meetings, work projects, and reports.
- Creates and maintains up-to-date desk manual on specific instructions and responsibilities for the secretarial team.
- Takes action authorized by Lawyer and Director of Administration using initiative and good judgment in handling matters.
- Notifies Director of Administration about availability to assist with overflow work.
- Timely and regular attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
