Legal Counsel Position with the World's Leading Biomedical Research Agency (Hybrid)

Garrison has been exclusively engaged by the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH), a Maryland non-profit which works with its partners to accelerate biomedical research and strategies against diseases and health concerns in the U.S. and across the globe, to recruit a new Legal Counsel for their small, highly collegial Legal Department. This new hire will have a diverse and challenging legal portfolio and be part of an organization with an excellent work-life balance.

You will support a range of internal clients, including Population Health Science, Research Partnerships, Strategic Alliances, Finance, Communications, and Operations, as well as external stakeholders, including foundations, associations, corporations, and universities to drive innovation and biomedical discovery. Primary Responsibilities: Drafting and negotiating donor agreements, grant agreements, services agreements, research collaboration agreements, data sharing agreements and confidentiality agreements; providing support on regulatory filings and compliance obligations; handling data privacy, government contracting, financial sanctions, legal operations, and knowledge management; and supporting outside counsel on employment, international law, IP, and real estate issues.

Candidates must have 5+ years of legal experience, which includes drafting and negotiating technology/commercial agreements in addition to regulatory counseling and compliance. FNIH is open to candidates coming from a law firm, non-profit, or biotech/pharma company.

GW Hospital’s Operating Room (OR) is the core surgical hub, anchored by 17 operating rooms on the second floor of the main suite. The perioperative footprint also includes additional operating rooms in Labor & Delivery and a combined MRI-OR for complex neurosurgical procedures. Anesthesia services support care across multiple anesthetizing locations, including Endoscopy, Interventional Radiology, CT/MRI, and Electrophysiology.

The Operating Room Manager (RN) provides day-to-day operational and clinical leadership for the OR as the primary unit of responsibility. This leader is accountable for safe, efficient surgical services delivery, staffing execution, throughput performance, regulatory readiness, and team development. The role partners closely with Endoscopy, Anesthesia Services, and Open Heart Surgery stakeholders to ensure seamless perioperative coordination where workflows intersect.

• Lead daily OR operations: staffing, room coverage, schedule coordination, and case flow
• Optimize throughput: first-case on-time starts, turnover time, utilization, delays/cancellations
• Drive safety and quality: perioperative standards, surgical safety practices, documentation, and infection prevention
• Maintain survey readiness and compliance with applicable standards across OR workflows
• Develop OR leaders and staff: onboarding, competencies, coaching, accountability, and performance management
• Partner with Anesthesia, Endoscopy, Open Heart Surgery, Sterile Processing, and Scheduling to remove bottlenecks impacting OR performance

About the Unit: The 6 North unit is a 42 bed multi-specialty area committed to being the innovative leader in Neuroscience, Orthopedic and Trauma services. Our unit is equipped with advanced monitoring devices and perfected with an environment conducive to healing.  We take pride in being a Comprehensive Stroke Unit and a Level 4 Epilepsy unit, the highest levels that can be attained. 

Job Summary: The Neuro Ortho(RN) is responsible for the operational management and strategic planning of the department. This leadership role ensures high-quality care, compliance with regulatory standards, and operational efficiency to meet the needs of our patients, staff, and community.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations, including staffing, patient flow, and resource allocation.
• Provide leadership, mentoring, and supervision to nursing staff to maintain clinical excellence.
• Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical protocols, policies, and regulatory standards.
• Serve as a liaison between staff, patients, families, and hospital leadership, ensuring effective communication.
• Identify and address operational or clinical issues promptly to enhance patient outcomes and staff satisfaction.
• Participate in performance improvement initiatives and contribute to the department’s strategic objectives.

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Licensure: Current RN license or eligibility to practice in the District of Columbia.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of professional experience that demonstrates a progressive leadership background. Hospital background, preferably in an acute care or urban setting. 
• Certifications: Certification in specialty preferred
• Skills: Exceptional communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

Ultrasound Technologist

The Sonographer reports to the designated leader within the Imaging Department. 

• As a Sonographer, you will provide clinical services according to ultrasound practice standards and act as a resource to students, residents, fellows and other technologists to ensure optimal department functions.
• To help achieve our mission, you will administer sound patient care practices according to hospital and department policies and procedures to ensure the safety of patients.

• High School diploma or equivalency
• Able to speak and write English Fluently
• Diploma from certified school of Radiology required.
• Two (2) years of experience as a Registered Sonographer and acute care experience preferred.
• Current RDMS license required.
• Breast and Vascular registry preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required
• Demonstrated excellent customer service skills.
